I feel like" is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon" is a misnomer that does a disservice to the anime after watching it. I was turned off from the anime based on the title and didn't give it a shot until I was browsing through anime descriptions and read it without reading the title. In comparison to Sword Art Online, I will say that this anime is Sword Art Online done right.
Now, the anime in of itself does have the typical fanservice of a harem series. However, that doesn't make this anime deserve a 2 ranking. If you watch the
...
series, you will see that the anime by and large shows strong and independent women. The characters who objectify women in the show generally turn out to be weaker male adventurers and are dully punished. The majority of characters in the show tend to respect and treat female companions well. If anything, I feel the anime does a reasonable job of using harem anime aspects primarily for the comedic effects.
As for the main character being special, unlike Sword Art Online, he's not overpowered and relies heavily on his party to survive. He is saved time and time again by other characters and unlike SOA, the supposed strong female characters remains strong instead of falling head over heels and abandoning their character. In many ways he is like the villager character in Fire Emblem games that starts weak but levels up stats faster.
If you don't like anime set in fantasy/video game worlds, then this show is not for you.

Nostalgia does not make the heart fonder it seems.
I am a big fan of the original Digimon series but this movie is honestly horrible.
Story:
While there are hints to something larger occasionally in the plot, every scene is needlessly dragged on. The slice of life parts that open the show only sustain itself on nostalgia and is infinitely worse than good slice of life animes out there. The latter half of the show involves the main characters staring dumbly at danger as monsters attack being nothing more than passive bystanders.
Art:
I felt as if I was watching an overly (bad) artistic movie made by some independent
...
artist for the sake of making a point. Color palettes are dull and uninspiring, unlike the first episode of Digimon. The movie does attempt to show rather than tell (far too much emphasis on show) so the art is arguably the best part of this. At least the artists tried to make some sort of point with the designs of the digi world.
Sound:
Music and booms seems to be all there is. Even if the music is from the original series, it's heavily overused in scenes with little variations. Ace Attorney games have wonderful music that is kept fresh each game through remixes, variations, and character themes. Music is also adjusted based on the mood and feel of the scene. Digimon Adventure: Reunion does not.The abuse of sound in the movie is worse than my middle school attempts at adding to RPG Maker projects.
Character:
Was there supposed to be character in this movie? I couldn't notice, seeing as there were way too many scenes where nothing happens besides characters nodding and grunting at one another. Or dialog scenes that lead to nowhere, are said without any useful context, provide little to the actual plot. Or characters staring at each other stupidly while the monsters fight completely breaking up the flow of the fight scenes. The sudden giant section of exposition in the middle was awkwardly placed and didn't fit with the rest of the slow anime.
Overall:
A botched slice of life intro, passable combat scenes, and lazy usage of sounds.
How this movie might have been salvagable:
Duration: Cut by at least 50%
Slice of Life Intro: Add in humor of Wagnaria or Charm of Non Non Biyori
Art: I get that it's supposed to be very "real life" like with the gritty and clean art design but there are countless shows that get it right without feeling so...lifeless.
Sound: See sound review
Character: Getting rid of the nonchalant look on characters faces when something is trying to kill them would be good. Cause humans don't have a blank look on their face when that happens. Or I don't know...getting rid of unnecessary slowness in fight scenes, the random cut ins of the digi-destined dumbly staring at one another during the fight scenes. Really, any sort of emotion would be good.

Baccano! is a very special type of show that doesn't fit the typical anime mold. If you enjoy HBO shows such as Boardwalk Empire, or anime such as Death Parade or ERASED, then this is the show for you. If you don't, however, then I would avoid this show.
Story:
The show expertly interleaves four parallel yet interconnected stories in a way that isn't confusing (note the OVA episodes are worse in quality). The plot is intricate and quite deep. Every time I rewatch this show I notice some things new. The anime adaptation and English voiceover is arguably one of the best representation of the West
...
during the prohibition and gangster era I've seen, rivaling (superior in some ways) that of real life shows.
Art:
On the positive side I will say that the art design is wonderful many characters are unique in his or her own way. The intro to the show is absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately as an older anime, the resolution of the show is lacking. If you were to compare this to modern anime the art may get a 6 or 7 but within the era this show aired I would say the art is quite good. Definitely great portrayals of the melting pot demographics of the United States.
Sound:
The into is great...have I said that enough? The series does a good job of bringing the era to life. Perhaps a bit repetitive in some aspects though.
Character:
The characters of this show is arguably the strongest part of this anime. Almost every character on the show gets time to develop and changes by the end of the series. Even the senseless violent characters are developed with love and detail as the show goes into their psyche, helping the audience understand their motives.
Overall:
Baccano! is a show that I would recommend to my friends who don't like anime. The show is deceptively deep despite the seemingly senseless violence on the surface, the action, and gags.

Overall:
From the simple comedy that was season 1 to the plot focused season 3, Working!! has oddly a good metaphor of growing up. Reminds me of those carefree days no so long ago. Yet it remains it's lighthearted charm.
The show has come a long way from when it started, and not in a bad way. There is considerably more plot in season 3, a slice of life anime where things actually happen. Unlike season 2 which teased you with development and didn't go anywhere, this season has real development. The amount of laughs and gags for the sake of it has gone down, but this
...
is a good thing as repeating the same old gags would have gotten old.
If you enjoyed the series or the genre, this season is probably the high point with every episode being memorable and enjoyable. However, season 3 is definitely not something one can jump into (like season 2 was) without watching the previous seasons. Enjoyment of the anime would be much lower, so if your new to the series, go watch season 1!
As for the ending, this series is one of the few anime to pull off a satisfying and sweet ending (you have to watch the Movie/Episode 14)

Coming from Time of Eve, I looked forward to this movie considerably.
I think that perhaps my higher expectations for the show ruined my enjoyment of it ultimately. Don't get me wrong, the movie was very good. The art, atmosphere, and everything is on par with the classics.
What left me hanging was in the character development field, where things were just too predictable. I was hoping for a less simplistic character development than what the online preview presented. However, the overall direction followed what was expected, with very few surprises. The developing bond between the two main characters also seemed to occur less natural than in
...
a Miyazaki movie. Perhaps some slight tweaking of pacing would have made this better.
Aside from this one weak point, the rest of the movie was quite enjoyable. The scenes, the way the world was set up, was all very thought provoking. The twist at the end of the movie was foreshadowed a bit too early for me, so it wasn't as surprising.
For now, I would rate it an 8 overall, but I have a feeling it will be a 9 in the future if I were to come back to the movie in a year or so, with tempered expectations.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't have too much trouble understanding the plot of the anime. While it is somewhat complicated, most things make sense until the end of the show. However, I do agree that there were some things which could have been improved. At first glance, the show has mystery, horror, some funny moments, even a bit of romance. Seems to be great right? Unfortunately, the short number of episodes really seems to have hindered this anime. While the show does "conclude" the main plot, it seems to do so in a rush. For most of the 13 episodes, the show is a paranormal
...
mystery. The first few episodes of the show were done quite well, in my opinion. The middle episodes seemed to expand on the premise started. And while some episodes may be seen as a digression from the main storyline, they aren't unenjoyable in of them self, and most do have a hint of mystery every now and then, even in scenes where nothing seemingly out of the ordinary occur. However, as the episodes neared the end, I began to worry about the ending as there weren't many episodes left. I was left disappointed as the show suddenly used plot devices consistent with 'magical girl' anime to wrap up the ending. If I wanted to watch a show with magical girls, I would have. It felt like the writers ran out of time to come up with a convincing ending, and chose to do so for plot convenience sake.
Overall, I think this show would have been better if it were given an extra 4-5 episodes for character development and a less rushed ending.
