There is a relaxed feel to both anime. Good for a rainy day when the pace will not bore you to death. At times it can seem a bit dark and sad, but at the same time, it's light hearted and doesn't sadden you too much. You'll enjoy one if you like the other, when you're in the right kind of mood to watch it ;)

Samurai Story. In genre these anime are totally different as far as action, comedy, adventure, etc. They are however historical and involve samurai, so if you are search of those, you might like to watch Saraiya, but don't expect to see a lot of fighting in it.

They are both like an animated painting. With beautiful patterns rather than colours and shading, which give an quite an abstract and slightly creepy feel to it.

The plots are totally different but they are both quite realistic stories of teams joining together and fighting to be their best. If you like the realistic style you'll enjoy watching both of these. And even learn a bit of stuff about music and bike riding that you didn't know before.

Both mangas follow the everyday crazy adventures of the small group of the smartest kids in the school. They both have very similar plots.

Historical, abstract, done like a painting, and done with sounds of old japanese theater. Although mononoke is much more abstract, the animation style and sounds of Otogizoushi reminded me instantly of mononoke.

12 Kingdoms takes place in an historical fantasy world full of demons and mythical creatures while Kenshin's world is a lot more realistic in the Meiji era of Japan. But both stories rely heavily on the history of their world. I was reminded of Rurouni Kenshin while watching 12 kingdoms. If you like one, you might like the other.

Although Seirei seems more mature from the start and Erin has more of a pastel different sort of animation, both animes have a similar feel to them. They both take place in an historical fantasy world and heavily focus on the character development of both the child and their parent/guardian. Sometimes when Balsa's motherly side shows through reminded me of Erin's mother. There also seems to be quite a bit of herbology in both.

There are only a select few people who can see the small creatures that are always there but most people can't see. Both animes are somewhat light hearted and have an earthy feel... if that makes sense.

Similar stories. Boy gets super power and fights to be the best. When I saw one I was reminded of the other.
