I loved the simplicity of this complex story. The settings and characters were simple, and the laid-back nature of those made the time-traveling and sci-fi elements easier to digest. I love it when a story doesn't have to have some epic action or characters to get a meaningful message across.

I liked every character, and I felt that I understood each one of them without having anything be predictable. As someone who never really cries at media. . . I teared up at a few points. The small love triangle was really interesting. I appreciated that it wasn't at the forefront of the story, but ... gave some interesting context to the actions of the characters.

I would recommend reading the sequels "Orange: Future" and "Orange: To You, Dear One" as they give a lot more depth to the other characters. They aren't at all required reading, but they will provide a lot of detail that you wouldn't get otherwise.

The characters are so annoying and plain abusive, I tried watching it without judging, but after the end of episode 5, I could not stand listening to Kyoya talk. Like actually barf. He's cute, I guess, but the abusiveness isn't 😊 (This is coming from someone who usually loves trashy shoujo anime. Take that as you will.) The initial plot is somewhat relatable, but the execution was unnecessary. Erika should not have to be doing all that for a pretty boy (like bffr. calling yourself a dog? really? really??) I think if you really don't mind really cringy dialogue and an odd storyline, you'll be ... fine, but Kyoya's unrelenting antagonization of Erika really just killed the show for me, especially the fact that he showed no level of humane respect.
