Overview: Kuragehime follows a young woman who lacks self-confidence, but has a strong passion for Jellyfish after a trip to the aquarium as a child. After a chance meeting with a beautiful (cross-dressing) model, she slowly learns to accept herself and begins expressing her passion of jellyfish by designing clothes. Similarities: Both Kuragehime and Runway de Waratte have a strong emphasis on following your passion and use clothes as the medium. Each show explores the idea of what makes people unique and beautiful, and takes the viewer on a complex emotional journey after the characters are taken out of their comfort zones through a chance encounter. Differences: Kuragehime is slower paced, as the plot is driven more through character interaction and internal struggles instead of competition. The show also focuses on the path to finding clothes as the means of expression rather than the clothing design industry.
