It's not often that I know right off the bat that a show isn't for me. We start with a very uncomfortable kiss scene between two female friends, both animal-like creatures (a centaur and a bat), in a world where humans don't exist. We stay on the shot for a very long time, which made me uncomfortable. This opening episode sums up a lot of my issues with the series. The opening episode is split into three segments. After the initial segment, which is just lesbian/fanservice bait, the middle segment explains the world and goes into a deep description of war and racism, which is

tonally off balance. The third segment is just the three main female friends hanging out and goofing around, which was the only segment I liked.
The amount of times the series forgoes plot for fanservice is too many to count, and I got more and more uncomfortable with each instance, with some moments bordering on sexual assault. I'm okay with a little fanservice—my favorite anime of all time is the Monogatari franchise, which has its fair share of fanservice—but there was a story and plot to connect the fanservice in Monogatari. Here, there is very little story, not taking advantage of any of the fantastical elements of the show. Why are they animal-like humanoids? You could make this same show without it. If you like slice of life or fanservice, there are better shows for each.
