Tall, lanky, bizarre, manipulative, dominant-personality male with an obsession for mysteries controls young, comparatively weak-willed schoolgirl. The girl is coerced into setting the stage for the mysteries' climax, while the male uses his control over psychology to resolve each situation. The above describes the early premise of both series. The relationship between Yotsuya and Makoto carries the same dynamic as the one between Neuro and Yako. Neuro (series) features supernatural elements as a medium for the character interaction, while Yotsuya (series) uses horror to the same effect. Neuro (series) does eventually increase its supernatural elements and develop more into an action series, but the early chapters of both series feature strong thematic similarities.
