Story -
When I watched Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day), I was amazed at the story. It's unique and for me had a slightly nostalgic feel to it.
Art -
The art in Anohana is definitely good but not exactly new/unique. It's quite a common art style in my opinion.
Sound -
...
The sound in the series is something I really love. The opening, Aoi Shiori by Galileo Galilei is very nostalgic and touching. The music to this piece fits the anime perfectly and the songs space suits the speed of the opening.
Another piece of music I like from Anohana is 'Last Train Home' - an instrumental piece by Hiroaki Sano appears in many sad scenes in the anime. This piece is by far my favorite, it helps add feeling to the scenes perfectly.
Character -
Most of the characters in this show get a lot of development throughout the show. All of them get a little, some more than others. But I think the personalities to the characters are amazing. I think Chiriko Tsurumi - one of the 5 main friends deserves a lot more development and screen time throughout the show, since she gets the least; However, she is the quiet type anyway.
Enjoyment -
This show, for me, was enjoyable because of the emotion behind it. The story was fresh, it wasn't an overused story seen on a lot of animes. Considering the manga didn't come out until after the anime (the anime was based off of nothing) the anime turned out fine.
Overall -
Anohana as a whole is an outstanding anime for those who enjoy anime full of emotion and drama. I've never seen anything like it in my life. Despite being an 11 episode series, the story is a slow(ish) pace and nothing is cramped in last minute.
