Many good ideas with what I consider poor execution.
This show has good ideas.
I really like the female tech freak trope. (I even like the artstyle and long for more fanservice *ducks head)
But mainly this show has got:
Questions about god, what defines god, under what circumstances can we reject god.
Questions about metaphysics. How are our mind and body connected and can either go on without the other? How are all people connected and how can technology expand on that connection.
About Evolution. What if evolutions stops and can we do something to get it going again (a not so uncommon trope in animes which has been shitty
...
every time I've seen it come up.)
Questions about family, about sacrifice, about friends, about night-clubs, about drugs, about commitment.
Ontop of that it starts with a really neat mail-leading-to-suicides-plot which just gets discarded after the first third.
And the ideas are all great ideas to get people talking.
The way to do this is to educate the watchers about each question and properly display the problem. The way not to do it is to clutter the questions with confusion and add irrelevant questions (like are you really my parrents? Maybe? Probably not, but let's ask that question 20 more times) and then give random answers to questions that some viewers will not have realized were asked at that point.
I don't think you can't have one possible answer to a question and still continue discussing that question, but if the answer seems unnecessary at that time, then that lowers the experience in my opinion, though that is not the problem.
The problem is that the questions don't get enough exposition. No difference if they get discarded or answered, but if you're dealing with intresting questions, then you should give some detail and not make it all wishy washy and let the weeb-nerds have fun interpreting the shit out of random stuff and feel really elitist about it.
It was my fault for watching this anime with less savy kids, but honestly if I had watched this with my drunk weeb-circle, then we would've interpreted a few thinigs nicely, would've extracted a few questions and then we would've been too bored and annoyed to follow their discussion.
In my opinion this is an anime made for lengthy forum-discussions (and even here it isn't stellar, but mainly for the reason that it fails on the other two fronts) and as I don't think this is what an Anime should be like I rate this anime as poorly as I do.
