Originally, I gave the first season a 7/10. I thought it was visually stunning and emotionally touching, but the episodic structure felt a bit slow and disconnected at times. That said, when I revisited it later, everything just clicked. I ended up bumping it to a 9 because I realized how much it stayed with me and how beautifully it set up the emotional payoff in the movie. But IMO, the movie deserves a 10/10.

Deserves every bit of that 10/10. The animation is straight-up gorgeous, Kyoto Animation outdid themselves as always, and the music just hits all the right emotional notes. The story wraps up Violet's journey in such a heartfelt and satisfying way, diving deep into love, loss, and moving forward without feeling overly dramatic. It’s slow at times, but that pacing really builds up to an unforgettable ending.

Hi, nice to meet you. There are a couple of anime I think are better than akebi, but I think it's somewhere around the top five for me. I haven't gotten around to reviewing those yet, I'm not quite sure what to say about them. I'm going to binge watch the third season of hibike in about a month...

Clannad is one of those anime that is so good its difficult to watch- the way they are able to tug on the heartstrings with the quality of the stories is frightening. It's almost like sangatsu no lion in that regard. And I've heard the second season is much more drama, so... I'm not sure I want to put myself through that at the moment. Guess I'll have to eventually but paradoxically I'm not looking forward to it.

It's kind of sad that there are so few really good anime and so many mid to awful, but i guess thats how it is with any media.

Just a note: Lucky*Star is an otaku anime. +) You can watch it as just SoL, but you'll probably miss the majority of references, making it less funny.

Just found the first ep. of 86 extremely boring 😿
I can't forgive a boring first ep., that's the episode that's suppose to draw the audience in making them crave for more
I've watched other anime with slow starts, some I even considered dropping, but each of those always had at least a little something in them that sparked enough curiosity to make me wanna watch more
86 didn't do that for me

Here's some i think you might like based on your list (i picked recs based on things you gave 7 or more)

Hunter x Hunter - Dark battle shounen similar to FMAB, JJK, and AOT, also has a good psychological side to it with it's characters maybe similar to Re:zero in that aspect

Cat's Eye - Thieves vs detective show, has a bit of a Konosuba-ish humor to it

Tokyo Godfathers - I found the storytelling style and some of it's themes quite similar to A Silent Voice

Any ideas on which retro anime you want to try next?
