Listen up, most people I know who watch anime aren't people who look at anime super objectively. They don't look look that in depth into the story structure or the soundtrack or the animation or design. Most people I know go based off of feel. If they find an anime good, they'll feel good, if they don't they would feel the opposite, so I wont get into those objective details. Instead, I'll be reviewing how and why this anime feels so goddamn enjoyable to watch.
Some people say that they don't understand why it's rated this high and so I'll tell you why. Firstly, Takemichi
...
is a mc we can all get behind. His perseverance and heart despite his physical limitations and inability to fight just leaves us rooting for him time an time again. Secondly, the character and characters are hella cool. Regardless of how unrealistic it is, nobody can deny that Mikey and the other main gang members have amazing designs that leaves you wanting to learn more about them. Third is that the plot is mysterious and engaging, yet easy to follow. "How does the future end up so messed up time and time again?" are the type of questions you'll be asking. These are the questions that we want answered and therefore theres always a sense of suspense and tension as to why it the future keeps getting messed up and how to solve it. Lastly, it knows how to pull on your heartstrings. One moment you'd be rejoicing and the next you'd be dreading. it's this constant pulling that leaves you wanting more and more.
Tokyo revengers isn't anything special(yet), but it is damn enjoyable. You don't need to throughly think of a deeper meaning behind this anime. Don't overthink, it's simply the story of a man struggling to fight against fate no matter how powerless he feels and inevitable it may seem. While cliche, I'm pretty sure that's a goal any one of us would find inspiring to some extent.
