Story
Simply put, the more you progress through the story arcs, the more convoluted it becomes. It gets really bad during the survival game part that is covered in 2 volumes. It is equivalent to an 8 year old continually making rules to a game that is changed to his or her convenience. That really summarizes all the story sections in general.
Characters
The way the characters think and talk seem like they are trying to sound really clever when it really is a bunch of bs that would make a politician blush. The amount of dialogue needed to convey their feelings and attitude is often only a

third of what is there. It's like the author just had free-writing exercises and forgot to edit it.
Overall
I will probably be cyber-lynched for sharing my opinion on this critically acclaimed piece of literature, but personally this series just screams mediocre to me, hence the score. I'm really just reading it because I literally have nothing else to read during my breaks. Though the characters and their story of struggle had potential, in the end it's just a big ball of convolution for you to un-ravel with sticky fingers.

Kill la Kill is the first full-blown anime television series produced by the up and coming, promising studio Trigger composed of industry vets that broke away from Gaynax to escape from their eye-gouging futanari torture simulations. Kill la Kill is the foretold shepherd that was to solely save the anime industry, which is something that some people said on the internet. To the shock of absolutely everyone, those people from the internet were absolutely right.
Story: 4
Honestly, the story was so shallow, like there was not a lot to eat in the plate of delicious story-ness. The writers pretty much pulled a half-baked story out of
...
their ass, with the only progression consisting of getting stronger like every other generic shounen fighting anime. They also tried really hard to get things to stick, like expressions such as something about wearing clothes, and not being worn by clothes and clearly distinguishing that clothes are not people and vice versa. Sorry Trigger, trying to force things without the proper meaningful adhesive wont earn you the reward of fans quoting your anime to the ends of time. Actually forcing things in general are quite bad to do from personal experience.
Art: 7
The art was actually quite pleasing to my personal tastes. Sure, some corners were obviously cut due to delivery dates and budgets, but the characters and the apparel had interesting, stimulating designs and it looked cool when things got rough. My only concern is why show dog and little kid dicks? They had many chances to show full-grown man dick which frustrated me to no end.
Characters and Enjoyment: 8
The characters in kill la kill were all definitely one of this series strong points. Each was likable and had their own unique charms. The only exception to this was ironically the star of the show Ryuko, who is dull in comparison and overshadowed by the rest of the cast and only purpose was to provide half-erections. The only thing I can say about the fighting and action scenes from this anime are that they are top notch. If you want to see something stylish, extravagant and heart pumping, then you've come to the right place.
Overall: 7
The best kind of anime in this genre are those who wobble on the border between order and chaos. Kill la Kill leaned more in the side of chaos, being zany and quirky for the sake of being that way too often. However, it does pull off being exciting for most of the ride with characters that you will endear until the final credits roll. Overused review ending insert.

Story: 6
The story could have been better. It dragged on for too long and some parts, and really struggled to try to be funny. Most of the time I figured, "Oh the writer wants this to be funny. It was hardly worth a chuckle, that's too bad". The characters do stuff with magic and have magical pets that are not that funny either. The magic serves it's purpose for the most part, but it mostly serves as a mask to try to keep the show interesting with its mostly lack-luster ability to provide humor. So the story gets a 6 which is like a D
...
in the American grading scale for barely passing.
Art: 7
Importantly the art is clean, even though it is a bit simplistic. Sometimes simplicity can be a good thing, but it was a little too much. Like the magical pets, is that beautiful man's pet a mole, or is it his poo?
Characters: 6
The characters could barely hold my interest, they were very generic and just above the threshold of tolerable. In other words just very average. The characters and their interactions were integral to the enjoyment of this series. Though they are not very likable, yet dislike able at the same time. When they talk and I am supposed to laugh, it makes me not really want to laugh, but sometimes I smile for their minuscule glimmer of charm.
Overall: 6
Zero Familiars is a show that tries to be funny, but falls short in many of its comedic setups. Though the characters are a bit generic, they are the driving force behind the anime and pass by their small amount of merit. In nutshell, this show is just as average as they come. Also the title can be misleading, it says zero familiars but there are familiars everywhere. But it actually refers to how much this anime stands in comparison to other familiar anime in its genre.

Are you a fan of moe? Have you ever participated in airsoft? Well, I guess if you answered no to the first question, it's a given that you will probably not find much enjoyment from this show.
The main attraction to this show (besides the kawaii moe desu blob) is the "sport" of airsoft. Now, I use the word "sport" cautiously, but that subject seems to be the base model that this show follows. Basically, you will get more out of this show if you've ever participated in airsoft. At least, if you have enjoyed it. You will reflect the thrill, joy, and excitement of
...
the characters onto your own experience. This is what makes it fulfilling to watch each episode. As expected from an anime, this one makes airsoft look 10 times more awesome than it really looks. These girls make it look incredibly flashy and stylish. Also, there's the fact most of the characters are girls playing airsoft. HAHA no, not in real life indeed. So if you're gonna enjoy the show, you better hang that suspension of disbelief right on that coat hanger next to the door.
There are many good things to say about the characters, but there is also one glaring weakness that drags the show down because of them. Overall, each character of the main cast seems to stand out in both design and personality. To further complement them, each even have their own distinct playstyle and use different types of weaponry. Unfortunately, it all goes to waste since they don't really get fleshed out at all besides the main character Yura. The show entirely focuses on Yura, overseeing her complete transformation in character. She's basically the cliched rookie that exceeds everyone's expectations. At one point during this transformation, she crosses a line into one extreme and becomes very unlikable to the audience for awhile. To conclude, it is a shame that most of the main characters were thrown to the sideline in favor of giving Yura most of the spotlight. Perhaps a second season may be able to amend this flaw. Maybe some day...
As for the music, well it's fantastic! When the jazz kicks up, it just really seems to flow along really well with the action happening on screen in an odd sort of way.
For the most part, Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu seems to follow a formulaic sport/action plot, but contains a few surprising twists here and there to keep it interesting. Not the best anime ever for sure, but if you're like me it may rekindle some old feelings if you have ever played airsoft before.

This is a story of "boy meets girl", and then nothing else happens.
Now before I begin my thoughts, I'd like to say that I am a sucker for the anime romance genre. I went in this movie with high expectations, and came out watching one drab, albeit beautifully illustrated animated film.
Byousoku 5 Centimeter had a promising beginning. There is a very touching scene during the (seemingly) fated encounter of the main characters. Unfortunately there is no more enjoyment to extract after this. The rest of the movie consists of observing the inability of the male lead to get over his first love. At
...
this point it becomes completely mundane, watching the mc twiddle his thumbs and waste his life wishing he did not have to grow up and apart from his one-time sweetheart. Realistic? Perhaps, but a part of realism that I want to get away from when I watch a film to begin with.
Sure, Byousoku 5 Centimeter is pretty, yet it is dull and unflattering in the story department... at least past the beginning.
