In contrast to all the characters in this show who are office workers and otakus, Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken focuses on the relationship between an otaku husband, and his working office wife. The shows are similar thematically. Both shows explore relationships in a comedic light showing the transition of the character/s as otakus into young professionals, how they maintain their old and new identities, and the meanings of growing up. Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii fits a standard 25 minute slot, whereas Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken is a 3 minute per episode slice of life based on the 4-koma manga.
