I freakin love this movie, the colors, the story, the everything it's just such a feel good movie.
It's like if a shinkai film and a studio ghibli film had a more colorful baby, that is the vibes this movie gives off and it is amazinggg vibes.
I've watched this movie a few times now just cause I love it so much, and it makes me happy, and it's a nice movie you could watch with a friend on a sunny day after getting a bite to eat. That is the kinda day I would watch this movie on.
If you watch it, I hope you enjoy, if ... you have already watched it I hope you love it as much as I do, because I love it. No complaints about this anime :)

Honestly, it was fine. Just a movie to put that arc somewhere, I get it.
Nothing special really, there are some anime movies continued from a series that I love, this was eh, okay.
The girl that we get introduced to with the glasses though is very pretty, just felt like I had to add that in since this series is known for it's lovely ladies, although as we know it obnoxiously sexualizes them.
Anyways okay movie, it's kinda just something to watch if you want to I guess.
From my experience you can understand MHA just fine without watching this movie I believe.
So yeah, it's just whatever.

Where do I even begin, this is such a good anime holy moly.
With the awesome opening to the anime itself, the pacing is awesome right from episode 1 it just goes insane and then it's just, god it's a good anime and the anticipation you will feel watching it is unreal.
It is well well written I will say, especially with the roof scene, and the ending was so satisfying.
There are so many times in this series you think he's losing he's losing, and it just builds up all that anticipation, and the interactions with the suspect, leading up to the reveal that he is the ... kidnapper, is just, so well written in my opinion. It was all just perfectly panned out, wonderful pacing, just the right amount of suspense and anticipation, and a wonderful satisfying ending. And lets not forget that awesome opening(Asian Kung Fu Generation never disappoints). Like this is everything you need for a perfect, short and sweet anime.
10/10 would recommend.

I'll just be speaking for the whole series with this review, not just the first season.
Honestly, I just love this series so much, I love the art, the fashion, the story, and the classic, classic nostalgia. It is just amazing, and I know regarding technicality there is probably many faults to it, but for a show with the age demographic of like 7-12, it does not do a bad job at all, and it's just perfect, but it's definitely something that's hard to enjoy if you don't care for nostalgia, then you would get bored at an older age...
Anyways it's a classic, it's hard to ... judge classics on technicalities, 10/10 moving on...

Honestly this anime did nothing wrong, such a masterpiece.
A lot of people complain about the ending but I really think that was the only realistic(unfortunately) way the author could've ended it, although it is sad that's also what makes it good.
What I like about this show is that it really shows how horrible it ACTUALLY is to be involved in the mafia and gangs, not having a place to live, these kind of things. Other animes I have seen about gangs and the mafia tend to glorify it, when it really is one of the most messed up things America has to ... offer.
And considering it was made in Japan, it shows the truth of many Americans, America is glorified. Yes there are many many advantages to living in America, but no one really takes a moment to look at the negative(except maybe the newer generation). Many people can probably relate to Ash, he is a character of many problems, doesn't have his mom with him, hardly sees his dad(not to mention he dies), he's been raped his whole life, used to seduce others, and for ones own sexual pleasure, he's been an object of sex for as long as he can probably remember, he had learned to seduce others to get out of things, really upsetting really, he lives a tough, tough life where he loses those he loves here and there.
It is just so depressing when Eiji has to go, because he was Ash's peace, his love and someone, someone so different from him, someone who could probably never ever relate to him.
Is the one who helped him the most.
Rest in peach Ash Lynx, he was a beautiful, although fictional, soul, though his death hurts as if it's a real one.
This anime was amazing and I would not change a thing about it.

So I complained a lot about the first season, but this one wasn't bad at all regarding it's accuracy to the manga.
This arc was a good arc, the only thing that was a bit annoying was the very dramatic use of the power of friendship trope near the end.
Yeah this series isn't my favorite, I like the characters a lot, but the storyline isn't the most amazing thing in the world, it's just that season 1 made me so mad because of that ridiculous ending.
But anyways I have no complaints with season 2 regarding that, so yeah thats all I gotta say.

If you read the manga of this series than boy was this a rollercoaster of emotions.

Like even if you haven't read the manga you can tell just from the insanity of it, and pacing that it doesn't make sense. Like that ending was actually not good.
I'm not saying Blue Exorcist is the best manga series in the world, I'm just saying this anime adaption really messed up what could've been something better.
I know the ... manga hadn't continued past that point(at the time) before it all went wrong, but that is such a ridiculous and rushed ending, I feel like they should've just done a simpler ending and moved on with their lives.
It's just such a mess, and I feel like this anime could have done better if not for how it turned out.
One thing about this series though, is that the characters are represented well in the anime. Each character has it's unique personality yada yada and their place in the show, is represented well in my opinion, so I don't feel that the characters personalities in the anime are distant or altered to the personalities in the manga, which is how I do feel with some series, so at least blue exorcist got that part right.
Anyways, just read the manga, watch the openings for this anime on youtube because they are amazing, but do not waste your time watching it, not worth it my friend, nott worth it.

Honestly what can you expect from an anime that goes off track from the manga, we've seen it happen a million times before, once an anime decides to go off track of the manga, it just gets horrible from there.
It just felt like season 2 was a whole different anime then season 1, and it was horribly, horriblyy paced, it was all over the place, and at some point you just wonder like what point is even being made since so many things are happening like-it's just not a good season.
Season 1 was beautiful, the lead up to finding everything out, how it happened, the ... suspense, and they portrayed it so well, show casting to us these smart pre-teens who are looking for freedom, but they are still children after all, and it does not set that fact aside, and makes it a big part of the storyline. It's just that season 1 was amazing and season 2 really didn't do it. One of the biggest fails the anime community had to see in 2021, a major disappointment, I really think they should've kept season 2 more psychological, so it fits with season 1, but I really did not sense as much psychological elements with season 2 at all, and if there was anything it seemed forced and not as natural as season 1, which was aughh such a masterpiece.
I really don't know how much the going off the manga thing impacted the storyline(I haven't read the manga), but I'm gonna assume it really impacted it a lot, and if they were going to go off the manga I think what would've helped to make it fit better with season one is to do a time skip for season 2(maybe not a huge one but just something) and then where as the story progresses it will reveal how they got to that point blah blah blah and then norman comes in out of nowhere, when it's way later and then more stuff is revealed and it's like whattt, I think that would make it have more of a psychological vibe that i personally think would help fit with season 1 better, but I think that would be changing the storyline way too much, but hey it's not like that's never happened in anime before!
Anyways even though just watching season 1 without a second season leaves you on a huge cliffhanger, I think it's best for people new to this series to just do that and assume what the outcome would be, because your imagination is probably better than anything season 2 has to offer. Sorry, not sorry.
