Well... After reading the manga I was really looking forward to this. I was a bit disappointed though for a few reasons. This was more of a trailer. It started by speeding through the intro to the manga not even giving a chance to anyone who hasn't seen the manga to understand the plot. Then, all of a sudden it jumps to what happens a few chapters later giving no context.
It feels really rushed. Almost no time is given to get to know the characters, (that goes double for Yuno who I was looking foward to seeing). All of a sudden things are happening and

Out of all the anime I have ever watched that has made me cry, I have never cried as much as I did watching this. Grave of the fireflies follows the story of a young boy who cares for his younger sister, playing with her, and trying his best to keep her smiling through the most unbelievably harsh of times. Despite all the tragedy, the hunger, and sickness the two face, Setsuko, the younger sister continues to maintain a light innocence that one would expect from another her age not having to face such horror.
This is anime at its best! The story is incredibly well ... |
