Spoilers lol
After hearing about how Fire Force's ending directly links it to Soul Eater, I had to read the manga. I don't think it lives up to Soul Eater, but it was still decent.
The art is amazing, it's just as detailed and beautiful as the latter parts of Soul Eater are. But the story is kind of bland, and the villains are kind of forgettable. The character development is HARD carried by Arthur and Joker, and the only villain who really felt real was Haumea. But most characters were either underutilized like Nataku or just plain irrational like Inca. And Tamaki is a poorly written
...
character that really never served any purpose other than stripping every chapter. Most of the female characters were poorly written. Nah, most of the male characters were poorly written too.
As for the story, I felt it was a bit convoluted at times, and I especially feel that the "crazy religious cult" trope is a little overdone. But it wasn't awful, and the ending was a pretty cool way to show us the birth of the world of Soul Eater.
The fights, though, are amazing. For the most part. Arthur vs. Dragon has probably the funniest setup, one of the best conflicts, and some of the best characters out of any battle manga. It's just flat out amazing, the art, the character development, the story impact, all of it. But right after this there are the Doppelganger fights. We'd already seen the best doppleganger fight (Benimaru vs Hibachi), seeing characters fight their own doppelgangers was boring and didn't have to happen. Arthur vs. Dragon should have been last fight before Shinra vs. Haumea.
Overall, the story was a bit mediocre, but the art, fights, and backstory to the world of Soul Eater definitely make Fire Force worth reading.

Spoilers ahead. Don't read if you haven't finished the manga.
Jojolion proved to be very disappointing in many regards. I had high hopes after reading Steel Ball Run and was excited to see the direction Araki was going with the story in the new SBR universe. While Jojolion undoubtedly had the most complex and thought-out underlying story out of all parts, it suffered from a fatal flaw--it was boring as all hell. The plot about the fruit smuggling and overcoming curses was an interesting concept but I felt it was too dragged out and could have been told in a much better way. Certain arcs
...
just went on and on and didn't accomplish much (eg. Blue Hawaii).
Jojolion lacks many good, well-written characters. The only truly memorable characters in my opinion are Jobin and Rai Mamezuku. The protagonist, Josuke, feels very one-dimensional and static despite the fact that he is a mixture of two people. Josuke’s goals also strike as some of the weakest goals a main JoJo has had, with Jobin's goals of securing a better future for the Higashikata family being much more just and desirable. The minor villains are for the most part lackluster and have terrible arcs aside from Tamaki Damo’s Vitamin C. In particular I found the Aphex Twins to be some of the weakest and least interesting characters in the entire series.
I also thought the stands in this part were particularly boring. Rai Mamezuku is one of my favorite characters from the part but his stand is literally just Stone Free 2. Stand abilities in this part were usually either too vague and confusing or too limited. However I do think that the stand of the main villain, Wonder of U, is one of the greatest and most terrifying stands in the series. It’s too bad Tooru, the user, showed up way too late in the part for him to feel all that menacing. On the other hand, I really dislike Josuke's stand, Soft and Wet. Especially in the final arc with Go Beyond. It's literally just a deus ex machina because there was no possible way to defeat Tooru. In other parts, gaining a final ability to seize victory made sense, with Jotaro's realization of the similarities between Star Platinum and The World, Giorno’s acquisition of Gold Experience Requiem, and Johnny's constantly evolving Tusk combined with mastery of the Spin. Josuke, on the other hand, just ends up having these invisible bubbles. It was extremely dissatisfying and further contributed to the lack of development Josuke got throughout the story.
Now onto my least favorite aspect, the Rock Organisms. The Rock Humans just don’t feel like they were necessary. As the Jojolion “counterpart” of the Pillar Men, they lacked the menacing nature and personality that the Pillar Men had. I feel like if they were just regular humans, they really wouldn’t change much. Continuing from that, the Rock Insects are probably my least favorite things in all of JoJo. They just felt like ass pulls and didn’t really add anything to the situations they were in, and they really only served to prolong the Wonder of U arc. In addition, the significance of Yasuho’s hair pin being a rock insect is never explained or brought up after we see it the first time. The Rock Insects were overall just a really bad addition to Jojolion which already had too many unnecessary things happening.
Overall, Jojolion really failed to meet expectations. Of course, the art was brilliant, I’d never expect less from Araki. But the story’s interesting premise was thrown out the window by the poor character development and terrible stands and action sequences. Jojolion contains some of the best JoJo has to offer, like Wonder of U, and some of the absolute worst, like the Rock Insects. Jojolion had a lot of potential to be the best part of JoJo, but it ultimately fell flat because of its flaws.
As for Part 9, I would love to see character development from Joshu, as I think he was an underutilized character in Jojolion. He never had a real chance at redeeming himself from being a creepy and cringy comic relief character, despite how he really stood out in the Milagro Man arc. I would also like to see a fully new story without all these "new universe counterparts" Araki keeps doing. It was interesting in SBR but I heavily dislike how every character in the original universe has got to have a counterpart in the SBR universe. I am also hoping that Part 9 isn’t just “Jojolion 2,” and we get to see a new setting and new characters while keeping some returning characters from Jojolion.
And how could I forget the greatest Araki Forgot of them all. Araki forgot how to draw dogs.

For a comedy manga this sure doesn't make me laugh. At all. The joke of every chapter is the same, someone who SHOULD be competent does something incompetent and that's supposed to be funny. Every chapter felt exactly the same as the previous because they all have the same punchline. The characters aren't interesting, the jokes aren't funny, the story doesn't add anything to the series. There are dozens of comedy manga that are actually funny with lots of variety that you could read instead. Jahy just falls short in every crucial aspect of comedy manga. It's not completely awful, but your time is much
...
better spent elsewhere.

I want to like this series so bad. After the meh-fest that was the first season I was hoping this season would fix all the issues. Didn't. The story still feels really bland and is too often straight explained to us by the characters. The art, while it has its moments (especially in episode 1), was definitely a downgrade from the first season. Some sections of smooth, gorgeous animation don't make up for 75% janky animation for the rest of the show. I don't really like how they used music, especially near the end of the season. The tracks they used had so much significance
...
in the original series and they feel out of place here. The character development this season was pretty good but I still feel as if there are too many characters. This season's pacing also disappointed me, I feel like this would have been better as a movie rather than 8 episodes.
Overall I surprisingly found myself enjoying this season LESS than the first, which I never thought would happen. At this point I'm in too deep and I just want to see how it ends (if the ending is even going to be understandable). I just hope to God the 4th movie has zero influence from this series.

It's hard to adapt a mobile gacha game into a good anime, especially one based on the legendary Madoka Magica series. Magia Record tried its hardest but I believe it falls victim to the story. The show is goddamn beautiful and has some really good character designs but the story failed to keep me interested. Too many things happen at the same time, with seemingly little relevance and impact on the plot. This show feels more like a regular magical girl show with dark elements, rather than the original series' full dive into the dark aspects. The original show had a clear, concise story in
...
12 episodes that wrapped up every character's arc. Magia Record has too many characters, too many unimportant events, and not enough resolution. Again, due to it being an adaptation of a gacha game. This show is worth watching for the visuals and music, if nothing else. In another world where this was really a story made for an anime, maybe this would have been a lot better. My only hope is that Season 2 resolves the issues that this season had, but I won't get my hopes up.
