Season 1 is worth watching SOLELY because Season 2 is amazing.
What was good about season 1 IMO:
-Animation
-Voice acting, direction and phenomenal cast
-creative power system (except for the MC :D)
Not so good:
-Slow arc in the middle which I didn't enjoy personally
-BGM not memorable
...
-Exposition dumps
That's it, everything after this is just CTRL+V because MAL won't let me post otherwise.

Jujutsu Kaisen isn't afraid to wear its shonen influences on its sleeve. But what it does with those influences is where the magic lies. Here's a breakdown of what makes season 1 such a hit:
Strengths:
Fresh Take on Familiar Tropes: Jujutsu Kaisen takes the classic underdog protagonist and injects him with a surprising amount of depth. Yuji Itadori is both powerful and endearing, his internal struggles balancing the high-octane action. The world of Jujutsu Sorcerers is also well-developed, giving the supernatural elements a grounded feel.
Animation that Shines: Studio MAPPA brings its A-game. The fight scenes are a particular highlight, with fluid animation and impactful special effects. Even during quieter moments, the animation quality remains impressive.
Compelling Characters: It's not just Yuji. The supporting cast is full of interesting personalities, from the aloof but powerful Gojo Satoru to the prickly but determined Nobara Kugisaki. Each character gets their own moments to shine, and their relationships with each other add another layer of depth to the story.
Balancing Tones: Jujutsu Kaisen knows how to shift gears. It can be brutal and suspenseful one moment, then crack a hilarious joke the next. This tonal variety keeps things fresh and engaging.
Weaknesses:
Shonen Tropes Can Be Predictable: While Jujutsu Kaisen puts its own spin on things, there are still familiar beats that fans of the genre might anticipate. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's something to keep in mind.
Worldbuilding Can Be Dense: The series throws a lot of information at the viewer, particularly regarding the Jujutsu world's lore and terminology. This can be overwhelming at times, especially for newcomers to the genre.
Overall:
Jujutsu Kaisen is a fantastic example of modern shonen done right. With its blend of action, humor, and surprising emotional depth, it's a must-watch for anime fans. Just be prepared for some bumps along the road and a healthy dose of shonen tropes.

Not as good as Season 1:
The first few episodes were pretty neat, as they finished the story arc of season 1. Following that, the the story is mostly underwater, which I had absolutely no interest in. I don't care about some dumb fish. During the whole season, MC gets tons of power-ups that aren't really well explained at all. It's also impossible to tell how strong everyone is supposed to be. In season 1, it was pretty important which rank of cultivation people are; in this one, you have a gold-venerated holy immortal emperor king dragon master and he still loses to MC who's like 10 ranks ... I've been watching Anime/Cartoons for 20+ years, and Douluo Dalu is one of my favorites and I genuinely believe it's a masterpiece. It's my favorite shonen and my favorite Isekai.
My PERSONAL enjoyment of the show was a 10/10. Pro: -The best power system out of any show I've ever seen. It's genius -Great worldbuilding -Having seen almost no Donghua before, this show felt EXTREMELY unique and inventive -Lovable main cast (Shrek seven devils) -tons of fighting -there's romance, there's drama, I laughed and I cried; it's dope -Although the Protagonist is OP, the other group members are still very strong and useful. There's a lot of fighting in this show, and they actually ... Oct 12, 2022

BIG SPOILERS AHEAD:
It's a battle royale that's very flawed. They spend a lot of time hyping them up, but out of the 12 participants, about 8 were just one-shot/Killed in one hit. There's maybe like 2-3 fights that last a few seconds in the entire show. Feels like all the deaths were written to be very anticlimactic. The dialogue is neither funny nor interesting, except for a single dialogue between the ox and the tiger. I finished the show only because I was interested to see the way everyone fights (which we mostly don't) and to see to who ends up winning. The winner makes a wish ... Aug 17, 2018
This is about Season 1, I haven't watched Zuko yet and I probably won't.
This was essentially a waste of time. An asshole, a stuck up bitch and an overly cheerfull anime girl do stuff at school: The Show. Didn't get a single laugh out of me. There was no Romance in Season 1 whatsoever. There's some light drama that doesn't even make sense most of the time. The artquality fluctuates between and in the middle of episodes. The OP + ED are nothing special. They managed to make an uneventful series with only 3 important protagonist and managed to let 2 of them remain shallow as ... |
