I was really surprised to like this anime considering the reviews I had read. For that reason, I decided to write this review because I don’t think this anime is getting the love it deserves.
I agree the story is rushed and I'm really sad about it because most often we have empty plots being dragged on and this story really had potential to develop beautifully. Because of that, naturally, the pacing and even the characters are a bit unstable at times. The good thing is that it made really curious about the manga because of that.
Concerning other aspects - I liked the art, the songs,
...
I really loved the tenacious and brave female lead, the demons were really sympathetic (Almond I’m looking at you!) and Lord Claude was very charming imo (the way he says Aileen Lauren Dautriche is unforgettable lol). It might not be the most original story in these times of otome/isekai, but I considered this a peculiar one, a very light and sweet romance with exciting adventurous situations.
For my taste and for what I was looking for, it was really good to watch. Finally, I know it's not for everybody and because of that I should choose “mixed feelings”, but I’m choosing to really recommend this because I think it’s a great choice for people interested in this kind of story :)

This anime is a good lesson for not buying a story that features elements you like despite the alarming bad use of them. A vampire setting in a shoujo anime is very appealing and Vampire Knight really manages to charm you into it. However, both seasons considered, the plot is overly secretive to the viewer and it constantly builds up to a tension that the resulting action can't match. I liked this first season, but I'm posting this overall reaview so you can be warned.
See, I'll always have a special spot in my heart for this anime, despite all its flaws, but I can't help
...
but feeling that these characters were wasted (and the manga ending apparently was as bad as this one). The art isn't very elaborated, but it's pretty to watch. Concerning the story, second season leaves you longing for the first season when you still believed the anime could have a better development, which is both positive and negative.
It caught my heart, but then it threw it away. Therefore, I recommend you don't try it because there's a chance you'll like it like I did and it isn't worth it. Try a better quality material than this for your entertainment, you don't need awkward cheap incest and abrupt swifts in your plots. But yeah, despite all of this, I'll have fond memories of Vampire Knight.

A good reason to watch Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is to have a standard for bad romance anime. At first sight, even though the art is poor, you even get a slight glimpse of emotion and you think "maybe this will be cute". You wish.
As the story continues, all we get are random situations that could inspire some character development and offer some insights on their background, but everything falls flat and those situations lead to nowhere really. I wanted to like this story, but TNKK kept working against that will.
My biggest disappointment is the main couple. Shizuku is lifeless until the very end
...
of the story. Haru, however, is a whole new level of annoying. For starters, he behaves like a rip-off of Disney's Tarzan. And then he goes on to act in the most controlling ways such as trying to stop her from studying, beating random men on the streets for looking at her, ordering her to go straight home from the places she goes to, etc. Not to mention he keeps accidentally beating her. And pays no mind to that.
Overall, it wasn't exactly painful to watch because I'm really into this genre, but it got increasingly bothersome. If you decide to watch it, you will get some cute scenes and it does check on some of the cliches you might be eager to watch, but don't expect your heart to skip a beat, it'll be a pretty forgettable experience.
