“A ⑨ score for a hentai? Are you serious???”
Well, firstly this is of course based on a special scale reserved only for hentai shows. Biologically speaking, if we’re aroused at the first place then most of the blood for our brain got allocated to the down under instead so it’s a common sense that we practically watch shows like this with our brains turned off and not expecting anything besides some ‘actions’. Because of that, this show managed to completely went out of our expectation in a good way.
Now if we want to talk about the appeals of this show, here’s the girls line up:
...
we have two strong independent girl who are somewhat tempting with their choice of revealing outfits, a yamato nadeshiko nee-san who’s very obedient yet strong-hearted, and of course an imouto for the topping as usual. They all get their respective actions but two of them will only have it near at the climax near the end of the final episode so bear with it.
This show is rather modest yet had a high production value. The animations are always different in every style/pose and it also showed us a various amount of different clothing. The expressions are also rather realistic, like the girls faces showed us that they’re tired of this and are not enjoying themselves. This also goes by for the soundtracks which were fitting for the whole situation and mood of the show, which is depressing and mysterious. The VAs also did a splendid job of voicing the characters with their respective personalities.
While we’re indulging ourselves in guilty pleasure, the story struck us home with the sudden twist; and at the end of the show, it left us gaping emptily. So all-in-all, this hentai is for someone who looks for gang rape actions with various girls and some spices of mystery which forms the backbone of this show.

Valkyria Chronicles is set in an alternate Europe around 1940s. With the timeline, it’s obvious that the overall theme will be World War 2-esque. This means that the primary target of the anime are either military & dieselpunk fans or those who have played the game. The sad reality is, it’s neither packed in combat actions nor gives us ‘fanservice’ (not ecchi panty shots and the others, but as in we could see more of our favorite character development outside of the game and see him/her got more spotlight, etc). So all in all, this anime can be considered a flop in its execution but
...
still, it has potential if it was done in another way (like making it slice of life in the military base or comedy rather than the usual melo-war movie that is plot-focused with a little bit of romance).
Here we can see the five main characters and also the ones who hog the entire spotlight on them. We have the power-hungry demagogue Maximilian, the devout servant because of lifelong obligation Selvaria, the ditzy genius Welkin, the girl next door Alicia, and the womanizer but at the same not empty-brained Faldio. The other characters are simply side-swept with the occasional highlighted in the filler episode after a tragedy and maybe an arc like Rosie and Isara. But other than that, the focus returns back to the five-O. What’s redeeming though, is that the character varies a lot and there are several of the somewhat rare types in anime like Jann.
The colors present here are mostly pastel and dull which gives us the impression of experiencing a fantasy yet tragedy-engulfed world. This is great in theory but the longer we watch, of course the more dull and boring it gets. Both 2D and 3D are okay and there’s only a few of the awkward movements.
The VA did a good job and suits their role. The soundtracks aren’t too memorable but at least that means they’re also not annoying. In the version of VC in which I watched (Coalgirl), the OP and the ED were not present until the last two episode so no comments. This might be special in my case because of I've only recently downloaded ep 25 & 26 yet the other 24 episodes had been downloaded for like two years ago
Personal experience here, take with a grain of salt; this is by far the anime in which I took a very long time to finish it. I’ve played the game (only for several hours though) and become interested it in so I decided to look at the anime hoping that it will satisfy me more. I started watching in December 2015 up until episode 12 and then took a long hiatus until it is already almost one year (end of November or Early December 2016) before I pick it up for 6 more episodes and then it’s back on-hold. It’s until now, May 2017 that I manages to finish the whole 26 episodes (not including the 10 OVAs). Looking at my record in watching animes, either I binge-watched an anime in a period of one day to one week, or watch it by batches of 3-6 episodes per seating and then took around 1-2 months to finish it. But this anime is a record-setter with a whopping ~17 months to finish. That may tell us a lot that this anime is both disappointing and boring. The concept of the universe was great (like in the masterpiece game) but the execution of this anime gone very awry. Could’ve take a different concept or genre and give a lot of characters spotlight and specials rather than making a plot-focused anime while the game itself already has already had the story.

An anime about the pure, innocent, and slow-pacing love of the adolescence page in our lives that we can relate to. This show can bring back nostalgia about how dumbfounded we had been when we experienced love in the middle school.
The art style is very unique with the watercolor palette and will be very distinguishable at the first episode. It’s fitting in the general feel of the show, which is like the reminiscent of our youth days. There’s a lot of great sceneries which somewhat akin to what Makoto Shinkai’s produced in his works.
The soundtracks help a lot in creating the atmosphere of the
...
scene and are noteworthy. The OP is beautiful yet exciting, the same goes to the ED and insert songs (though both are calmer). All in all, the sounds are working in concert with the art to create a delightful duo for our senses.
Both of the main characters seem like dandere because of how shy they are except with the ones they’re close to. This helps create heartwarming awkward moments between the two of them. Other supporting characters also show interesting premise for future episodes.
The slow-paced nature of this show may turn away some people off, but actually it’s the strong point. It also occasionally surprises us with the sudden increment of development in the story. This anime might be a hidden gem in this season or maybe this year because of how down-to-earth it is and it might refreshes our not-so-pure self with something as innocent as this.

In accordance with the ‘three episode rule’, this show just saved itself at the last minute. Some may already be put off by the slow start. Episode 1 & 2 aren’t lively and there’s a lot of stiff scenes. Even episode 2 part B is already a filler. But thankfully, the third episode turns out to be much more promising than the earlier ones. It introduces us two (or three) more lively characters which will definitely expand both the story and the enjoyment much more.
The animation concept is interesting yet is still glitchy (very apparent in the first episode) with the F.A. Girls are animated
...
in CGI/3D but the rest (our human MC and the backgrounds) is in the usual 2D. Sometimes the CGI is so smooth like in the opening and subsequent battles (primarily episode 3).
The background soundtrack didn’t stand out very much and the volume is sometimes too low to be able to make the atmosphere. The ED is catchy though.
Looking at the final line up of the F.A. Girls, there should be a good number of personalities so it might be a wild ride after all of them are introduced. The existence of fanservices so far is still at a decent and acceptable amount.
If you’re either a mecha fan, looking for an action anime, or just want to see cute (miniature-sized android) girls then just give this anime a shot! It’s promising enough if they keep pumping out episodes like the third one.

First of all, don’t get intimidated by the presence of “music” in the genre section. Both the genre and the classical music pieces are only there to serve as the background for both romance and the soundtrack. This anime is a pure embodiment of the star-crossed lovers’ story. Those who seek this anime might be one of the following: one that searches for ‘the feels’, one who enjoys music (classical, in particular), and one who’s looking for a good coming of age story. This anime, thankfully, manages to deliver us all of them in a great presentation.
All of the characters present in this anime pay
...
great contribution for both the story and enjoyment. They all interact with Kousei (our lead character) to shape him and also form the backbone of the whole plot. They’re also not neglected at all; we’re given full details about them like their past, motivation, and goal. The whole characters manage to cohesively run the plot of this anime. What's more interesting is that there seems no apparent antagonist, the real antagonist is only fate.
In the early episodes (until the sixth, maybe, but below the twelfth), one may feel that the character’s faces aren’t like in the usual anime in the term facial features like eyes and mouths. This is the true trademark art style of this anime which originated from the manga. The colors are mostly bright and vivid that it reminds us of how colorful youth is/was. There are many of the scenes which are worthy to be used as a background image because they’re simply beautiful and breathtaking. The 3D also delivers well because of how smooth it is and the usage is on point.
The OPs and EDs are all catchy and memorable that sometimes they will get you PTSD because of the feels they delivered. The classical pieces are all well selected according to the general theme of the concurring arc. The OSTs also fit well and will further increase the feels we get from that particular scene.
This anime manages to capture all of our senses and (normally) drenches the tears off our eyes. It will also teach us about a lot of aspects about life for our future’s sake. And the best part of all this is that while it’s so densely compacted, the overall flow and presentation of this anime is smooth, not cluttered and will not bore us because of the constant sensation.

This movie is a rather simple and relaxing one, yet it manages to keep us anticipating the story’s progression. Rolling around the idea of social status and race, it’s basically bringing Japanese customs to an imaginary setting of the Mediterranean in the 1940s. Because of the timeline, World War 2 and dieselpunk fans might be excited to see the military uniforms and several historically-inspired vehicles in this movie. There is J7W Shinden, Kongou-class fast battleship, Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser, and even the main airplane (Santa Cruz) resembles N1K Shiden and B7A Ryuusei but with twin tails.
Character-wise, this film does really well with the secondary characters’
...
role that is to shape the two main characters' world, reality and problem. Both Juana and Charles struggle between staying professional or let their feelings and ego take over. We can also see how Juana developed throughout the movie, which is typical in any adventure films.
The music scores are great and suit really well with the scenes present. We can feel the tension or the calmness and the music instruments also blends well with the overall theme. Charles’ voice acting is well done while it leaves much to be desired for Juana. Her grunts and other minor voices don’t suit really well with her age and usual voice.
It’s very neat to look at the details they put into the airplane models. The characters and sceneries are also beautifully drawn, especially the clothes design. Both the 2D and 3D are great except for the motion part because sometimes the airplanes move too sharp and what else (not really smooth in maneuvers).
We can really feel the chemistry bonding between Juana and Charles and then we’ll begin to look forward to their relationship, whether things will go on as planned in the beginning or there will be plot twist and their fate will change. There are longings in both of them to be free and boundless by the social status and we can relate to that as well and may hope that they’ll break free. It’s also about doing your best in the given circumstances because in the end, there are things which we cannot change and it’s better to just accept that and treasure what we already had.
