i never thought i would say this, but this slice of life manga portrays reality more than fiction.

it’s the lofi of manga, the ones u read when u kinda feel kinda lost in life, melancholic mayhaps. it deconstructs time, grounding u in reality and forcing u to experience the world around you purely based on your senses. (and in this case, sound)

takako doesn’t speak much, but she has exceptional hearing, allowing her to have a deeper understanding of the world around her.
takako is a more optimistic character but not overly so, watch on as a she attempts to ... embrace the rather cold and fast-paced modern world around her, spreading her warmth not only to the characters around her, but to us readers too. (made me want to cheer her on at least)

takako-san is created partially from the author herself, thus the portrayal of her life and those around her in this piece of work is more “normal” than most manga of other genres.

the art (takako’s eyes specifically) reminds me of yotsubato while the story is more akin to hirayasumi (both great works you should check out)

being a hidden gem of the josei genre, it sure has been a nice change of pace for me in our frantic and often fleeting lives today.

oh boy get ready for a huge dose of "im so lonely" and perhaps jealousy while reading this

so here's a review after reading all the chapters in one sitting

bokukano is a what u read when you want a good mix of everything, not too tropey, and closer to reality then most of its genre
it gave me tonikaku kawaii vibes along with a lot more absurdist and mostly funny moments (like plastic neesan) and of course a bit of tsun and a sprinkle of affectionate domestic violence. (lewd stuff actually happens)

it leans more towards com than rom and did get quite a few chuckles out ... from me
dominant female lead most of the time (if you are into that kind of stuff), some of the smoothest lines ive seen used by a girl
wholesome stuff, some insight into cohabitation (since this is one of those rare romcoms where it is based on actual author experience) *totally not referring to rent a girlfriend*

overall a really solid piece of work, no indecisive bullshit, just straight to the good stuff ("perfectly balanced, as all things should be")
really glad i gave it a read, and you should too.

its my first review but aight

first of all, its a short read, theres only 4.5 chapters for now. the story is pretty solid, it follows the main character yuki as she progresses through the story as a rental girlfriend. honestly i think this is better than kanojo, okarishimasu as instead of your harem bs, annoying loser mc stuff, you get interesting plot and and overall makes more sense to me and the art is also very good. the main thing is that it reflects the internal struggles of the mc, actual people with actual problems, as she navigates her way on how love is potrayed ... in the real world. a good read, only half an hour, depicts heavier themes, thought provoking. noice.
