So much wasted potential, baby.
Space Dandy has stunning art and animation, fun and vibrant characters and an interesting world. And it chooses to do very little with all of it. Space Dandy draws parallels with Cowboy Bebop but falls short of it on every metric.
The less serious tone of the show trades character development and emotional punch for shallow jokes and simple gags. Episode 5, in which Dandy escorts a young girl, reveals the show is capable of such depth but chooses not to do so often.
A lack of overarching story leads to a very episodic show. This isn't necessarily bad, but since
...
the characters of the show are almost one dimensional, there is very little feeling of development via story or character growth.
The nonsensical plot and lack of consequences to the main characters cuts almost all the tension in the episodes. Seeing them getting blown up at the end of a scene doesn't mean they die, have lasting consequences or even acknowledge the event at the start of the next scene.
What carries this show is the beautiful art and animation. The galaxy explored is full of unique shapes, colours, and and creatures all wrapped up in a cool retro futuristic style . It is a seriously groovy experience that alone makes this show worth watching.
The action can also be done quite well, showcased best in episode 7's space race. Space Dandy's own take on redline, the episode takes itself seriously. Packed full of action and style, is had me on my seat for the whole length of it. Unfortunately other action scenes in the show tend to be hampered by the bizarre comedic tone that portrays Dandy as an ineffective hero.
Despite my criticisms, Space Dandy was still a fun watch. Just go in with low expectations and enjoy the ride, baby!

As a big fan of the Konosuba series so far, my only real complaint was that this season wasn't longer.
The characters we've grown to love continue their whacky shenanigans. While some would criticise this as more of the same (and that wouldn't even be bad), Season 3 pushes forward the narrative quite a bit.
Actions by the party in previous seasons, mainly by Aqua, have their consequences play out in humourous and dramatic ways. Funnily enough, many events that are played for gags and seen as unimportant end up driving a lot of the plot. This attention to detail in the story is really
...
satisfying, perhaps even more so as Konosuba is not usually presented as a "serious" fantasy world.
This season really doesn't pull punches when it comes to it's emotional scenes, with Kazuma being part of many serious moments. While ruining many said moments, Kazuma's multifaceted personality often shines through and exposes the core of someone who truly cares about those around him.
Ultimately, if you enjoyed the previous Konosuba seasons, you will enjoy this one. Let's just hope the next season isn't another 7 years away!

This show has all the right ingredients but it falls a bit short of the wonderful mix that is Konosuba!
Animation is great, music is in line with the rest of the series and plot is fun and whimsical. That said, the lack of Konosuba's normal cast in this series really highlighted how entertaining the interactions between the main series four characters is.
Yunyun takes over Kazuma's role as the straight man in the comedy, while Megumin remains her chaotic self. Sadly lack of Aqua and Darkness in the jokes and comedic setups is felt. A rotating cast of supporting characters take up some of the roles
...
left by Aqua, Darkness and even Kazuma, but it isn't the same.
That said, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the new characters introduced as well as the expanded backstory of others we see in the main series and movie. I have a particular soft spot for the antagonists, which I even felt myself rooting for at times. Hopefully we get to see some of them return to Konosuba!
This series gives some nice emotional scenes, especially between Megumin and Yunyun. I've never really liked their relationship in Konosuba as it's come off as simple bullying to me, but at least there's now some context and motivations for it.
Also regarding motivations, it's satisfying to finally understand why Megumin is so driven to pursue explosion magic.
I found myself enjoying the show in the final episodes the most as it links up to the main series. As a fan of the series, it is very fun to see certain interactions from different perspectives and see some events that fill gaps in the previous season.
Ultimately this was a fun, cute series to watch. I think if you're a big Konosuba fan, you'll enjoy this a lot as it fleshes out the world and the characters within. But if you're new to the world of Konosuba, you should really start with the first season.

Personally, I love the tabi genre. I love the sense of adventure they stir in my heart. In our modern world where almost everything is known and almost everywhere has been mapped, the unknown is exciting!
A whole new world, familiar yet distinctly different. New places far away from safety, from home.. and mysteries around every corner. Some dangerous, some wonderful, and many in between.
On this feeling Heavenly Delusion delivers.
A post apocalyptic world with a light scifi twist, two young characters journey through a world ravaged by conflict, time and mysterious beasts known as Hiroku.
As in many classic tabi anime, the pair will meet
...
various characters whose intentions are often not what they seem, and the conflict from these interactions drive most of the story in episode long bites.
Cut between scenes, the show also follows a group of school children in an enclosed, school like facility. In stark contrast to the world outside, the facility is well maintained and modern, even slightly futuristic. The children mostly go about their days as normal kids would, while hints of the world outside are revealed in snippets of conversation.
Following two stories is hard to write well, but the show managed to adequately accomplish it. That said, I still found the cuts to the school kids as jarring to the pacing of the show. While it was neat to see some gradual exposition of the world through the kids, I think the show would have been better served to have focused more screen time on the two main characters instead.
The two characters, Maru and Kiruko, share a special relationship that has friendly, brotherly and intimate qualities. Despite how confusing that sounds, the two characters' relationship progresses smoothly and organically throughout the show. The bond they shared and grew together was a highlight of the show for me.
Often tabi stories will have elements of darkness in them. Heavens Delusion doesn't shy away from dark issues and uses those moments to push characters into situations other shows don't dare explore. While the dark parts might get a bit exaggerated and characters might not act in a realistic way, it was refreshing to see something different.
In terms of production, I was very happy. The animation was great and the music good too. I particularly enjoyed both the OP and the ED and found myself listening to it after almost every episode.
The season finished on a partial conclusion, which has left me partially unsatisfied. While one arc has concluded, the main story is yet to truly develop. Most of the groundwork has been laid but the season ends as things start heating up.
Ultimately, I thoroughly enjoyed going for a ride with this show, but I am left wanting more. But maybe that's to be expected.
After all, does a journey ever truly end?
EDIT: after some reading and now understanding a bit more of the plot, I'm giving this 9/10. There's a lot going on in the story and I love how much detail there is.

I wanted to like this anime. I really did. The the start of the first episode showed an interesting setup for an isekai. And then it got worse.
The main character's motivations are never explained past a weak sense of chuunibyuo taken to the extreme. The other characters and the narrative offers no challenge to the protagonist either, meaning after the excitement of seeing a battle for the first time, it just becomes a boring drawn out fight knowing the mc will never be in danger nor will his opponent ever win.
The harem of girls the mc has following him around is a cliche done
...
poorly. The author even throws in some meta jokes about this and other anime cliches and then shamelessly goes forward with it.
Honestly what annoys me the most is that this show had potential. The world was fleshed out, the backstory could have been engaging. Some of the supporting characters could be interesting given more agency and room to grow. And this got 20 episodes with a decent enough animation team.
The last 6 episodes were a grind for me, my mind ignoring the sunk cost fallacy. I only wonder what could have been if another work had gotten this slot.

When I went into Maid War, I didn't know exactly what to expect. Perhaps it was a light hearted comedy or slice of life following maids with some rivalry to add tension.
What I got was a show that doesn't pull it's punches. Gratuitous violence and blood mixed with slap stick comedy and non stop puns all wrapped up in a maid uniform. If that sounds ridiculous, that's because it is.
That said, the emotional scenes in the show still land and by the end of the show I felt attached to the characters.
The story concludes satisfyingly in the 12 episode run, and I've
...
had a good time watching it. I hope you enjoy the show as well!

Wonder Egg Priority. Much like the name, the show makes little sense. I wanted to like this show, I really searched for reasons to recommend it. Much like the plot, I really struggled at the end.
The animation itself is beautiful. Almost good enough to watch just for it. The music and songs are great, and hit all the right notes for each scene.
The world in Wonder Egg Priority is created with love, filled with mysteries and little details. But the story is where it all starts falling apart. It seemed the team had a much larger vision than a 12 episode show (11 not including
...
the recap) could tell. Pacing gets messy near the end where the issues the team faced during production are made apparent. An ending that felt very rushed and a whole lot of unresolved threads viewers are left to piece together.
This has been a sad show as I could see the love and passion the team poured into this show. You can see it in the voice acting, the character development, the music and the animation.
Ultimately Wonder Egg Priority has all the elements needed to make a ageless classic but perhaps it needed a bit more time in the Egg.
