I'll assume that everyone who've seen this film has seen the original anime, and that you'd be familiar what the show entails. Each "puberty syndrome" symbolizes a character's problem, and to resolve it, one must come to accept themselves and change. Not only relatable, the show also worked because of how fun it was. Filled with smart dialogue and characters, the show managed to be both entertaining and touching, with the latter culminating in the Kaede/Sakuta arc in the last 3 episodes
But to be honest? Nothing can prepare anyone for what Dreaming Girl is about to throw at you
What if you were given a glimpse
...
of your future, and how it will affect your loved ones? At what lengths would you try to change it, the way you think will make everything alright? Especially if your decision means life or death for those you love.
The harsh dilemma of this choice is what makes up the film. This isn't the Bunny Girl Senpai you know anymore. Throughout the film hangs a heavy mood, made more prominent by the surprisingly quiet soundtrack. The witty dialogue that many know and love is all but gone, as the characters have to face the truth: that those they love may just not be around for long. The imminent knowledge of one's demise, and the lengths to which one may go to change that fate makes for some of the most gut-wrenching moments and decisions in any anime film I have seen
Oh, and there is plenty of shock and dismay at play here. There will be moments that is most unexpected, moments that will leave you speechless, as you take in its consequences. This movie will leave you EXHAUSTED from crying, and that is coming from a guy who didn't cry on Kimi no Na wa, or Hotaru no Haka, or even AnoHana for Christ's sake
And the characters? You won't even recognize them anymore. Most of the feelings here are not smugness and poking fun at one another, but sadness. They are all trying their hardest to hang on to their beloved, refusing to let the memories flow away. A feeling that, I think, most have gone through, the feeling hat you may never see your loved ones again.
The combination of all these things creates an utterly shocking experience that might just help you appreciate those around you even more, the memories you've made, the impact they had on you. It's not so often that a movie made me appreciate everything around me even more, but this movie did
If you loved the original show, this one is not to miss. If you're new to all of this, then take this as a recommendation. Even if you didn't enjoy the original show as much as I did, this movie is still worth it by the end
So, what are you waiting for?! Go watch this film!

When I first looked into Devilman Crybaby, I didn't know what to expect. An anime about demons fighting demons with a banger soundtrack? Nice. But boy was I not prepared for one hell of an emotional rollercoaster and philosophical look that was this show.
At its core, Devilman is a show about humanity. Sure its first few eps are pure gore-fests and entertaining fights, but later on it starts to take on heavy themes. It's in these later episodes where we start to wonder...what does it mean to be a human? The show starts giving us these powerful moments that really makes us question who we
...
truly are, the demons or the humans. It exposes both the animalistic side of the viewer during the first few episodes and the human side on latter ones. The show delivers extremely hyped scenes in one moment, and the next you are utterly at lost for words. The nuanced way Devilman combines these complete opposite elements and bringing them together is something seemingly unbelievable until you've watched it. Everything comes together in a beautiful, yet utterly devastating, piece of art.
In order to convey this wonderful plot, the show builds its characters and relationships incredibly well. After all, if a show can make you sympathize with a demon, then you know it did a good job. And thanks to that, moments when the show hits, it hits incredibly hard. Other elements however, are not in any way discarded. Animation-wise, Devilman stands out with its deceptively cartoonish style that somehow perfectly mixes with the brutal gore and violence that the show boast. WARNING: THIS SHOW DOES NOT WHOLE BACK ON ANYTHING, AND I MEAN ANYTHING. It surely delivers hype after hype moments, with epic battles and unrestrained brutality constantly shown. And to complement that is an equally dope soundtrack.
The god himself, Kensuke Ushio, had blessed our ears with another brilliant soundtrack. Ranging from sick-ass synthwave tracks to heartbreaking melodies, the OST has pretty much every kind of genre of your liking. But what's special about this one is the use of "leitmotif". Certain themes are constantly remixed according to the situation at play, and they can convey both the feel of the scene and the personality of a character. The way Ushio distorted these themes , from epic and dramatic, to quirky and cheesy, to downright quiet and sorrowful...it's just a master's work at hand.
If there was one word that would describe Devilman Crybaby, it would be "rebellious". The show goes against the anime norm with its artstyle, pure-unfiltered brutality and willingness to approach heavy themes. It's refreshing to see something so different reaching our hands, something that is not afraid to stand apart from the rest, to not abide any law. If you're looking for an anime just like that, then look no other than Devilman Crybaby

Violet Evergarden is the culmination of everything anime could and should strive for. For start, its grand production is something truly magnificent to behold. Every frame, every storyboard, every character design is bewilderingly stunning, creating a world so vibrant and so beautiful that leaves you awestruck at how it is even possible. Production aspects aside, the stories this anime tells is splendidly painful. It's the stories of loss, of self-growth and most importantly, of the meaning of love. Each episode of Violet Evergarden is a journey through emotions. Like a composition, Violet builds up its notes slowly and meticulously, so that when it hits the

crescendo, the resulting experience feels profoundly impactful, even cathartic. Of course, it does not hit that wonderfully high mark all the time, even straying away from it at times; but when it does, the aftermath is devastatingly powerful, one that will surely leave some viewers bawling dry of tears. Violet herself is also one character of amazing allure, whose development is utterly beautiful yet heartbreaking to watch, a development from what is essentially a doll to a person who the audience can cry and empathize for, a tale of growing up that one has to see to believe. Aided by the incredible writing that not only builds up the episodes so well but also intertwines them so elegantly with Violet's own poignant development, and the mesmerizingly breathtaking soundtrack by Evan Call, we're ultimately left with a show that will leave one sobbing not only for its lasting impact, but also its unforgettable beauty.
