This is my first review on mal I can start by saying I was pretty disappointed by Ousama Ranking. The first two episodes pulled me into the story, and I will admit I cried at the start of this anime. I had high hopes going into the rest of this anime, but sadly what I thought was going to be potentially anime of the year for me turned into a big let down. To start I would like to say I enjoyed the premise for the story, and I like the idea of kings getting ranks and whatnot. The music was appealing when I first

started, but the art was a little weird in my opinion.
Overall I would easily give the first few eps a solid score, but after around the half way point, or a little sooner the anime went down hill. The rest of this review isn't intended to bash the anime, but I have quite a few complaints. I felt like after Bojji gets knocked into the hole to the underworld the rest of the anime falls with it. Domas is the first example I can give were the author just doesn't know what to do with certain characters. He "kills" Bojji, and not that long after we can tell that Domas deeply regrets what hes done, but then why kill him in the first place? This is a bit of a shallow example since it can be explained by realizing that Domas believes the kings word is absolute.
I agree that this example isn't perfect, but other characters also exhibit these same qualities. King Bosse for example doesn't know whether he wants to be a good dad, or be evil they cant choose what they want to do. One of my other major complaints is a plot element that pops up in the later episodes. The deus ex machina that happends over and over again in the later episodes is actually crazy. I actually cant believe how much this author throws random heals, and other stuff out I actually think I am watching dragon ball, or something.
One other final complaint I have is in concept a deaf, and mute child becoming a great king, and rising through the rankings is interesting. The way this author decides to go with the Miranjo plot is one of the most disappointing parts of this anime. Not to mention I cant help, but feel like a massive amount of her backstory is seemingly missing, or shortened. I wish he would of focused on the world building better in the first season, and maybe introduced more kings. Instead we got one character Desha who is now going to be number 1? Weird how this scaling is going to work going forward since Desha<Bojji I mean I really cant see where we are going after this.
Bojji is now freakishly strong for some reason, and he has the skill the pierce through basically anything. Why? Where is the struggle from the earlier episodes if he is just the strongest now. The author should of slowly power scaled him, and honestly with how he handled scaling in this season alone I cant imagine he gets any better with the next. Personally I think he should focus less on power scaling, and more on the world building, and character building.
I still gave this anime a decent score for what it is worth because I did still enjoy it for the most part. I just really disliked some of the direction he took with this anime, and how in retrospect he snuffed a lot of the potential out.
Thanks for reading.
