Kuromukuro

Although Inuyasha & Kuromukuro are different, they shared couple of interesting parallel. When I watched Kuromukuro, I'm being kept reminded of Inuyasha as I continued to watch the show. -Kennosuke Ouma & Inuyasha are both characters from the past interacting with modern setting. Both Kennosuke & Inuyasha both came from Sengoku Era. -Kennosuke was awakened by Yukina in different but almost similar to how Kagome awakened Inuyasha. -Kennosuke's protectee, Yukihime looks a lot like Yukina in a parallel manner like Kikyo in Inuyasha resemble Kagome. Kennosuke protected Yukihime in the same manner Inuyasha protected Kikyo. -Kennosuke and Yukina's dynamic rocky relationship mirror Inuyasha & Kagome's rocky relationship in both series. -Kennosuke & Inuyasha both have restraining tool attached to their neck to keep them under control & obedient. So if you're a fan of one of these 2 series, give each other a watch.

Kuromukuro

When I watched this anime, I do see couple of parallel between Evangelion & Kuromukuro: Alien/extraterrestrial forces have tried to conquer earth in the past and again in modern time. This happened in both series. Efi Dorg in Kuromukuro are very much like Angels in Evangelion. The mecha used in Kuromukuro is based on alien technology. Eva in Evangelion are also based on alien material. Yukina & Shinji are young teens that started out as inexperienced pilots. Yukina's mother, Hiromi is the director and chief researcher of UN Laboratory in Kurobe is very much like Shinji's father, Gendo being the director of NERV. Yukina's mother being a chief researcher/scientist is parallel to Shinji's late mother, Yui who is chief scientist is another parallel between the 2 series. But there's a difference. Yukina and her mother has a rocky relationship dynamic similar to Shinji and his dad. Yukina's father shared some similarities to Yui Ikari, Shinji's late mother. If you're an Evangelion fan, give Kuromukuro a watch. If you're a Kuromukuro fan that never any other anime, give Neon Genesis Evangelion a try given that both of them are on Netflix.

Mugen Senshi Valis

This 3-minute special for promoting the NES port/version of Valis: The Fantasm Soldier was directed by 2 famous directors, Hideaki Anno (yes, that same Anno) who would later founded Gainax and created the beloved groundbreaking anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion. The other director is Katsuhiko Nishijima (director behind Project A-Ko, Agent Aika). So how is this 3-minute anime promo connected to Kill la Kill? If you watched the promo carefully near the end, you'll see where Kill la Kill got it's influence from. Given that this was directed by Hideaki Anno, I suspected Studio Trigger (studio that was formed by former Gainax animators) may have used this 3-minute promo as some sort of inspiration for Kill la Kill. Yuko Asou fighting another opponent in the promo is very much like Ryuko Matoi's in Kill la Kill. So this 3-minute promo for a video game was Kill la Kill before Kill la Kill was even created.

The other director is Hideaki Anno (the same Anno who would later create Neon Genesis Evangelion). If you looked at Yuko's design in the animation promo, she look just like Eiko "A-ko" Magami with blue hair. Now because Nishijima directed this short alongside Anno, now we know why Yuko in the promo short looks too much like A-Ko in term of character design. If you want to see A-Ko's look alike, look no further then this anime promo.

Shakugan no Shana
|
If you watched both Bleach & Shakugan no Shana, you'll see a lot of similarities. -Both involved supernatural after-life life forms that harm humans (Hollows in Bleach, Crimson Denizen/Tomogara in Shakugan no Shana). -both involved spiritual protectors/enforcers that are human/pseudo-humans (shnigami/soul reapers in Bleach, flame haze in Shakugan No Shana). -main male character (Yuji Sakai in Shakugan No Shana, Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach) meet a mysterious female main character (Shana in Shakugan no Shana, Rukia Kuchiki in Bleach). Although both Yuji and Ichigo can see spirit, they differ a lot by personality, & other things. So if you are a fan of Bleach, chances are you might find Shakugan No Shana to fit your taste given that the premise of both titles are very similar.

Fire Tripper

Both Fire Tripper & Inuyasha were created by Rumiko Takahashi. If you watched both of them, you'll see a lot of similarities. Suzuko (Fire Tripper) will kind of remind you of Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha) given that they both are teenage girls from modern time ended up going to feudal-era Japan. Shukumaru (Fire Tripper) is not a half-demon like Inuyasha, but both of them defend the main female character, there are differences but I won't spoil them. But when you watch Fire Tripper you'll realize that's where Inuyasha got part of it's DNA from. If you wanted to know where Inuyasha's inspiration come from, then I would recommend Fire Tripper. Fire Tripper is basically Inuyasha Zero, Inuyasha: the beginning, Inuyasha: Origin. Whatever you want to call it, every Inuyasha fans should watch Fire Tripper to know where one-half of Inuyasha's origin came from.

Wedding Peach will feel a lot like Sailor Moon when you watched the show. I want to add that Sukehiro Tomita, the creator of Wedding Peach was also one of the writer for the Sailor Moon TV series. Also Kazuko Tadano served as a character designer for both Sailor Moon & Wedding Peach TV series. Also, some of the ideas in Wedding Peach may have derived from Sailor Moon too. So if you want to watch something similar or feels like Sailor Moon, then Wedding Peach will fill in that same excitement.

Futari wa Precure
|
Both Sailor Moon & Futari wa Precure are created by Toei, has magical girl concept similar to Sailor Moon. It's directed by Daisuke Nishio of Dragonball Z fame. Also this is for all the anime fan parent out there with young kid: If you have a daughter/child as young as 7 years old, but you can't show Sailor Moon in it's uncut form because of the dark subject matter later in the later season, just use Precure as a 7-8 year old friendly alternative if you're concerned about showing Sailor Moon's uncut content. Precure is more child-friendly for below 9 years old girls if you want to improve their reading skill (Precure is subtitled after all, and the uncut version has no objectionable content other then mild language).
