I've completed the second and last season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Oh how I wish it would never end. All good things have an end, and to me this is one of those things I consider good, great even. It's not really over, I know about the movie. I'm not so much looking forward to it because of how sad it is. I know it's amazing, but still… do I want to upset myself with that masterpiece of a film? Yes. The answer is yes. I will be watching it and I will be enjoying it. I wish the episodes were not scrambled

around on here. It's showing two completely different watch orders and it's bugging me the hell out. I stuck to the Chronological watch order of this series, which is the way everyone should watch this series. HOLY CRAP! I just checked and the movie is 2 hours and 41 minutes! I seriously don't remember it being that long. I loved this season and I sure as hell loved this anime. I recommend it to everyone who happens to stumble across this stupid review of mine. Please Please PLEASE WATCH THIS ANIME!
WATCHED IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!!!
Episode 15 - “Endless Eight IV”
Episode 16 - “Endless Eight V”
Episode 17 - “Endless Eight VI”
Episode 18 - “Endless Eight VII”
Episode 19 - “Endless Eight VIII”
Episode 20 - “The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part One”
Episode 21 - “The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Two”
Episode 22 - “The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Three”
Episode 23 - “The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Four”
Episode 24 - “The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Five”
Episode 25 - “The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00”
Episode 26 - “Live Alive”
Episode 27 - “The Day of Sagittarius”
Episode 28 - “Someday in the Rain”
First, I want to talk about the Endless Eight arc. This arc wasn't as beautiful as I remembered it. It was actually very tragic for one reason in particular. That reason being that Yuki Nagato experienced the same two weeks 15,532 times before Kyon finally doing something and breaking the loop. Yuki experienced almost 600 years worth of 1 neverending goddamn summer. HOW DOES SHE FEEL ABOUT THAT!? It's only until the last episode of the Endless Eight arc where we see that things might have changed. When theyre all back at the clubroom, Kyon mentions Yuki not being there for once and I wondered what she might be doing. This is what I'm talking about when I say I love Yuki Nagato. She is so thought provoking and she always makes me wonder “How is she feeling?”. I care so much about Yuki, it's kind of crazy. I feel so terrible for her, it's seriously traumatic to go through all of that. But then again, she's an alien and as she said many times, her job is to only observe. I just feel bad and I know she probably doesn't even feel a thing about it, but can I say that for sure? Can she or can she not feel things? Maybe it's not in her system…
The Endless Eight episodes were all the same. I binged through them all in one day. I have another thing to say about the last episode of the Endless Eight arc, when Kyon finally stands up and says something to Haruhi (where he breaks the loop), I have to say that scene was beautifully animated. Anybody could watch that one scene and catch interest in this anime almost immediately. Nah, that's probably something that would only catch my interest. I'm glad the Endless Eight is over. I wonder if the endless summer was shorter or longer for Yuki and the SOS Brigade in the light novels..?
The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya arc. Five whole episodes of the SOS Brigade shooting a movie for the school festival. These five episodes were the funniest episodes that this series had to offer. I'm so happy these episodes came right after the Endless Eight arc. Man, I love the chronological order that was given to me. If I was given this series in Broadcast order, I wouldn't be so happy and I wouldn't be writing this review in the first place. These episodes really show you how powerful Haruhi is with her thoughts and wishes. Whatever she wants, it's granted. There's something else I wanted to bring up about these episodes. As much as they were funny, they also painted a picture of Haruhi and they showed you how she actually is. Haruhi in these 5 episodes alone is SUPER rough and tough on MIss Asahina. I can't say it wasn't funny though. I have to say, the “movie” or the episode showing off what they filmed throughout the episodes, it paid off. It was hilarious! I still can't believe that was the first episode they broadcasted on television. Overall, it's definitely a 10/10. While we're on the topic of broadcast order, the first episodes aired on television for this series were crazy! It had me wondering what people thought about this anime when it first aired.
Let me get sidetracked for a little bit. The openings and endings in this anime are TOP TIER ELITE. In season one there's obviously Opening 1 - Bouken Desho Desho
Also included in season one has to be one of the best endings ever, Ending 1 - Hare Hare Yukai
THAT ENDING WITH ITS MUSIC AND VISUALS ARE SO ADDICTING! The dance is everything to me. I was obsessed with that dance for so long.
In season two we were introduced to yet another amazing opening, Opening 2 - Super Diver
For the ending there was, Ending 2 - Tomare!
These two theme songs worked so well together in season 2. I was stunned with how they made them, truly unique and amazing. All these theme songs from both seasons worked so well together, they all got me excited to watch the anime. Well anyways, that's all I had to say.
There's not much else to say about this anime. I've said everything that's on my mind. I hope there's a future for this series. I hope many watch and enjoy this as much as I did. Man, I REALLY don't want to watch the movie. I don't want to be sad. I'm going to buy the blu-ray, I don't know when but i'll have it eventually. THE MOVIE TOO! I'll have it all in my collection. I'm going to miss binging this. It's definitely going to take me a while to come back to this anime, no matter how much I love it. The last time I watched this series was back in January 2021. 3 WHOLE YEARS NOW! It's crazy thinking about it. I'm off now. If you stumble across this review and happen to read this, give this anime a watch. It deserves it, it's unique in its own special way. You wont regret it. Thank You SOS SO MUCH!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has to be one of the greatest anime of all time. It most certainly is one of my favorite media of all time, from back when I first watched it in 2021 to now rewatching it in 2024. I'm not finished with the series just yet but just watching this first season again brought back so many good memories of being in quarantine and binging anime all day everyday. This series seriously took a toll on me. I was obsessed with it so much I considered buying all the light novels just to get some more Haruhi in my system.
