Well, this is my first review.
To start, I would like to say that I'm a Clannad fan, it is my favourite anime.
Story:
The pace for the first episode is pretty fast, and I like fast paced series. The pacing does slow down for the second episode though. At first, you think that the storyline is very shallow because of the relaxed tone of the first part of the first episode. But after viewing two episodes, you realize that the storyline is rather sentimental, and each character has his/her own troubles. You actually start wondering if the story can actually finish within 13 episodes, without rushing it.
Art:
I'm
...
a sucker for good art, and the art of Angel Beats! is just awesome. It uses some 3D effects here and there, but it's not overwhelming like some of the new series (Durarara! for example). I don't mind Durarara! styled art, but I prefer traditional 2D art with 3D effects only where appropriate, and the art of Angel Beats! is just that. Though, I do have a few gripes about the character art, as with a couple of the newer series. For example, Yuri's knee socks look like they are made out of latex or rubber at times. Other than that, the art is nothing short of epic.
Sound:
The voices of the characters are just right, the BGM is very well chosen, and the effects are very well chosen too. The OP and ED songs are just right for this series in my opinion. And the overall sound quality of the Mazui version is pretty good.
Character:
There's nothing too new about characters; they are all pretty generic. Though, it is the first time that I've seen a smart-looking guy being a moron in reality. Angel is an interesting antagonist, though. It is still a bit too early in the series to actually take a good look at the characters in my opinion.
Enjoyment:
Definitely one of the most enjoyable series that I've seen all year. As expected of a Key VN adaption, there is a lot of humour mixed into a serious plot, just like Clannad. I enjoy it so much that I'm just watching the two episodes over and over again in anticipation for the 3rd one.
Overall, this series meets my expectations perfectly, and in my opinion deserves a 10/10.
