I COMPLETELY agree with you on the Takagi-san manga and the spin-off that takes place in the future. I too have yet to read either, and have just stuck with both the anime and the film (which I heard takes all the best part of the manga anyways). But much like you, I'm not completely ruling out reading the entire series, plus the spin-off either! ^^ I also think it's pretty fascinating that your friend is the one who queued you in on the manga! I will say I find it both hilarious and a bit strange that, from what I've seen of the manga at least, their daughter also 'teases' Nishikata! LMAO maybe it'll seem less random if I decide to read it but we'll see! (^o^)

THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!! Jeez, the anime scene in Barcelona sounds so dope! 😭😭 To experience local otaku culture by people who love the medium such as yourself sounds magical! And even more fascinating is that, well judging by the name of the event, is more or less centered around manga? That's so cool, I think I'm going to have to look that up. Might have to attend it in one of my travels in the future! How long has it been going on for, or at least how long have you been attending and do you cosplay? :o

I just did some research into Manga Barcelona and THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!! 😃 Definitely want to attend it sometime! Do the Catalan Idols preform at this event too? Since I'm assuming you attend every Catalan Idol concert you can, with or without it being at 'Manga Barcelona'. And now after typing this I'm going to look more into Catalan Idols, since I came across a group while writing you this message called, 'SH1NY ST4RS'! Regardless if they're still active or not, I wanna check them out! ;]

As for here in the states, more specifically mine [California]. I'm sure it wouldn't surprise you to say that anime is pretty huge here, with cons, events, stores focusing on otaku merch being at an all time high! That being said, to answer your question more specifically, there's really not a whole lot of idol concerts here despite all of that. Even at conventions (where I like to cosplay and preform break-dancing routines and what not :P) you'll have workshops, and flash-dance events of people preforming idol, anime, and k/j-pop dance routines, but not in a legitimate concert like setting ;/ . At most we have a DJ, and sometimes a J-pop singer (RARE), but if there were a, somewhat, local idol group like the ones you have in Barcelona, I would for sure support them, much like you! 😁

YESSS! So glad you plan on watching On-Gaku, it's incredible and definitely gives off Sonny Boy vibes ngl. Tell me what you think of it cause I'd love to discuss it with you, and it's a relatively short film too, it's just GAH soo good! Yeah I mean that's a fair way of choosing what animanga you want to engage in. You jump into the medium, find your niche, and keep digging into it while still trying stuff outside your comfort zone from time to time, if you want that is. Personally for me, I just focus on my enjoyment from a series and/or if I gleam something positive from it regardless of its popularity. But for me it was kinda reverse of you, I started out as someone who ONLY read/watched niche stuff, until coming around to enjoying series that are more widely recognized! But that being said TYSM, and speaking of great taste in series such as yours....

So I actually have a question regarding Idol series I'm interested in watching. I've already put all the ones you've recc'd into my 'PTW' list so thanks again, but there's another series a friend recc'd to me called, 'Heartcatch: Precure" and I was wondering if that falls under the idol pantheon as well? And there's a series coming out this season called, "Princession Orchestra" and from what I heard it's not necessarily a 'Precure' series, but should I still try out precure before watching that series? AND LAST IDOL ANIME QUESTION I SWEAR! 😭😭 But what are your thoughts on 'Maebashi Witches' so far? Since I think that's a series we're both watching this season. :]

BUT YES, I loved reading your journey into getting into idol-anime! It does seem like IDM@S Cinderella Girls is the place to start, so aside from what's airing this season, that will the series I'll plunge myself into regarding this genre, and I look forward to discussing my favorite idol with you! Judging from how you popped into the genre, Love Live is another quintessential idol anime series I'll watch after IM@S!

Thank you for the interview, and that's so cool you got your cousin into it as well! I think Sonny Boy has an interesting reach of people it can resonate with. Perhaps this applies to your cousin, but if someone just enjoys 'abstract media' and at least a couple anime series, then they'll likely get something good out of Sonny Boy. That was the case with my mother at least, and I've got her into animanga heavy since about 2021 (sry mom lmao).

I actually haven't browsed the Sonny Boy reddit so this is a treat too, thanks for sharing and I'll likely read through some of the theories and speculation at somepoint! I'm just glad it seems to be a series that's getting more recognition with time, since I remember it came out in a season of heavy-hitters! If I come across any neat ideas from the subreddit, then perhaps I'll bring them up in my next message to discuss with you? ;o (if that's daijoubu?)

That's so cool that your friend recc'd it to you and you ended up loving it! It's really one of, if not the sweetest series ever made. Each season was better than the last, and that move was incredible! Did you see it, and if you did what did you think of it?! I had the pleasure of being able to catch it in theaters, great experience! I'm curious though, since you love idol anime, and I'm only fond of a handful of idols, what are some of your favorite idol series? Perhaps one in particular you'd recc to a newcomer? :O

Yes, agreed Sonny Boy is the GOAT! God we need more Sonny Boy, and or Sonny Boy like anime originals! So GOOD! I know the ending is contentious among fans, what is your take on it? 😭😭

Ooh, good question! I absolutely loved all the chapters, but if I needed to choose a few, my favorites that I always remember are the last one, the one where they find the ant-people (that's the one that made me put it a 10 xd) and the Monkey League xd

But really, loved all the chapters, Yamabiko one is GOD and super original!

Sonny Boy is absolutely the GOAT!!! I know this could be a tricky question, but do you have a favorite episode? For me it might be the episode that focuses on Yamabiko. But holy smokes each ep is basically perfect!
