- Both have the protagonist going to extremes for the sake for their loved one - Character development. Berserk focuses the most on the development of the protagonist. Mugen no Juunin/ Blade of the Immortal sees the development of pretty much all the characters except the very minor characters. - Both have brilliant artwork, although Mugen no Juunin/ Blade of the Immortal has a more simplistic style compared to Berserk - Both have gore. Berserk has more body organs flying around, Mugen no Juunin has more severed appendages

- Both are samurai stories. - Both deal with philosophical ideas. The philosophical questioning is more explicit in Vagabond while in Blade of the Immortal/ Mugen no Juunin, it is more subtle and not directly addressed by the characters. - Brilliant artwork in both.
