Sushi police is a gag show parodying a comment once made by a Japanese politician that there should be a government agency that evaluates sushi places overseas as authentic or not. More broadly the show also makes fun of Japanese nationalism.

Man, I really wanted it to be good but it's just a weaker Legend of the Galactic Heroes with more modern pacing; the 26 episodes don't even finish the manga story and they didn't get a second season. The animation and sountrack aren't anything special, the 3D is just dated enough to look out of place; there's a few genuinely compelling characters who's arcs save this, and the message of anti-imperialism really resonated with me, we don't have enough anime that try to be materialist in their portrayal of politics.
