Season 2 of Slime is so incredibly disappointing. Season 1, particularly the first half or so, was so good, but it is now hardly better than any other isekai. The first part of season 2 (particularly the first 6ish episodes) is made up of horny monster girls fighting over Rimuru and way too much recapping. I’m no prude, I don’t mind sexual jokes, and every once in awhile, something HAS been funny. The vast majority of the horny stuff, though, is just the same couple things over and over and over. And it’s not like the tropes were original to begin with.

Since more action has ... started in the latter half of the season, I have found some enjoyment, but there are plenty of distracting flaws. Many characters have no personality at all (or their personality is no more than a bare-bones trope), and yet the show clearly wants you to care about them. I don’t know how to explain too much more without spoiling, but what I will say is they undid a decision they should have kept more or less as it was. Undoing it was just what any generic isekai would do.

The quality of season 2 is still likely somewhat better than most other isekai (though not by much), but the anger comes from how strongly it started and how far it has fallen.
Side note: MONSTERS DO NOT NEED TO LOOK HUMAN AFTER GAINING A NAME. Please, I’m begging, they were so much cooler before
