Nothing in this work makes any kind of sense.
Art: Some solid 2-page spreads. Looks quite good when it comes to drawing cables and data. Everything else is terrible. The anatomy in humans is sub par, and everything is inked way too much to the point of some scenes being unintelligible.
The ugly artstyle, a product of it's time for sure, fits the plot well, but it was hard for me to read with it being so ugly and all. I don't need some cutesy moe shit either, but damn is this artstyle hard to digest on (current year).
There's quite a lot of
...
gruesome scenes, and straight up just gore, children dying and shit. I didn't mind it much, this actually worked as a positive for the story, made me feel uncomfortable at some points which is a feat on it's own.
Plot / characters: Every single chapter is beyond ridiculous and (if you dare read this work) you will have a VERY, VEEEEERY hard time suspending your disbelief.
Characters have a very small set of emotions they display through the story, making them quite one-dimensional.
None of the characters are very interesting at all and I found them all to be absolutely stupid. Every decision they make do NOT follow or even try to follow logic. I'm having a hard time putting into words my discontent with the way characters act.
They just don't feel like humans at all.
The only interesting character (Shingo) is also the weirdest one. His powers are hardly ever explained and things just happen because YES. And when I say things happen, I mean SHIT ABSOLUTELY GOES DOWN (with actual world ending events that end up not having any real consequence). NOTHING HERE MAKES SENSE AND THINGS HAPPEN JUST BECAUSE. One chapter you're shown a robot in the verge of death, walking by sheer evolutionary force and instinct, and the other chapter, with no explanation at all on how it got there, you see it taking over a military ship. What the actual fuck.
Dialogue: Why do they speak like that. I don't know if I read a bad translation, or if for some reason 80's japanese gets translated roughly to english, but boy does the dialogue not help an already dumb as fuck, squizo-rambling level of plot. This just made the characters even more annoying, and as I said before, makes them feel like something not quite human. I just can't get into the story when my suspension of disbelief is at my feet trying to reach the earths magma core due to how stupid the dialogue gets.
The only positive I can give it is that it's a fast read (for me atleast).
The only other work I've read from this author is also bizarre and doesn't make much sense at all, sharing the same annoying format for dialogue. For some reason his works get quite a bit of praise and I think it's absolutely undeserved, was it written in the 1970 or now, it doesn't matter.
I will be avoiding anything written by Kazuo Umezu.

A set of 9 short stories that make no sense at all.
This work is not to be taken seriously, as the vast majority of them (except 2) are just bizarre in every aspect perceivable.
The most normal thing this work has to offer is it's artstyle, which is admittedly, pretty nice yet simple.
Of these 9 shorts, only 2 of them are worth writing something about, with the rest being completely unconsenquential on the readers opinion or straight up, a detriment to the final score this manga could have gotten.
These 2 stories mentioned are also the longest ones in the set, with "BOKU-chan" being
...
4 chapters and "beat you up" being 2.
(I won't be giving detail into the plot of the stories given, as I feel it would be better for the reader to experience themselves.)
If the author had made more stories akin to the 2 ones mentioned, then this set would be great!
The plots are unique, bizarre, humorous, and even cute to an extent. Goes to show where the true talent of this mangaka falls on, I would be genuinely interested in reading these 2 stories in a longer format.
The rest of the stories available are just nonsensical, a little edgy/tasteless, and over all, boring.
One could argue there's a deeper meaning to them, but making an analysis is far too much effort for a work like this one.
The first 4 stories are just dumb and forgettable.
The 5th and 6th stories are nice!!!!
The 7th is so boring and inconsequential I almost dont have an opinion about it.
the last 2 stories are based on the real world, giving the author's POV on a basketball game.
While somewhat interesting, it ends up being boring. It has a fairly big amount of dialogue too, as it is narrated by the author himself.
I haven't checked anything else made by this author yet, but I hope he went further into making comedic works like BOKU-chan.
In all honesty, just read boku chan... and skip the rest.

If you only watch this anime, then it's at most, a 6.5/10. if you compare it to the manga, then this anime adaptation is a 2/10 max.
While Dorohedoro is considered by many to be an iconic manga, I would still consider it pretty niche, the chances of an anime adaptation were really slim, and when the only chance came around they absolutely ruined it. Do yourself a favour and read the original work.
My Enjoyment and Overall score are strongly tied to the art direction, this left a bad taste in my mouth. I loved the manga, so this adaptation get's me depressed and I
...
can't give it more than a 2/10.
ART: Terrible. Absolutely terrible. If you've only seen the anime then you might think "well, the CGI wasn't that bad, I liked it". If you've read the manga, this animation style is a total disservice to the general artstyle of Dorohedoro, which is incredible unique, rough and dark.
The amazing paneling seen in the original work gets changed a lot in this adaptation, iconic scenes get censored by zooming in on the picture, and other moments get redone in different angles that feel lazy, uninspired, and lame. The character models are stiff and inexpressive, the clothing is specially rough. Some characters that get quite a bit of screentime don't even have a 3D model, they're always 2D. This clash of 2D and 3D goes to show how lazy or underbugdet this adaptation was, aesthetically displeasing to the max. I don't even want to get into how bad the fight scenes are.
STORY: If I had to review the story as a whole then the score would be higher, but as this anime only covers the first 2 arcs, it's only fair to give it a lower score in my opinion. While the starting point is interesting, the plot is still in a progressive state and it can get a little bit boring. This plot definitely has it's highs and lows ,and the starting arcs are more on the lower side unfortunately. This doesn't mean it's bad at all, it's a good introduction, and if you're faithful with Dorohedoros original story, then you can't go wrong. Great world building and concepts.
SOUND: The voice acting is good, the deliveries are on point and most characters voices fit them really well. Regarding the OST, it's quite good, and the ending changes from time to time while the opening stays the same.
CHARACTER: Nothing much to add here. Dorohedoros characters were amazing in the manga and so it would be weird if they weren't in this adaptation. My only problem is with Nikaido, which isn't as expressive as in the original work, everything else is okay and the Caiman-Nikaido dynamic is still great.

A boring collection of horror stories that makes you think "when will this end" even if it only has 11 chapters. That's how boring it is.
STORY: Pretty unique stories, extremely bizarre and graphic. With all of these being oneshots, don't expect anything deep or amazing. The plots are just ridiculous and gruesome for the sake of it, which can have it's own appeal, but falls flat when you realize the stories aren't important at all, they're just an excuse to make gory art. Maybe this would have worked better as a collection of art pieces and nothing else.
ART: With how mediocre this manga
...
is, the art is it's only redeeming quality. Full of gore to the very end, it would only get a reaction from the reader if it was their first time seeing blood and horrible deaths. If not, then it's just a boring collection of art pieces where people suffer and die in strange ways.
CHARACTERS: Nothing remarkable.
ENJOYMENT: Bored me to death, the only interesting plot was chapter 1 and even then, it was just a little bit less boring that the rest of the manga. The art didn't make me feel uncomfortable or terrified, it just exists there and that's it.
OVERALL: Just don't read this. even if it's only 11 chapters, just don't. Gore for the sake of gore is just edgy. It isn't even "so bad it's good", it's just bad.
Maybe read it if you're a huge fan of gore.

A short, endearing manga about two friends living in a town near a volcano.
story: the perfect blend of what makes the teenager experience:doing embarassing thing without knowing why, not being honest with yourself, trying to look cool, wanting a boyfriend/girlfriend, not knowing how to express yourself, not knowing what to do with your future, and the most important aspect, friendship that could last lifetimes.
While there are people who are introverted and totally shy, most humans get at least one best friend, that one that's irreplaceable, that you want to grow with, that you want to express your feelings to without knowing how to do
...
it while not being weird. This short story represents all of that for me, and does it flawlessly, with comedic bits, embarassing bits, and a full amazing take on friendship.
ART: Simple and to the point, works really well for this relaxed type of story telling, with a nice amount of impact when it comes to important moments. The faces, due to the doodle-like artstyle, look cute and/or really funny.
CHARACTER: The driving force of this manga, it certainly wouldn't be the same without our two protagonists. Both with very distinct personalities, but that are not totally one-dimensional, they both go through a very well done character progression and the way it's shown in the dialogue and the expressions and the actions of these two makes it special.
ENJOYMENT: My enjoyment of this work was high, I went into it without expecting much and left with a lot on my mind, and my heart too. An endearing experience that made my heart melt. Too many moments where I was "ah, I get it, I feel like that too" or "I remember feeling like that back then". Felt a little bit of myself on both characters, and thoroughly enyojed every bit of it.
OVERALL: Read this manga, you won't regret it. It was a 10 for me.

666Satan was done by Seishi Kishimoto, brother to Masashi Kishimoto, Naruto's creator.
The first 10 or 20 chapters of this manga will be filled with similarities between scenarios and concepts to Naruto, with moments that I can't quite understand if they were plagiarized from Naruto, or just a simple homage. From the protagonist, Jio Freed, who was bullied by other kids his age, who doesn't have fathers, who has an absurd dream (that of course will be achieved by the power of determination and friendship) and even to the concept of having an evil monster residing within him, the similarities are just too many. And
...
that's just mentioning Jio. Like, did I mention there are numbered beasts just like the Juubi that are being gathered by organizations??? Like the Akatsuki??????
STORY: A typical, generic shonen plot that spans from the protagonists childhood to his adolescence/adulthood, depending on when he defeats the antagonist. A plot that really doesn't go anywhere until a timeskip happens around the later half of the manga, which by then would have been like 30 chapters in (which seems a small number, but take into account that most mangas have 20 pages per chapter, 666 Satan has 40-50 pages per chapter). Of course, it starts from a very grounded standpoint until the story absurdly scales to a planetary level and then a universal level. A Truly ridiculous plot with nothing remotely interesting going on, even if the concept managed to be interesting, it doesn't manage to draw you in and make you care at all.
ART: HORRENDOUS. It gets better nearing the end, which shows the mangaka actually made a progress on his drawing skills. There are some really nicely done action panels and dynamic poses, but they're not worthy considering most of the art on these 76 chapters is down right bad.
CHARACTER: None of them are interesting, none of them will make you care about them or what happens to them, most of them aren't even likeable. Badly designed characters (With the protagonists looking like deviantart OCs) that are truly displeasing to look at. One dimensional personalities, the only thing they do is are preach about friendship and promises and the power of the heart. The best characters this manga have are Kirin sensei (with his design being an amalgamation of Jiraiya and Kakashi????) and... none other, honestly. Antagonist keep popping up out of nowhere with poor attempts at plot twists that are laughable. Not a single villain actually felt like one, considering how little development they got.
ENJOYMENT: The most subjective aspect of any review, enjoyment.
I must admit, my enjoyment of this manga was totally fucked by the scanlation teams who, without having good scans, nor editing and translation skills, decided to take on 666 Satan. Of course, this isn't the mangakas fault at all, I'm just saying that your enjoyment of this manga will be absolutely affected to whether you read it officially or you pirate it. Leaving external factors aside, the only enjoyable thing this manga has to offer are some cool panel and double pages art in the final chapters and that's it. Every chapter being 40-50 pages made me enjoy this even less.
Overall: I do not recommend this manga to anyone, not even hardcore shonen fans. I'm shocked to see such positively scored reviews on this manga, but the fact that they were written in 2008 has to be taken into account. I wonder if the people who gave this a 7/8/9/10 back then would think the same on a reread.

A cute short story about a girl riding a scooter and an old man riding a bee.
Made by Ashinano Hitoshi, the author of what is (probably) the best slice-of-life manga to ever exist, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.
Only 20 pages long, the characters, the story and the art get the job done, nothing special mind you, it's just a nice, adorable one-shot that you would probably skip over. I recommend it, not reading it would be a shame considering it's just one chapter, and it might brighten your day or your hour a little if you're feeling down.
(I'm adding this paragraph as filler due to MAL
...
requiring a longer character amount to submit the review)

A set of stories with a weird fixation on fish, the sea, and the abstraction of the everyday world.
Beautiful art that makes excellent use of contrast and white spaces, with the human characters drawn in a cutesy and really really simplified way, almost doodle-like, while the backgrounds have this eerie, realistic-but-out-of-this-world feeling to it, creepy and full with detail. When it comes to the abstraction, this is probably the best aspect of the artstyle, the mangaka really nails it when it comes to the deformation of the normal world into an alien space, and how the abstraction takes a role in the plot, items
...
and secondary characters.
The stories this work presents are all really interesting and unique, a little girl that out of nowhere finds herself in strange places, almost like entering a different dimesion. This bizarre/weird aspect is what gives it it's uniqueness, presening interesting concepts and abstractions and letting the reader form their own opinion on what happened or what's the meaning. The dialogue is probably the 2nd best trait this manga has (1st being the art), said dialogue manages to portray the naiveness of a child so well that you don't really question the plot at all, it makes it have a nice flow that gives it a good pacing in which you get lost until you finish this short, 14 chapter manga.
Watashi, the main character (and honestly, the only real character this manga has) became one of my favourites instantly. A funny and lovable main character, acting bored or unsurprised when presented with bizarre scenarios and not really trying to find logic on what she's doing or what surrounds her. She just accepts it, and goes along with it.
I enjoyed this read thoroughly, and I hope you will too. Considering the amount of chapters, not reading this manga is kind of a waste. Definitely recommended.

A compilation of differents artist's works on the Devilman universe. These stories are not canon nor important to the series, so you can read them whenever you want (of course, first having read the original Devilman).
Most of the little stories presented in this compilation are either unintelligible, boring or down right bad.
While this is a fast read (only 18 chapters) I would only reccommend this to Devilman Fanatics, and even for them this one should be hard to swallow. Bored me to death, maybe only 2 or 3 stories were interesting. There's also a few stories made by Nagai Go (the original creator
...
of Devilman) so you might want to read them, they're not that great but they were made by the man himself, so... overall, unless you're a hardcore fan, avoid this. Truly a waste of time.

(NO SPOILER)
You should read the original and inconcluse Maou Dante before reading this remake, I will judge this Remake based on the original rendition.
STORY: Even worse than the original's plot somehow. While both plots are the same, the structure in this one is changed completely, with the starting point being the plottwist/revelation of the first version of Maou Dante, making this remake void of any mystery or surprise, which makes it boring and a sludge to go through (Specially if you read the first Maou Dante before this, due to both mangas having the same plot with a different streamline). Also, don't expect a
...
good ending. Considering the 70's Maou Dante didn't have an ending, how bad could it be done IF it was done? well, read this remake and you will have your answer. While I praised the plot of the 70's Maou Dante for it's originality, this remake falls flat on it's face.
ART: Easily the best aspect of this work. While I still don't like Go Nagai's character designs and anatomy, this remake goes to show how much he has improved since the original version. The characters look waaaay better now, albeit they still don't look great in my opinion. Just like in the original, the backgrounds and the monsters are drawn beautifully, if they were great in the first rendition, they're even greater now. You really feel the power and height this gozilla-like monsters (kaiju) have. I give it a 7 due to how much I despise the character designs.
CHARACTER: Most characters are pretty different compared to the original , there's still not much to say about them. Character development is present, just poor.
ENJOYMENT & Overall Opinion: I didn't enjoy reading this remake. Having read the original Maou Dante, I already knew the plot basically on it's entirety, with the only exception being the ending, which was the #1 reason I finished this manga, to see an ending that wasn´t finished since the 70's. Overall, dissapointing work by Go Nagai.
You might like it more if you get into it without having read the first version of Maou Dante (70's)
