Both shows revolve around political standpoints, using 2 major forces as main oppositions. Both shows are extremely messy and convoluted, likely due to the script writers working on both animes. Both are also riddled with large portions of content that never needed to have been there, including fan-service, and drama so silly that you think you accidentally clicked on a bad joke of a Lucky Star episode

Both Main characters find love interest in multiple characters which have borderline incestual details, each of these characters have similar mentalities to their respective characters in the show, and overall the shows just share a really similar vibe with a lot of similar theming and genres.

Unexplainable mega phenomenon resulting in ridiculous landscapes and physics that are hard to explain otherwise unexplainable, with darring residents live within or around and partaking in traditional events involving said phenomenon. Curious and unexplainable character introduced at the beginning, who almost instantly hits it off with the knowledgable and almost friendless main character who doesnt have parents. At the start the main character almost dies, saved by the aforementioned character, later becoming friends and is given a 3 letter long name. Main character has problems with one of their five senses, which is linked to the phenomenon in some way. Main villain(s) are guys with blackish masks There is a big black hole at the center of everything. Mysterious protagonist came from the origins of the phenomena and is being called to return by something sinister at the center of it all.

While the animes main premise and story may not be alike, the main and blaring comparison between the two series is the main female characters. Chateau and Violet can be compared in many departments as well as theming. With only watching a few episodes of each show you can easily create many comparisons and spot many similarities. While Love of Kill remains more true to the romance side than Violet, Violet has a more abstract and powerful theming, aswell as being objectively superior to Love of Kill in quality. Both are worth a watch.

Both films are a coming of age about children growing up under abnormal circumstances, and struggling. Each of these stories ends in a rather controversial way where you can only enjoy it if you can accept harsh realities and the truth of growing up. Wolf Children has something over Maquia, and it is that Maquia relies far too much on plot convenience, and a lot of the elements clash, whereas in Wolf Children things worked out better in the story and fell in place a lot smoother, and was easier to understand, and also more for the casual viewing. Both a very emotional and worth a watch.

So many similarities, you can just watch and see what I mean, the main thing separating these shows is that 86 is objectively superior, in story telling, pacing, and character. Akito the Exiled is a lot more boring and uninteresting than 86 is, while having similar themes, 86 holds itself to the theming more than Akito does. Akito was a lot more boring.

Both of these films hold similar theming for the characters, both movies tell similar stories and have very emotional parts to them. Personally I think Grave of the Fireflies holds itself above Maquia in many ways as it relies less and less on plot convenience, lack of foreshadow and reason, aswell as being much more relatable and realistic.

Violet Evergarden
add

Both of these animes have an episodic structure which tells multiple stories across the short time span the series covers, which also tell one larger story of character across the length. Violet Evergarden tends to have much stronger characters and story telling than Death Parade, while Death Parade is more for people who want something less serious to watch as there is a sense of comedy and appears grimmer, while Violet holds onto it's theme throughout the course of the series and barely slips in a new genre towards the end for balance. The most notable similarity between the two is that each story tends to introduce 1 to 2 new characters for the next 1 or 2 episodes, and tell an emotionally taxing story.

Both shows have a very similar character premise, similar and strong protagonist antagonist character dynamic, and revenge plot, sharing very similar theming in character, in overall show concept they're very different. More for people who enjoyed the dynamic of the characters than the shows concept. While Code Geass was all over the place and messy, Attack on Titan managed to also be true to this but in a managed way to where all the mess is actually detail and foreshadow woven together perfectly to where everything works.

Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu.
add

Both shows share genres and normalities, Komi-san has very vibrant side characters, which you can choose to find very entertaining or rather annoying, exactly like in Saiki K, where every character is an exaggeration of their respective archetype. Komi-san tends to lean more towards the romance side than Saiki K does, which I think is done better than Saiki K, while both are repetitive; Komi-san was more captivating, Saiki K being a more casual viewing experience for comedy lovers, more than Komi-san.

Both of these shows focus on a similar concept of returning back in time years before the starting present of the show, in order to prevent a disaster and change the future, both shows share similar respectable quality and are both very captivating and interesting. While also remaining seperate from eachother with other genres and themes, Vivy being more action based, and Erased being more psychological.

Both animes share near identical theming and style, both being in a sort of broken down Slice-of-Life genre, but instead focusing less on the main characters than normal despite being the focus of the show. To put simply, both shows focus on what the characters experience rather than the characters, through discovery and exploration.
