Gorgeously animated, beautifully gruesome body horror, very much a classic anime and a product of its time. There is a reason why this anime is referenced in so many others with the Akira slide. I definitely think this is a crucial watch for anime lovers or people who appreciate the genre and wants to understand its history, you'll definitely be able to see where other media has pulled from this piece. This is my favorite anime of all time and has been for 10 years. I could sing the praises of this anime all day, so I will try to be brief. Hunter x Hunter revolutionizes the shonen genre and fleshes out the characters in a way no other shonen does. Living in this kind of a shonen world is inheritly traumatizing, and this anime explores that through all of its very morally grey characters. It gets more and more emotional and dark as the show progresses, and really connects the viewer to the beautiful world building and deep character development. The soundtrack is abolutely gorgeous

Pretty crucial watch for gore lovers b/c it kinda popped off when it first came out! It's a decent anime but the plot and general ability to follow what is happening gets a little confusing because of the whole "fitting a 10+ hour video game into four 25 minute episodes" thing, I can't totally blame that on them though they work with what they got. I think sometimes the gore gets so excessive that it takes you out of it a little, like it's so much that it's like wut is going on even. There's a lot of harm done to children so if that's
