When I first started to watch Chaos Head the whole show seemed slow and awkward. Meaning that everything was poorly put together and did not really seem to go anywhere. The only thing that kept me watching was the increasing mystery and the fact that it was highly recommended for those who liked Higurashi.
This is one of those shows where the main character is ignorant, cowardly, and terribly unstable all at the same time. Having the main character be an otaku not only made him pathetic and cowardly, but also it resulted in him making stupid decisions. I do not understand why the guy who
...
made this story thought it right to make the main character, Takumi, really easy to hate. The rest of the characters made enough sense, although at first I did not understand why all these girls were somehow attached to Takumi, but it all made sense down the line.
Chaos Head, being so close to Higurashi, was a very dark and mysterious show. At first things sort of happens without explanation, but then more and more is revealed to make a highly complicated and satisfactory plot. After awhile I was hooked on this gory and disturbing plot.
I believe that Chaos Head is highly underrated and can be very enjoyable once one gets into it. I am glad that this show did not turn out to be some corny romance or end in a big battle with no meaning, because although Chaos did have romance and a final battle, both of these were not comparable to the typical anime. So watch Chaos Head because it will not disappoint (I think).
Oh yeah! I forgot to mention the background sound(s) in this show is so perfect it was scary (literally).

For all of those thinking of watching Hayate the Combat Butler let me just say that the comedy in this show focuses mainly on making parodies based on a variety of animes and mangas. So if this is the first time watching anime I would suggest that this would not be a very suitable anime to start on.
Story:
The main plot of Hayate is not very strong, but it does set up a good environment for a comedy to take place. Basically Hayate takes on the role of Nagi Sanzenin's butler in order to pay off the debts left behind from his parents. There is not
...
much story development after that and I'm not exactly sure what there was to develop, but that didn't make the show any less fun to watch. The episodes consist of each episode that doesn't really matter if you watch it or not because most of them don't change anything. Many people may look at that as a turn down, but as a comedy it was probably necessary in order to keep each episode funny. So each episode takes on a different event in the life of a butler is how I could interpret the story.
Animation:
The art/animation for Hayate was, I thought, very well done. The style used for this show was perfect to set the mood of a comedy. There were many bright colors used in the animation from the characters to the background. Also this isn't like other animes where they try to make it as realistic as possible, but this is a positive seeing as they weren't looking for realistic nor a serious looking anime.
Sound:
To get right down to it the theme songs, background music, and character voices were all very upbeat. The theme songs especially made the show seem very much like an upbeat show. As for background music I'm pretty sure they were going for a classy sort of comedic beat seeing as the settings were all suppose to have that rich-like theme. The character voices was probably the strong point in sound. All of the voices suited the characters for what they were suppose to be (except maybe Maria?). So sound is good in all, but nothing really special. =)
Character:
Heres where I thought Hayate succeeded in the most. The characters were what made this show enjoyable and one of the most funniest animes out there. All the characters (and there were MANY) played there parts in jokes that made me laugh throughout the anime. Even the most serious of characters were in their own way comedic and contributed to making this show very funny. One problem I did find was that because there were so many characters some of them found themselves taken out of the storyline for up to 20 episodes (maybe even more). Noticing this problem the makers of Hayate still made a way to turn this into a joke (or maybe it was intentional?).
Enjoyment:
I thought this show was very enjoyable and those looking for a few laughs keep looking because you won't get a "few" you will get ALOT. Although I did enjoy this anime and thought it was very funny there were somethings I thought were annoying or unnecessary. I have nothing against comedy, but I couldn't give this show a 10 for enjoyment because I still like action and horror better... =.=

Hmm... well I have to say that it was somewhat painful for me to watch this anime. The reason for this is because I kept feeling a huge urge to reach in my computer and try to slap some sense into some of the characters. (WAAH!! Its a drama!)
Story:
I don't really know the definition of harem but if that's code for drama then I would have to agree. This show takes off pretty quickly on what I thought what would be a boy meets girl and they have 12 episodes to get together kind of thing. Instead it turns into what could possibly be an
...
animated soap opera that includes the whole package of romance, making out, and betrayal. I usually am not one for the whole drama and stuff but School Days did a good job in pulling me into the developing story that never stopped being exciting. Then after a few episodes I started to wonder whether or not they changed the writers, because past midway into the show it took an interesting turn. Sure it was a big change turning this innocent love triangle into what might be better defined as a hexagon but, it definitely made it fun to watch (made me laugh =P). Also concerning the ending I would say even if you don't like School Days from the start don't give up to easily, seeing as its only 12 eps long and has a interesting way of ending a good show.
Animation:
There's not much to say about animation, but I was kind of confused at some scenes where I saw little mistakes like a character missing a pinky. Also sometimes there were other little things like not bothering to draw in the extras or when a character would be far away they were more lazily drawn. Besides the characters the background itself was pretty a constant theme based around school. Animation was nothing special but still nothing bad...
Sound:
The theme songs seemed to set up the show in a deceiving way by making it look all innocent like. If they were to get a more Higurashi like theme song it would make more sense, but they fitted to be what they were tagged: Harem. As for voices and background music, well the voices were all good and matched up with the personalities of the characters and all. For background music, the weird thing is I don't remember hearing any BGM, but that only means it wasn't special or horrible enough to remember.
Character:
What do you get when you find pair up a clueless sex-driven retard and a bunch of horny girls? School Days! Really though, the characters in this show were a little unrealistic on some standards. The one thing I don't like about the main character was that he was stupid and only cared for sex. I didn't mind the actions as much as what was backing up the act. As for the other two main characters one I felt constant pity towards while the other I thought just made the story more interesting. Now the rest of the supporting characters is where things start to get ridiculous. I kept thinking if schools were really like that then the population would double in a year.
Enjoyment:
I found this show very enjoyable to watch and thought it succeeded in making a sad and crazy anime. If your not into drama then I would strongly suggest watching something else because that's basically what this show is made of. If you like a show that doesn't hold back and gets really FUBAR at some points then this might be close. I thought it was a good show and would suggest watching it, so yeah...

Seeing as I haven't read the manga for this show (or any manga for that matter) I won't be referring or comparing these two (as I hear that the manga is "way" better than the show).
Story:
To me the story didn't seem to be very great from the start. Basically in the first episode everything was put together and it felt rushed and was a very lazy way to introduce the characters and plot. Then after I watched further into the show I got even more disappointed as I found out that the style of Tsubasa was just a bunch of mini stories making up the
...
show that didn't really develop the initial story. However, I did like how Tsubasa would come up with different ideas of the mini stories making it somewhat interesting to see what would happen next, except then I kept finding myself getting annoyed by the fact that none were very good and lacked interest.
Animation:
Well once again I still find that art/animation isn't very hard to accomplish with today's standards. Like most animes the animation was pretty much the same as any other anime. The characters were well drawn and the backgrounds were up to detail. There was one point where I felt I was watching an anime from the 90's because of the poorly drawn facial expressions and extras, but everything else felt normal as normal gets.
Sound:
This may be a little biased, but the sound was very corny at times. I know they were trying to be dramatic (or maybe romantic) by playing slow music during some of the episodes and it would have been good if they didn't do it for 5 times. After hearing it over and over again it became (to me at least) a joke. Like: "Oh god, now there doing a music montage and getting 10 different close-ups of everyones face." They could have done with a little variety of background music also, seeing as they were visiting different worlds that could do with more than just the same tune. As for theme songs I thought they were good and helped set the mood of the story.
Character:
Usually when I watch an anime there's always one character whom I wish would simply die and get out of the picture. In this show, although it was close at times, there wasn't really any characters I hated. When I first began to watch this show I already knew what the roles and personalities of all the main characters would most likely be and I was dead on for all of them except Sakura. I don't know if that is a positive to know what the characters would be like because then I easily predicted (and they were all so predictable) what each character would do and got bored of seeing the same thing happen. Predictability is no problem if the characters themselves are interesting which I found most to be. Also as a side note there were no supporting characters. For example if you see a new character and he/she leaves the picture then there outta there! FOR GOOD =)
Enjoyment:
I guess I could say this show had a bad start for me and if I would have only watched they first half then I would probably give enjoyment a 3. But then after a while I started to enjoy some of the episodes and thought that overall it was an ok if not good show to watch. Maybe its just me but, this show is too soft (this is coming from someone who likes gorey animes). Not great but not bad so I give it a 7. (6 to me is where I begin start to hating)

I haven't written any reviews for any anime so this may be a bit rocky. -.-
Story:
Stand Alone Complex is definetly not your normal anime. Just the name should give away the fact that this is a different kind of anime. What i have to say about the story of Ghost in the Shell is that it is really confusing. If you are looking for an anime that you can sleep through then keep looking because even if you are able to read the subs (i like to watch only subbed anime =) then there is still a high possibility that you won't get what's going
...
on. The reason I didn't give GITS a high score in the story category was mainly because the plot wasn't steady as it should have been. I actually didn't even know what the plot was until the very end of the show. Instead what i got was a bunch of random episodes that mostly didn't correspond with each other. Its just not that enjoyable...
Art:
Hmm...what do I say about art? Art these days usually doesn't have the major mistakes it used to back in the old days. I gave art a 7 because although it didn't have anything wrong with it, I still didn't like it. The art in this show is more realistic than that of others (as in if you see an old guy you also see every wrinkle on that old guy...). The thing is I just couldn't fully accept the style of this anime's animation.
Sound:
If by sound does that mean sound effects, voices, or music? In any case I would still give it a 8. I didn't notice much in sound effects besides what would sound normal in reality (guns, footsteps, ect). As for voices for the characters, I thought all suited the characters exceptionally well. The main reason I gave this category a 8 was because of the music and background music. The main theme song turned out to be one of the best anime songs I have heard. It also really set the mood for what this show was trying to be.
Character:
The characters in this show did not do much of a job in any development. Mostly they were just there and none of them had much of a story. What I look for in a character is a sense of attachment which is exactly what i didn't get in GITS. Instead I felt like I didn't care what happened to any of them and actually felt like the show would be better without some. One character I did like was Tachikoma, but that was only because it was a giant fighting robot with machine guns and rocket launchers that had the personality of a child (who doesn't find that funny?)
Enjoyment:
Well this series did have its ups and downs (mostly downs) and i ended up feeling like it would have been better if i didn't waste my time. The fact is I couldn't get into this show because there was no character development, little plot, and it made cyborgs sound boring and useless. If your looking for a show where you can't wait for the next episode to begin then i suggest that you don't watch this show...
