Even though settings and overall plot are very different, they both have a similar feeling of random comedy, which in both cases works and it's very funny. If you liked one you will probably enjoy the other as well. Both recommended.

Take Kenshirou from Fist of the North Star, without his overpowered martial arts, but instead give him a giant overpowering sword able to cut down dozens of people with a single stroke. Put him in a middle-age semi-fantasy world, and let him act as a mercenary under a strong and charismatic general with the strategic ability of Lelouch from Code Geass and essentially you have Berserk in a nutshell. Similarities: - both are very mature anime - they share a strong leading character fighting against powerful enemies - they both have romance and epic fights - they both have a revenge theme (which is however more pronounced in Fist of the North Star) Dissimilarities among the shows: - Berserk is military centered and has a cast of several recurring characters - Fist of the North is mainly focused on Ken alone and has more shounen elements to it - Fist of the north has many more episodes to enjoy
