Liar Liar is a solid anime that draws you in with its intriguing concept and well-executed art style. While not necessarily groundbreaking in terms of visuals, the animation is clean and effective, bringing the characters and their environments to life. The character designs are sharp, and the animation is fluid enough to keep you engaged during the competitive matches. The artwork is polished and fits well with the tone of the story, complementing the high-stakes atmosphere without overwhelming it.

The plot revolves around a series of game competitions at a prestigious school, where students engage in challenges that are easy to follow and understand. The rules ... of the games are explained simply, which makes them accessible even to viewers who aren’t familiar with competitive games. This simplicity allows the focus to stay on the characters and the drama of each match, keeping things tense and entertaining throughout.

However, there’s one major flaw that undermines the entire premise (not a spoiler... this is explained in the first 5 minutes of the anime): the handling of the protagonist’s star rank. The main character is a one-star student, but his special ability allows him to lie and claim he's a seven-star, which gives him an unfair advantage in the eyes of others. While this adds a layer of strategy to his actions, it directly contradicts the established rules of the competition. According to the system, students with higher stars can’t request matches with someone ranked lower, yet throughout the series, characters keep requesting matches with him despite his one-star status. This creates a glaring inconsistency in the story that doesn't make much sense when you stop to think about it.

It feels like the writers didn't fully consider the consequences of this rule and how it disrupts the logic of the world they've built. If the system can't hold up under its own rules, it’s hard to fully invest in the stakes of the matches, especially when such a crucial detail is ignored.

The premise of this anime, where the princess despises being with the prince and constantly tries to escape, starts with potential, but quickly becomes frustrating. Despite the princess’s clear desire for freedom and refusal to marry the prince, he continues to keep her locked in the castle, essentially as a prisoner. What boggles my mind is why the prince still insists on marrying her when it’s obvious that she wants nothing to do with him. His motivations for such an obsessive pursuit remain unclear, making his actions seem less like genuine affection and more like possessiveness. What’s even more puzzling is that her brother, fully ... aware of his sister's wishes, supports the prince's actions and even helps him keep her confined. This lack of respect for the princess's autonomy is baffling and takes away from what could have been an interesting story about freedom and choice. Instead, it becomes hard to sympathize with the prince’s obsessive behavior, leaving me disconnected from the characters and the plot.
To make matters worse, the writing fails to balance the tone of the story. For a rom-com, it’s astonishingly poorly executed—particularly when the characters almost die from a monster attack, only to later talk about how "fun" their day was (episode 8). This dramatic inconsistency not only undermines the stakes of the plot but also highlights the show's lack of attention to detail in creating a believable emotional journey. It's a huge missed opportunity to create something engaging or even remotely grounded.

This is the first time I watch an anime with this plot formula, so I'm finding it somewhat interesting.

The biggest problem of this anime was in the episode 5 and prepare yourself because it's big spoiler: The guy abandoned the blue eyes blond princess smart and intelligent girl for a furry! Dammit! The girl was throwing herself at him and he went for the cat girl? Nah! You lost me HARD here!
There is not much to say about the story! Everybody already described much better and already made better comparisons with other plots that follow the same formula.
I'm not dropping because I want to know ... how much a wimp this stupid mc is.. but right now I'm heavily disappointment! Regardless if this is a plot twist for him to attend the blond girl wedding and she goes "I can't believe you left me... I was so in love with you blablabla" and then they kiss and live happily ever after!

I'm really tired of stories where the guy acts like a wimp, especially when it's obvious he has no reason to feel that way.

The issue could always be easily resolved with a simple conversation or by clarifying things right after saying something awkward.
But instead, the guy ends up spending 10 minutes in each episode whining about how stupid, insecure, and bad at communicating with women he is.

The funny parts are not great. There is to much drama for a rom-com. A funny comedy where people are always crying and remembering their tragic past? Makes no sense.

The story is somewhat good!

This is the first time I write a review. The only reason I do that is because I LOVE this series.

The season 3 can't be compared to any of the other season and neither to the movies. It's subpar through and through.
All the actions, all the adrenaline, all the emotions from the other installments are missing here. Clinging to the minor moments and tropes/cliché that didn't help.

The first 11 episodes do not add anything. The entire season plot happens during the 2 last episodes. Taking that in consideration, they could have done something super interesting in the first 11 episodes and added minor links to ... the last two episodes and called it a day. That would make the entire season a 8/10 or 9/10.... but no... an entire uninteresting build, slow burned subplots that ends into nothing and disconnected.

It was a very sad season.
