Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou

Made in Abyss and Shoujo are two shows I overlooked because of their animation styles. While it seems childish both of these shows carry mature themes involving survival. While Made in Abyss takes on more of a fantasy theme; Shoujo has a post apocalyptic setting but both shows create the same tense atmosphere.

Love the never ending humor of Aho Girl? Then this show is right up your ally, with constant profane jokes the comedy never ends. Both shows are so stupid to the point that they are great.

Konya wa Tsuki ga Kirei desu ga, Toriaezu Shine

Love and murder are the two main themes in both of these manga. Konya wa Tsuki takes a more "supernatural" route compared to Ana Satsujin. However they both have amazing art, lots of blood and gore with a romance element to top it off.

Grisaia no Meikyuu: Caprice no Mayu 0

Both shows detail the life and transition of a mercenary to a high school student. While Full Metal Panic! has more of a comedic undertone, both shows have a decent amount of action, violence and blood. Grisaia takes more of a harem/romance path, both shows are quite similar in regards to the MC. If you liked Full Metal Panic! Grisaia will not disappoint you; it takes much more of the mature and darker route that Full Metal Panic! did not quite touch on.

Enjoy the great constant comedy of Aho Girl? Then Sabage-bu is just for you. Both shows have a repeat of their comedy but it never gets old. The same way Yoshiko is always getting beat up is just like Urara. Both Aho Girl and Sabage-bu will provide you with non stop comedy and enjoyment.

While these shows are completely unrelated by genre and story the artwork is similar. There is a huge focus on conversations and characters body language. Both shows focus heavily on conversations to progress the story rather than action or jumping to the next scene. Also both shows use body language as an important role in the conversations, what is not said is just as important as what is said.

The animation is similar, if you enjoy this style then Knights of Sidonia will be the show for you. With humanity on the brink of extension, fighting a monster that is stronger there will be death and the one warrior who soars above saving humanity. Knights of Sidonia will offer a more complete and wholesome enjoyment that Blame couldn't give you.

While it may seem like an unlikely recommendation, but both shows start off like it is going to be a good action/adventure but go dark really fast. I was blown away and surprised by both shows after the first episode. Something I was thinking is going to be funny and more of a comedy, but it took a wrong turn and went Madoka Magica on me. Both shows have really nothing in common besides that, characters aren't even close to being the same, story is completely different. But both shows have amazing characters all the way through. Both shows are full of action. Full of adventure and surprises. Watch them both and you'll see what I mean.
