The great animation is wasted by the trash art! (OK, that is a bit exaggerated, but really, I hope they did better. The animation on the other hand, is pretty good)
Conclusion: If you are very picky about art, reading the novel will be a better alternative. But in other perspectives the anime itself is still decent and has some great animations.
* Thanks to people's reply I see the show with a new light and have adjusted my review accordingly (This is an updated review after finished watching the show) (Overall: 5->7)
Konosuba is a pretty good show, but it was more due to the story and
...
voice actors distracting from actually looking deep into the art of the show. The art does good better as the show progressed and eventually reach fair quality near the end. It also help that there are great animators adding wonderful effects to the presentation of the show (all the magic effects are quite beautiful).
But to be fair, here are the Cons:
1. The art is HORRIBLE at a few of the early episodes, the characters have colors that are so poorly put on it felt like it was animated years back with 16 colors available.
2. The characters are also extremely different than how the Light Novel portrays, in terms of art, the color are different, characteristics barely drawn, and focuses on wrong aspect of the characters.
3. It is a fun comedic story, but have been ruined by the animation company. In multiple events it gave me the feeling that the company had no intention of making this a success (though it did convince me to go read the novel). It felt really inconsistent between the great animation and the poor art (though it did get better in the later half), why would anyone waste the efforts of the animators with such low quality art.
Others: After watching the video posted by another user (this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC2HqRS1qjo) I have changed my opinion quite a bit. Agreeing with the video I do think Konosuba did well in animating the motions and effects, but I still hoped they did better with still scenes and characters.
Thanks for reading

Temporary Edit:
Just finished watching episode 9 and the turn of events as well as the pace of the story suddenly took a huge dip downwards. What I mean by downwards is in terms of viewer age, so originally I felt this show was meant for age 14+, now it felt more like 10+. I will suggest to new viewers to wait and see if future reviews will change their scores before starting this show. But with that said, the show is still decent with unique art style and is fun to watch.
Currently due to the latest episode (ep.9) I adjusted my review from Story:8 ->
...
7 and Overall 8->7.
As there are three more episodes I'll hope for the best, good things can still happen.
--------------
To paraphrase other reviews I read about this show:
1. Urahara is an anime show that is like a fairy tale for adults. (ignore this for now)
2. Urahara is a show for people who knows the virtue of patience.
The show itself is quite enjoyable with good art and music, though it might take some time to get used to because of the clear difference to the average anime we have all been watching. But none the less, it is a good show.
Though I can't say for certain the art and sound is on a whole different level, but the story itself is a master piece (hopefully not proven wrong by later episodes).
Let me try to summarize as much of the story as possible without spoiling the show:
1. Urahara starts episode one with most of the settings being already described to the watchers. While many dismisses the show and gives it a bad rating due to the typical Mahou Shojou genre activities, this show actually goes in depth to what can actually happen in these types of encounters. (I thought people would learn after Madoka and Ikusei Keikaku)
2. Continuing on the previous point, unlike some of the Shounen battle type of stories where people complain about themselves overthinking about the plots. In Urahara, the plots actually got a lot deeper than what most people have thought about while watching.
3. This is not a slice-of-life or Shoujo type of story, so people looking forward to a heart warming story, I warn you to stop.
I will end this review by stating that I personally enjoyed this show quite a bit and leave with some thoughts that came by my mind while watching episode 8.
"How do you know who is sane, if the whole world is crazy? What is actually the reality?"

This review composes of 2 parts, first part being a short review by myself, and the second part will be a review of the low rating reviews given by others.
Part 1:
As the genre of this suggests, it is a slice of life anime with moe elements. So I felt this anime has achieved a great combination from both the art style, the characters, and the music. It brilliantly mixed the parts of elements at work together with cute characters. So at the same time making you feel "ah, I've seen / done this before", you also experience it from another perspective in a more light
...
hearted mood.
The MC, started being clumsy and immature, gradually grows and becomes a more reliable person. The anime showed it very subtly not through describing it, but reducing description. In the first episodes the MC makes many mistakes and seems childish, and contrasting with the last episode where she cared for others, achieved her dream, and has become a true member of the company / team.
Overall, it is a very heart warming, funny and cute anime.
Part 2:
The following will be a review aimed at trying to counter some of the points thrown out by the other reviews that gave low ratings (below 6).
1. "It makes no sense for a girl who has no knowledge of 3D modelling to get hired by a game company":
First of all, she does have knowledge of drawing, and later in the story (not in the anime) it will be shown that her art skill is actually on the equivalent level of the "genius" Yagami Kou. Also, when hiring her, the company did not plan on using her as a main 3D modelling person as seen by the first few episodes. The only non-villager model she made was Sophia, which is only because her boss wanted to give her something to try out after seeing her hard work.
Do keep in mind that the company she works for was never mentioned as "big" or "prestigious", so don't put standards of big companies on to it.
2. "There are so many small problems with the setting of this anime" --Randy_Drews
a. "She got locked out of her office when she went to the washroom"
I did the same thing, so it's possible.
and the same review also stated "the setting is nice" which is opposite of what he stated.
b. "Only one game and she decides to work for this company?!"
Yes, it can happen, and there's something called IP, having only one game or one anime doesn't mean that's all there is to it. Such as Stein's Gate. (one anime / game but it got very popular)
c. "She and many characters make the most annoying sound"
Annoying or not is a personal preference, and you made no description or reasons to why it is annoying. For example, is it repetitive? Is it overly sharp? Is it too loud? Does it not fit the character?
d. "Yuri undertone"
May I just say that this is a discrimination against homosexuality? Also imagine the scenarios in reality, would you still think it is yuri? "a girl cooking for another girl" "A girl recalling past events with another girl" "A girl thinks a young girl who just graduated high-school looks cute"
e. "Poor human interactions"
If you are talking about Hifumi, that is because she is a shy character, if you are talking about the other incidents, please give examples.
f. "The brightness is too high"
Turn down the brightness of your monitor, you are welcome.
g. "The music is forgettable and sounds like a copy of Working!"
It is not, and that's because they are the same genre.
3. --Takeko
hmm, actually I already answered everything in 1., as for his last point of "Who get in a company without knowing the products they worked for?", she was hired to make villagers, what do you expect? And no, she is not a noob.
4. FanteHS
"Also, if the series' premise was to show people working on a videogame, well..you won't see it since characters usually spend 3/4 of each episode talking about silly things and doing everything but working."
Because I bet you you won't want to watch that, and that's also why when people post videos of them drawing things, they put the videos in accelerated speed.
As for the plot, it actually doesn't show people working on a game, because the plot is to show people working in a game company. The wording is slightly different, but it changes the focus completely.
Another point I would like to make is, if the anime captures the most interesting parts of the MCs work, take the 20min of anime away from an 8+ hour of work day, you would come to the conclusion that they have been working hard for at least 7hr40min everyday.

I will have to say the series really have disappointed me.
It had potential, but never really developed any of them. Many elements were used in this anime, but it seems to be just there for making the series broader and cover a bigger range but no depth.
Spoiler Free, general overview:
Yes, this is a comedy. Yes, there might be some parody component, BUT,
that doesn't mean the story and character development can be ignored.
The concept is somewhat interesting, but the way the story develops ruined it.
the good parts first:
For the art and sound of this anime, it is if not better, at least the average: characters are
...
cute, background is beautiful, the musics are nice.
Now the others:
"protagonist meets girls", basically the entire story summarizes in those 3 words. Is there anywhere that is funny? NO. Exciting? NO. When there are interesting stories that happen, it is either quickly skipped over or used poorly to TRY and conceive some comedic elements which failed.
Biggest issues: poorly developed characters, illogical story progression, idiotic character behaviors
(Spoilers)
I will list 3 examples:
1. No matter what happens, the protagonist who is supposedly a normal human being goes to protect the female characters. There is nothing wrong with this, but there is no where that describes if the protagonist puts himself in danger in doing that, or if the female character is in danger. There is also no where that shows whether or not the protagonist thinks about a strategy or puts the surrounding into consideration when the fight starts. So under normal circumstances, I will have to conclude the protagonist is an idiot.
2. Female characters all love the protagonists. Also nothing wrong with this, except when no reason at all is described. One of the biggest example being Ruth(Lucy), where one night, the protagonist hugged her in his sleep, and, SURPRISE, she likes him! WHAT?! and what did the protagonist ever do? NOTHING.
3. Apparently the entire setting is up to the audience to make up in order for things to make sense:
for example, in episode 8, suddenly Harumi, who is supposed to be a normal girl suddenly summons a sword, and says "This is your sword", guess what the protagonist says?
"wakarimashita" "I understand"
wait, what did you understand, please do tell me!!! Because I am so confused D:
If one day, I see a fight break out, a friend of mine summoned a sword, and tells me it's mine, the last thing I say will be "I understand"...
I will go and check out the light novel later, but I am assuming the anime skipped many details in order to fit the story into 12 episodes. I guess the anime at least succeeded in promoting the LN.
