"Red is supposed to be the color of fate, right? Even if it’s annoying now, it might connect to something good when you least expect it."
Sure, but 79 chapters in and it's still pretty annoying. Alas, Akagami no Shirayukihime. I've finished you. I came on to read other reviews following my finishing of the manga and show and I've got to say, I'm extremely confused. This manga is rated relatively high for being pretty mediocre at best. Let's dive in, shall we?
Story: There's close to zero plot. I've honestly never felt that a plot could have been so easily resolved dozens of chapters prior. It's
...
really just your average Mary Sue-type, boring protagonist who happens upon a prince whilst fleeing from another prince because something about her makes her special i.e. her hair (go figure). It's red as an apple which sure, red hair may be appealing, but it's literally just hair. But whatever. The rest of the story is pretty much just her making her way into the castle in Clarines and falling in love with a prince who falls in love with her too, all the while learning to be a pharmacist and whatnot. That's it. That's literally the entire plot. Here and there they run into problems because of her hair, but that's it. It's not creative at all and the parts about her job are ridiculously boring.
Art: Average. Nothing special or specifically appealing about any of it.
Characters: Alright, I have a lot to say about the characters. First, let's start with the main protagonist: Shirayuki. Booooooooooring. Wow. I have never been so bored and utterly puzzled by how much the other characters swoon for her. She's not particularly interesting to say the least. She works with medicine and plants and that's really all she's got going for her. The other characters tend to think she's unique and headstrong, but I don't really see it. She's pretty average. She could really be a side character. I mean, yeah, she's nice and intelligent, but that's all. Anyway, she's in love with the prince and I don't know, she has zero character development whatsoever. I can say that she does somehow help other characters develop in their own way. I guess she's influential and inspiring, so she has that going for her. Next up: Zen the prince. He's somewhat interesting, but not really. He's kind and genuinely makes an effort to be a good prince and succeeds. It's pretty admirable. But when it comes to Shirayuki... VOMIT. He's annoying. He's weirdly obsessed with her in a way and overprotective as hell; Always forcing one of his people to follow her around (though I'm not complaining cause that character is awesome, but we'll get there). He wants to marry her and make out with her and whatever, but gets weird and shy about it all the time. They've kissed before, but when his hand bumps into hers, he turns bright red. Why? Next up, we'll do two characters at the same time now: Mitsuhide and Kiki. I actually like these characters. They do and don't put up the Zen's bs. They are extremely loyal, but aren't afraid to tell him when he's wrong. I think they're all around interesting and I just want them to be together already, geeeeez. I'm only going to review one more character and that's the best, most interesting character of the entire series and the only reason I stuck with it so long: Obi. Mysterious and dangerous, yet sarcastic, talkative, and also curiously loyal to Zen. Obi is definitely worth every minute of the show/manga. We don't know much about him and he's a bit wishy-washy, but he's hilarious and unpredictable, and albeit, cool. The only downside is he's also freakishly fond of Shirayuki. Come on, he can do better than that.
Enjoyment: It's average. Really only rating it so high because of Obi. It just feels like a show going nowhere with a bunch of side story fillers that delude from the main plot. It can be entertaining at times, but often the romance and constant talk of medicine is cringeworthy.
Overall: 6. Again, because of Obi. This is not a great manga and I don't understand why everyone thinks it is. Will I still read it, though? Yeah. If you're bored and have nothing else to read, give it a shot.

This show is absolutely atrocious. I don't even want to give it a full review because I loathe it so much.
Storyline: Can't completely tell you. I only survived the first few episodes (somehow) and I wanted to claw my eyes out. Boring as hell and the comedy was AWFUL. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. So bad.
Art: Even worse. The art is terrible.
Sound: Don't care.
Characters: WHY. They're all so irritating. Not a single one was interesting.
Overall: 1. I hate this show. I don't know why it's so popular. I couldn't even give this a full, thought-provoking review because I got annoyed typing this much. Would not
...
recommend ever.

I don't even want to start this off with a quote or something to grab anyone's attention because this show didn't really grab mine, so let's just hop to it.
Storyline: The storyline was unique. The demon lord, Satan himself, goes head-to-head with the hero, Emilia, and ends up escaping into another "world" (Japan). He and his right-hand man, Alciel, decide to adapt to the culture, move in together, get jobs, blend into society, etc. But Satan's buddy can't hold down a job, so it's up to him to be the bread winner. He gets a job at a fast food joint and totally kicks ass.
...
He's the best of the best and is able to charm his coworkers. Kind of a weird quirk for a fricking demon, but whatever? He eventually runs into Emilia who now goes by "Emi" and she still vows to kill him at all costs. Meanwhile, people from their world (Ente Isla) keep appearing and somehow have lots of power all the time, but Satan and Emilia can't seem to muster up their strength. I get that Satan gets stronger from feeding off fear, but come on. I mean, he's SATAN. But okay. They beat the baddies and then befriend them. Makes sense. Because the anime only has one season, it fell short. There were no clear goals or resolutions. The only thing that made this somewhat entertaining was the mediocre comedy.
Art: As far as art goes, it was basic. Nothing was amazing. No jaw-dropping fight scenes or anything.
Sound: The characters' voices were fine, I guess? And the music... I don't really remember it. I guess it didn't really stick out much.
Characters: Satan has zero character development whatsoever. He was supposed to be almighty before and now he's content with living a normal life without being bad? Why? No clear answer. It's basically "just because". Emilia is fricking annoying. She's a stalker and has to remind you every five miliseconds that she's "the hero", but also vows to kill all the bad guys. Now how does that work out? As for the side characters, they're all rats. They all kind of suck, every girl is obsessed with Satan, and the men are dramatic.
Overall: I gave this show a 6. I should rate it lower, but whatever. I find this fair. I made it through all 13 episodes. Anything is possible, I suppose. I wouldn't recommend this show, but I didn't hate it.

"Help me. I can't hear the notes."
How many times did we have to relive this melodramatic, traumatic moment in little Kousei's life? The answer: Pretty much every damn episode.
This wasn't a terrible show. In fact, I quite liked it, but I can recognize that it was very flawed. Very, very flawed.
The storyline: The story was decent. I thought it was light-hearted and emotional. However, it dragged on and on. This could have ended much earlier than it did and the amount of flashbacks had me confused on whether I was watching Shigatsu or Naruto. Some points were just meh, but others were really good. It
...
was tedious and slow. I do agree with the other reviews in that the comedy vs. the seriousness didn't mesh well. The comic relief was misplaced and ruined a lot of could-be touching moments.
Art: The art was extremely visually-appealing. The way the cherry blossoms flew with the breeze and the piano sparkled slightly, even the blue of the main character's eyes were all delightful. The art was definitely the best part of the show.
Sound: I watched this in English because it was on Netflix, so that was easier than searching for the Japanese version. I liked the characters' voices. None of them really seemed to annoy me. The one thing that was really, REALLY agonizing was their crying. Who scream-cries every single time? I understand it's a drama, but jesus christ, that was dramatic. The music was fine. To be honest, I'm partial to classical music, so it was rather enjoyable to me.
Characters: The main character Kousei was gentle and sweet, but rather annoying at times. Mostly because we had to keep hearing about his sob story over and over. He moped and practically drowned himself in his own self-pity, but to be fair, he progressed in the character development department with flying colors. Now Kaori was fun and happy, but her random bursts of rage were usually out of place and unnecessary. She was also bossy and manipulative, but she wasn't terrible. As for the other characters, some of them didn't really seem necessary to be included in the story. Most of them didn't develop at all.
Overall: I gave this a 7. I may have ranked it higher had it not dragged on for 22 episodes and the scream-crying. OH, GOD, THE SCREAM-CRYING. It's a good show. It's also a bad show. It's both. I would recommend it if you're bored and can't seem to find anything else.

If there's one thing I love about anime, it's Hayao Miyazaki's contribution to it. All of his movies are emotionally-gripping, but this one in particular will always be my favorite and it damn sure deserves all the love and praise it gets!
One of the first movies in the cinematic anime universe anyone should watch is the beloved Spirited Away. Even the name has a blissful ring to it. It captivates you from the get-go, just as the eerie breeze, "abandoned" amusement park, and questionable food captivates little Chihiro's parents in the very beginning.
Things sure do go bump in the night! As Chihiro begins to
...
disappear, the fun, creepy, goofy, and intimidating spirits appear. That's when she meets the ever-so helpful Haku.
The mystery, the silent love, the visually-appealing scenes, the hope that Chihiro will remember who she is and make it home again, the... everything.
It's a fun little rollercoaster from start to finish and you can't help cheering the characters on. Though the ending is bittersweet, I dare you to try not to smile. Have you watched it yet? Your heart is happy, huh?
I give it a 10. You should, too. Who wouldn't? Let's be honest. Hayao Miyazaki, thank you for this film.

Naruto, Naruto, Naruto.
This show gets a lot of hate and a lot of praise; rarely anything in between. I can understand both sides, if we're being honest here. This show is WAY overhyped, I will admit. Do I hate it? No. Do I love it? Almost ashamed to admit it.
I think this show was the first show I actually watched the American premier and stuck with it after all these years. At first, I preferred the American version to the Japanese because I hated reading subtitles, but now I prefer the Japanese, only because some characters' voices are "slightly" less irritating. But both are fine.
...
Character-wise: Wow, where to begin? The characters in this show are ridiculously dramatic: tragic pasts, bad choices because of them, familial issues, blah blah blah. But despite their bitter attitudes, the main character, Uzumaki Naruto, somehow manages to change people's points of view almost every time without fail with his famous "speeches". Now I, personally, have never been in a fight, but I'm not sure any super villains will just stand around and watch you make a speech while wallowing in your own self-pity. Everyone eventually becomes obsessed with Naruto and after all those years of Naruto wishing everyone would like him, he ends up not giving a flying *$&^! Wanna know why? Uchiha Sasuke.
Plot-wise: Yikes, Masashi Kishimoto, what have you done to Naruto? To your fans? To yourself? I think Kishimoto has enough plot holes to use as graves for every single Naruto character ever. But do fans turn the other cheek? Always. Why? Because we're so deep into this thing, why question anything now? Just shrug it off and wait for the next eye-roller he dishes out.
The worst thing about this show? You guessed it! FILLERS ON FILLERS ON FILLERS ON FILLERS ON... Well, you get it. Need I say more?
Yes, I'm bashing the ever-living daylight out of this show, but as I said before, I don't hate it. To be honest, I'll always hold a special place in my heart for Naruto. Yeah, yeah, corny, I know. Would I recommend it? I'd be too ashamed to. I'd tell you to run the other way immediately before you get sucked it.
And still, I rate it a 7. I've been with it from the beginning and I saw it through the end.

Unpopular opinion: First FMA series is better than Brotherhood.
Sorry, everyone. It started off good, but then I became blatantly bored. It aimed towards younger audiences than the first series in my opinion.
News flash: Just because it follows the manga, doesn't mean it's better than the first anime series. And it's not. It had a lot of childish comedy, which is usually no big deal, but I was annoyed. Some of the characters that were in Brotherhood really bothered me. Guess I preferred the "Seven Deadly" Homunculi in the first series to this one as well.
While I will admit, this ending made my heart happy wayyyyyyyyyyyy
...
more than the first, it's still not my favorite. Honestly, if they had combined the first series storyline with Brotherhood's ending: MASTERPIECE. Anyway, not terrible. FMA will always be one of my favorite stories, just not the one I prefer. I would still recommend watching Brotherhood to anyone and I still give it a good score because it was a good series.

To be honest, I can recognize that Ao Haru Ride is pretty cheesy and extremely cliche. However, it is my guilty pleasure.
I was very unsure of this anime during the first episode because the main female character has an annoying voice and the main male was kind of lame, but he definitely changes into a much better character! (Can't say the same for her annoying voice).
The storyline isn't original and definitely not surprising. The way the main characters argue and how they always just "happen" to run into each other is pretty ridiculous.
I think if I didn't like the main male character so much,
...
I wouldn't have watched this show, but he definitely made the show entertaining.
I probably wouldn't recommend this show to most people, but for those looking for a corny romantic time-killer, this is the show for you! Not sure if they're renewing for another season, but if you want to know the ending, you'll have to follow up the last episode with the manga.

One of the first anime I ever watched and forever one of my favorites. Fullmetal Alchemist makes you feel for the characters and hooks you onto the storyline.
Although steers away from the original manga, the way this story is portrayed is amazing and I genuinely prefer it to Brotherhood. It's a bit darker and the ending breaks your heart. Even the movie that follows never completely mends it.
The characters are great. The two main brothers have a bond like no other and the allies they gain along the way are just as admirable. Even the villains are likable.
The way the creator brings alchemy
...
to life is what makes this anime one of a kind. I love this anime and would recommend it to everyone. It's truly worth it.

I have noticed this anime's reception is very black and white. You either love it or you hate it. You consider it a classic or just a ridiculous show that premiered in the middle of the night.
For me, it's a classic. I watched it when I was very young, and I love, love, love it to this day. The storyline is fun. Even when it steers from the original plot, the fillers aren't even horrible (compared to shows like Naruto). They're light and entertaining.
As far as the characters go, I enjoy them. None of the characters really got on my nerves. No extremely annoying
...
voices or quirks and it's pretty hard to pick favorites.
It can get slightly tedious and frustrating considering how long the show ran, but coming from someone who has re-watched this twice, it's a good one to pass the time.
