Texhnolyze and Casshern Sins are two of "those series" that just aren't everyone's cup of tea. But if you're into dark, more mature-themed shows, then these are two great anime with dystopian settings. Texhnolyze mainly features partial-android humans and gives philosophical viewpoints on humanity; while Casshern Sins explores the sentience and self-actualization of robots. Both shows display themes concerning humanity, hope, despair, death, immortality, mere existence, and nihilism. However, there is a contrast in that Texhnolyze is at times void of any emotion, but Casshern Sins is filled with several vivid emotions.

These two series are full of on-the-edge-of-your-seat psychological suspense. I honestly wish that Zankyou no Terror was just as long as Monster. Sphinx (Nine and Twelve) from Zankyou no Terror is very similar to Johan in Monster. Both characters have unknown origins and histories shrouded in mystery that are later revealed. Both were part of a human experiment as children that broke them mentally. For the most part, it is unknown what motivates these characters; they seem to carry out their crimes just to watch the world burn. The crimes themselves are rather mysterious too; Sphinx's terrorist attacks intentionally avoid killing people; Most of the murders in Monster were carried out by accomplices that Johan was able to control mentally. They are also both being hunted down by outcasted characters (Shibazaki and Dr. Tenma).

Murder is the game. Survival is the goal. But wait, there can only be one winner?! In both shows, a large handful of characters are forced into playing a sick and twisted game of "last man standing wins." Both character sets are very diverse and unique, making for two great casts. Of course the main character is a more noble young lad who doesn't want to have to kill anyone, yet is desperate to stay alive. Is there anyone he can trust?! The biggest mystery is who is actually controlling the game?

You saw Lelouch's attempt at rescuing Japan from the clutches of Britannia. Now we're on a mission to rescue Japan from financial collapse! Just like in Code Geass, the two main characters in "C" start out as friends, however they soon become enemies. Both of the main characters are trying to save Japan, but their different methods conflict with each other.
