Both shows depict 'the end of the world' if something is not done and a tool can be used to create the 'perfect' world. Noein focuses more on dragon knights trying to protect their timeline called La'cryma from Shangri-la's invasion. The knights require an 'object' called 'Dragon Torque'. As they accidentally stumble into the present, they realise that this timeline is very similar to theirs. One of the knights chose to protect her while others insists that the dragon torque is just an illusion to them. As time goes by, they let the Dragon Torque choose for herself, to create a world that is perfect for them. Asura Cryin' (S1&S2) talks about the world having a dark secret where giant mechas exists. These machas hold the power to allow the winner to play god. As the main character learns about the dark secrets behind it, he tries to eliminate the mecha owners who shows to have world domination intentions. In the process, he enters a timeline completely different from his and tries to get back. He learns about many people's secret and manages to return back into his timeline by meeting with his brother and the creator of the machines , to create a mecha that can par with the strongest mecha. Noein focuses more on fighting against yourself (as the name suggests) to achieve certain things while Asura Cryin focuses more on a specific tool that can create paradise.
