Okay, I just came home from watching this absolute masterpiece and my mind is literally going overdrive right now because wow AM I excited. I really am hoping this review is coherent for ya'll to understand lmao but anyways, this review will contain SPOILERS so heads up.
The animation (especially the sequencing of the animation OH MY GOD!), the SOUNDTRACK wow. Just Wow. the film in my opinion was kinda a mash up of Spiderverse and DMCB but obviously Trigger ver. It's been a long while since the soundtrack from a film has made me so emotional too so thank /you/ Hiroyuki Sawano for
...
the crazy experience.
From the moment Inferno played (the very beginning) my body was just buzzing with the anticipation and lmao I already felt emotional at this point. To me Inferno just had that sense of hopefulness when you listen to it. I had Inferno on repeat days before watching this film and it's just such a different experience in the cinema (obviously). and Oh man and when the orchestra version of Inferno PLAYED! Damn. truly heightened the fight scenes.
How the music was reused throughout was well done, in comparison to Weathering with You, imo Promare had better impact.
Was so impressed with Galo's and Lio's voice actors too as it was their first roles also!
Nearing the end of the film was when I started to just cry, I was just so full of emotions with how moved I was with the overall direction of the animation + soundtrack, the characters (Love ya Galo), man and just the fact that the movie was coming to the end.. This is why I love anime so much, it's the emotions that /I/ experience. Truly the perfect escapism.. I didn't want to leave the lil world I was in when I was watching this. I live for these emotions, these experiences.
I can understand how some people may have rated this movie low: fast-paced thus very little character development (Didn't really mind the lack of it honestly), and it was kinda predictable. It was mainly eye candy I admit and some scenes honestly did make me a bit sleepy. BUT Despite that though I'm so impressed with Promare, and I was never much of a fan of gundam or Trigger works either.
Also, I saw some people comment on the lack of the development of their 'world' they are in, but truthfully that wasn't really necessary. The fight scenes were much more significant and more effort was put into those scenes anyways to really concentrate on the background. However, the lack of it did make you want to see more!
I really hope ya'll have the chance to watch this in cinema! I was so envious of the group of friends in front of me excitedly talking about Promare after it ended. The worst feeling is having no one to share your excitement with, haha.
Thanks for reading this absolute mess! SPOILERS BELOW.
Spoilers! Start
-----------------
Fave Scenes:
1.) Mad Burnish ENTRANCE, and when Lio sat down and placed his robot head on his robot palm LMAO GOD, TOO GOOD. over the top but omfg I live for this.
2.) Loved when Galo and Lio first met. Damn The shots where the animation would go around the characters and slow down, varying from low to high angles then back to high and the animation would pick up the pace again. Trigger just wow.
3.) How the Burning Rescue team was introduced. Hell yeah.
4.) Last fight scenes especially when Inferno Orchestra ver. was playing!
5.) when Galo complained about his armour not being cool enough ahahahahh naw, whatta big cutie!!
