Shinji Kimura - Attack of Higashimachi Ni Chome/Attack of Higashimachi 2nd Burough.
Funny CGI / Paper cutout animation about an alien invasion. Score: 7
Shōjirō Nishimi - Uchujin Raikou Hiroshi no Baai/Invasion from Space - Hiroshi's Case.
Funny short about a guy unaware of the alien in his studio. The static camera allows for some good character animation, with an art style reminiscent of Masaaki Yuasa. Score: 7
Akemi Hayashi - Namida no Mukou/From the Other Side of the Tears.
Seems to try and tell a story about heartbreak, but it's lost in the confusing storyboarding. The song is nice, though. Score: 5
Osamu Kobayashi - Sancha Blues/The
...
Aromatic Tea Blues.
It does a good job at conveying the hardships of running a record store. The art style is pretty cool, too. Score: 7
Yasufumi Soejima - Hyotoko/Blaze Man.
Feels like the intro to one of those CGI cartoons from the early 00s(like Max Steele). Some nice animation and music. Score: 5
Atsushi Takeuchi - Amusement Park Kiss / Wandaba Kiss.
Short and sweet with some creative animation. Score: 7
Mamoru Oshii - Project Mermaid.
Very unique presentation, but ultimately fails in conveying its themes. In the end it just comes across as pretentious. Score: 3.5
Kazuto Nakazawa - "yurururu" ~Nichijou Hen~.
The daily life of an animator shown from a first-person perspective. Pretty funny. Score: 6.5
Ranji Murata and Tatsuya Yabuta - Gyrosopter.
Visually ambitious with some pretty good CGI for its time, but doesn't deliver much in terms of narrative or themes(compared to other shorts in this anthology). Score: 4
Tobira Oda and Yasuyuki Shimizu - Supaatsutaisa.
Weird but funny short with an oldschool animation style(think black and white Fleischer shorts). Score: 6.5
Michael Arias - Okkakekko.
The juxtaposition of the happy children with an intimidating robot is interesting, but the timeframe doesn't allow it to do much else. In the end, it's just weird. Score: 4
Makoto Shinkai - Neko no Shuukai/A Gathering of Cats.
Quick and funny short about the frustration of cats. Score: 7
Shōji Kawamori - Project Omega.
Parody of disaster movies with a giant robot thrown in. Stupid, but fun. Score: 7
Mahiro Maeda - Onmitsu Hime.
Funny parody of older anime, accompanied with some breakneck speed action. Score: 7
Satoshi Kon - Ohayō/Good Morning.
Efficiently conveys the lag between mind and body upon waking up in the morning and still feels like he could've done it in an even shorter time if possible. Best one of the bunch. Score: 8
Overall score: 6.1
