The protagonists in Btooom & No Game No Life are expert NEET gamers who are trapped in virtual worlds. In Btooom, the NEET is Ryouta Sakamoto while in No Game No Life, the NEETs are Sora & Shiro. The difference is Btooom is a survival game whereby in order to win, you must be the last man standing while No Game No Life is basically a quest to redeem the weak human race of Imanity. The animation style has a darker vibe in Btooom while the animation has a sunset feel in No Game No Life.

Both anime have main characters that are strong, smart and badass. Code Geass: Lelouch, No Game No life: Sora Code Geass: CC, No Game No Life: Shiro Lelouch and Sora are both brilliant strategists. The difference is No Game No life takes place in a virtual world while Code Geass takes place in a real setting involving nations after nations. Code Geass doesn't have characters that are NEETs when compared to No Game No Life.

Similarities: Both protagonists were living through rough times, however they think well on their feet. Both protagonists are great characters (smart, cool). (Hachiman from Oregairu, Tatsuya Shiba from Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei). Both anime take place in a high school setting. Differences: Oregairu doesn't involve magic or fighting abilities when in compared to Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei.

Demons and spirits. Both anime focuses on evil spirits. In Noragami, the evil spirits are known as "Phantoms" while in Venus Versus Virus, the evil spirits are known as "Virus". The quote "smells nice" was used in Noragami when one of the phantom communicates, especially in Venus Versus Virus when Sumire was in her berserker mode. The difference between Noragami & Venus Versus Virus is that the plot in Noragami is organized better than compared to Venus Versus Virus, especially when it comes to the animation. The animation in Noragami looks more pleasing to the eye than compared to Venus Versus Virus.

Survival genres. We see them in almost every anime. Akuma no Riddle is similar to Mirai Nikki in the sense that in order to survive or win, you have to defeat your enemies. Not only that, both anime have a darker story to them and especially action scenes. Both anime have a person protecting another person. Just like a bodyguard protecting the hunted from the hunters. In Mirai Nikki: Yuno protecting Yukiteru In Akuma no Riddle: Tokaku protecting Haru However, the difference between Mirai Nikki & Akuma no Riddle is the characters. All of the cast members are female in Akuma no Riddle, while Mirai Nikki has both male and female participants.
