STORY
Guilty crown boasts their powerhouse production crew lead by the series' DirectorTetsuro Araki, who had directed highly popular and crtically acclaimed works such as Death Note and Black Lagoon followed by their series composers, who had joined the production crew of top-rated Code Geass. The series' interesting concept proves the prestige of its crew. Sadly, its first few episodes start many problems and plotholes. In fact, Guilty Crown's first few episodes exemplify the exact definition of cliche. But that isn't the main problem. In it's first few episodes, almost all the characters are introduced immediately, the conflicts were already present and everything else was all

set but surprisingly it gave unsubstantial and disappointing episodes, which should have been the foundations of the series. The first half (Episodes 1-10) was annoyingly slow-paced. Speaking of pacing, the pace of the first half is the exact opposite of the second half. Still, it was disappointing how the depths and origins of the conflicts in the story were explained in a episode or two. It was like the production crew were in a hurry to forcefully shove information to the viewers' heads. Due to it's lack of strong foundation and with a seemingly hurried plot development, the series failed to discussed important topics about the anime and its characters. The viewers were uneccessarily left thinking and speculating about some aspects of the plot.

CHARACTERS
This aspect contributed to what I label as "THE MAJOR FAILS IN THIS ANIME" Well, it does not take a die-hard otaku or an anime fan to notice that the characters in this anime are unoriginal. In fact, the male lead is a rip-off from several other media, and yes not only anime. He is your typical wimpy kid who becomes god-like after a few episodes. This also goes for the other characters, also the villains are painfully stereotypical. It is annoying to see that the execution of their roles are as stereotyped and as unoriginal as the roles itself. Guilty Crown also gives a false sense of an ensemble cast (ensemble cast - all the characters in a show has equal importance and affects the story). Indeed, GC has a huge number of cast members but the other characters, although have adequate exposure in the series, lack depth; they can nearly be labeled as useless or display. It was disheartening to see that some of the characters served like fan service tools the whole run, the female characters of course. But definitely, some of the characters blended well with each other.

SOUND
I think this saved this series from immediate demise in the anime world. (lols) But true, Supercell's OPs and EDs in this anime were top notch. The series' music featured other languages such as German. Truly, the BG music made each scene in the anime more lively and epic. The seiyuus (voice actors) in this anime were I can say a bit of newbies in the business but I can say that they did a good job. If an anime is all about music and sounds, Guilty Crown could beat the hell out of other animes.

ART & ANIMATION
There is no question of Production I.G.'s prowess in terms of art and animation is this series. The animation company utilized digital animation (explosions, special effects and the like are replicated through computer, characters and scenery are drawn through a computer) well. I would commend how the colors blended all throughout the series. I think the coloring and also the drawings itself had a realistic touch. In the animation stand point, it was definitely top-notch and could compete to well known animation studios such as Kyoto Animation (Clannad) and P.A. Works (Angel Beats) Kudos to Production I.G in this aspect.

ENTERTAINMENT VALUE/OVERALL STANDING
Guilty Crown though fails in a lot of aspects especially in story/plot development still manages to entertainment and give joy to its viewers bigtime. It can't be denied that the show really executed well in the action standpoint. It is a highly competitive anime in terms of great and breathtaking scenes. Guilty Crown's scenes could truly be considered epic and could be compared to the highly popular, Full Metal Alchemist in terms of epicness. As I said earlier its catchy OST will definitely hooked you in watching this anime alongside with its great animation work. In summary, Guilty Crown is a must watch for anime fans who simply love epicness and simply wants to enjoy but if you're the type who is very critical on the different aspects of an anime, especially its story and its development, Guilty Crown is definitely not for you.
