Insomniacs after school is not a bad anime, but neither is it a good one.
I felt sort of bored throughout the story, as if I was just watching it for the sole purpose to watch it rather than for enjoyment.
There were definitely many scenes that moved me, and I related heavily with the main characters and their issues with insomnia/sleeping disorders, but most of the characters felt quite bland and unoriginal.
The art scenes with the starry skies, golden clouds, or shots focusing on Isaki were beautiful, and the animators definitely did a good job on those. This anime is basically just eye-candy. The animation is

Genuinely amazing anime and sequel. Mappa did a great job adapting farmland saga.
It is much slower-paced than the first action-packed season, and many complain about that, but this arc is not a story of war. it is a story of redemption and growth. There are countless other, great action-packed anime to watch, so if you are here for that, you will not find it here. What you will find here is a slow burn story with amazing character development and blossoming relationships that genuinely feel life changing. this show is weirdly good but also weirdly bad at times? a lot of the negative situations/arcs that happen aren't even entertaining, they're just frustrating to watch - like, constantly stealing from our main girl, constantly belittling her, making her go through shit in a way that feels just plain boring and annoying, it was always just characters getting jealous and doing something out of spite to her. i hate how doomer-ish the plot feels at times.
