Dog Signal isn't standing out to me for it's animation, novel story, or other shiny merits. however as still-novice dog owners we can't stop watching this cheesy and compelling series.

Dog Signal is not so much a guidebook as it is a thoughtful training buddy exploring what new dog owners will generally confront and can learn from. as an anime it ranks 5-6 for me. The dialogue and characters are trope-y, caricature-y, and very anime-y. but when they ... pull the right threads by realistically depicting experiences that many dog owners face, the series actually weaves through some really touching moments. while most episodes are standalone, the occasional two-episode stories are so strongly written that if not for these, Dog Signal might not be worth wading through. and i must say as a russell terrier (mix) owner, that eps 16 was waay too real heh

even then we watch it as a cozy filler show between better seasonal releases. i can't quite rank it higher for the general MAL user, but it is nevertheless a special and quite instructive show despite some flaws.
