First of all, I should say that this song is not really my genre of music. This was recommended to me by a friend. I'll get right to the review.
Story 6/10: This song is from a movie. I haven't seen the movie. I'm not sure if I was supposed to know what was going on, but I assume that it was symbolic of some events of the movie. For a music video though, it has above average story. My interpretation is that the girl is scared of her dark side and trying to flee from it. Then she decides to face it and eventually absorb
...
it into herself and become a whole, self-actualized person. Pretty heady stuff.
Art 8/10: The art is high quality. It's also wildly colorful and chaotic. It matches the song very well. I have no problem with the character design of One Piece, which some people do. I love One Piece. I also don't hate CGI in anime like a lot of people do. If you dislike One Piece character design or CGI, you will probably dislike this video.
Sound 5/10: I don't like this song. That's my opinion. I usually don't like rap and the harmony of this song is often discordant, which I don't dig. The singer has a great voice, though. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.
Character 6/10: She's cute. I don't know who the hell she is, because I haven't watched One Piece past episode 572 and I have only seen 2 of the movies. She actually has a bit of an arc throughout the video, (if I'm interpreting it right) going from running from her inner demons to embracing them.
Enjoyment 5/10: I couldn't enjoy the video much because the song was mediocre IMHO. I was curious about the character and enjoyed the visuals a bit, though.
Overall 7/10: My personal score for this anime is a 5, because I just don't like the song and the video is not very original or interesting. It's pretty standard stuff. Yet, as I have said before, rating a music video is not so much about the music or story as it is about how much the visuals add to the song. Whether I like the music is largely irrelevant, because it's too subjective to matter much what my opinion is and the song is it's own entity, available without the video. Why would anyone watch a music video when they could just listen to the song? If the video part of the audio/video experience adds some value. In this case, it does. I think the video compliments the song very well. If I liked the song, I would probably watch this music video once in a while, because they really combine well to make a whole experience.

Full disclosure: I did not have subtitles and I only understood about 1/20 words, because I have never even attempted to learn Japanese. I've picked up a few words here and there, but not enough to have any idea what the song "Ivy" is about.
Also, I had never heard of Kano or her song "Ivy" before seeing this. Like my last review, I just found this entry near the bottom of the MAL Top Anime list (under 100 members have it on their list) and clicked on it by chance. This time, luck was on my side.
Story 4/10: There is a bit of story to
...
this video. It has a beginning, middle, and end. It is slightly humorous at times and sweet. It is not a unique or particularly interesting story, though. It's also necessarily barebones, because it's only a few minutes long.
Art 4/10: The art is amateurish, but not downright bad. Decent character design. Animation is lacking. However, the visuals are nicely timed to the music, and suit the mood of the song well.
Sound 8/10: Not gonna lie, this song is dope. Reminds me of the band カラスは真っ白 [A crow is white].
Character 5/10: Not much can be gleaned about the boy from the video. The girl is likeable though. I would describe her as "determined, yet moe".
Enjoyment 8/10: I really liked the song and that was a pleasant surprise. I also have a weakness for moe girls, so that helped.
Overall 6/10: When reviewing a music video, I think the question is how much the visuals add to the experience. In this case, the visuals really bring the song to life. They give a character and a story to the song, which, though quite basic, I will probably think of whenever I hear this song again. And I will hear this song again, because it's pretty great. I just doubt I'll watch the video again, because it's not nearly as good as the song.

I only watched this because it looked like no one else had. I had never heard of Omaru Polka, I just found this on the bottom of the MAL Top Anime list, which said 0 members had it on their MAL list. The page for this 'anime' says there are actually 179 members with this on their list, so I guess I didn't need to watch it after all. Still, it wasn't horrible.
Story 1/10: There was no discernable story, but it's a music video. Story isn't vital.
Art 3/10: The art was sort of pleasant, but mostly not animated (just static images moving around the frame)
...
except for some rudimentary CGI stuff. The art moved with the music (as in "to the beat") decently, though, and it suited the mood of the song.
Sound 4/10: The song was OK. A sickly sweet, idol-pop kind of song, which is not my thing. There was an overly long intro of the singer talking that I did not care for.
Character 2/10: A cute girl with a colorful and revealing costume is shown a lot. She seems to be a carefree, fun-loving person. I couldn't really say for sure. That's all the 'character' there is in this. Fans will likely know the character, but this anime tells you virtually nothing about her.
Enjoyment 3/10: It was boring. The visuals would be OK to have as background for the audio IF I liked the song.
Overall 3/10: It's not just that I didn't like the song. It's the overall lack of quality in this video. There is nothing here to enjoy for people who don't like this song. However, even fans of the song "Hologram Circus" are probably better off just listening to the song while doing ANYTHING else than listening to it while watching this video.
TLDR| Fans of the song: go ahead and watch the video. It's like 4 minutes long, so why not? Just don't expect it to be something that really brings the song to life or provides ANY additional entertainment.
If someone who is not a fan of the song "Hologram Circus" by Omaru Polka somehow sees this review, know that I am not proud of having spent an hour writing this review of a 4 minute music video I didn't like. It is simply my duty as a member of MAL to review any anime I see that has no reviews. Please, go watch something else and forget about this anime and this review.

[DUBBED VER. REVIEW, no spoilers]
Hey Nana... do you remember the first time we met? You don't? That's OK, because Junko has recaps!
Welcome to Junko's Place, where there is no fourth wall, so the characters are free to talk about the anime that they are in. This is how I describe the "premise" used to present the Nana Recaps. It's great and I will tell you why, but first let me break down the obvious bits.
Oh, and from now on, when i say Nana, I mean the anime, not a person.
Story 5/10: Watching the Recaps at the wrong times will spoil Nana, so be careful! Watch
...
#1 after episode 11, #2 after episode 21, and #3 after episode 36. The Recaps have no story of their own, but they summarize the incredible story of Nana, at least up to episode 36.
Art 9/10: The art here is the same quality as the show. It's very detailed and has awesome character design and wardrobe. It stands the test of time well (I'm writing this 12 years after the series aired).
Sound 10/10: Viz Media did a top-notch job on the dub. The badass music of BlaSt and Trapnest is here in the Recaps, too.
Character 8/10: You know the characters from the show, so I don't need to tell you about their realism, lovableness, etc. In between recap clips, there are some fun moments with supporting characters. I would have appreciated some of the main characters showing up at Junko's Place, though.
Enjoyment 7/10: We just saw the parts of the show we see in these recaps, so they are not as entertaining as before. The parts between clips, in Junko's Place, are funny and interesting, though.
Overall 8/10: It's so cool to see the characters in the anime talking to the audience and each other about their roles, the other characters, and the recent events as if they have been watching the show, too! Also, I factor into the total score how helpful these Recaps are. Nana is often subtle and there is always a lot going on, so recaps can be helpful to remind you of little things.
TL;DR: These are easily the best "summary" episodes I have ever seen. They have good original content and do a decent job of recapping.
Please be sure to rate this anime after you finish it and thanks for reading my first review!
