decent manga i think

the art is astonishing for sure and the characters all have some depth to it. however the fact that there are too many characters blindly obsessed over love is something disturbing to me. looking at them devalue themselves, voluntarity choose to be treated like a dog, like a fucking toy, even to the point that they distort their own mind and willing to commit homicide, for just one man, no matter how handsome he is, is always very irritating to me. but it is not really an imperfection of this manga cuz i bet there really are people like that in ... real life as well.

the thing i don't like about this manga is that it is too short. i can understand that the author's intention is not to make shuji a bad guy, but there is reason behind his wrongdoings which mainly is his obsession over his childhood friend, haruma. but this obsession itself is very confusing yet ill-explained, thus makes it very hard to believe. i just wish the author could have added 1 or 2 more chapters to dig deep into the background of this character cuz at the end of the day he is the center of all the dramas

well, what can i say about?

i think the concept of the story is great. i love the genre and the bond among the 5 main characters are admirable. i really enjoyed watching them interacting, even when they really commit a murder and feel okay about it.

however i think the story kinda decline as it goes towards the end. i don't really like the detective character. he is out of nowhere and can read literally everything with unreal accuracy, yet does nothing really special in the story, he is a threat to the group but hides in the shadow most of the time and even after ... he surfaces as the threat that the group are aware of he still doesn't show up much, as the story revolves around the group so he is the antagonist, a main one even because he is the last one that they have to face, yet he has very limited interaction with the story.

oh and that both girls in the group crazily love Shintato to the point that one is willing to commit murder and the other loves to be raped by him is kinda disturbing as well.

but all those cons aside, i still highly regard this manga, mostly because of its psychology genre. and it really made me thrilled the entire ride. i couldn't stop binging straight to the end.

I set a low expectation before reading the manga, and it blew my mind. Never thought a story about a post-apocalyptic world could be so enticing. Here are some thoughts:

- Being scientifically accurate aside (cuz I'm definitely in no position to judge that), the story which revolves around a lone prodigy surviving and rebuilding a collapsed world from scratch is definitely something I have never read and was looking for. It brings some The Martian vibe, but even wilder as he has to start definitely from scratch. A very well-built world plus a logical events, I feel like if the population were to be really ... petrified one day, things would go exactly like the manga.

- Art is good. I don't have much to go on about this.

- It has a very good set of characters. Everyone is well-built with good backstory and sensible motive. The imperfection lies in the oversize of this circle as there are a lot of characters being left out most of the time.

- Watching the prodigy climb every single step on the ladder of technology advancement is 10 billion percent a delightful experience. It feels like a rewind of human history and a little glimpse to the future even. I really love how the story starts in a rudimentary, pre-historic setting and ends up in a futuristic world. Past, present, future altogether, what else can I ask for? However, there were rushes here and there, making the story considerably less realistic, which can be taken as a flaw considering the genre of the manga.

Worth my 40 mins.

The anime is decent at pretty much everything.

It is good, not to the point that it is remarkable, but it is good.

It is sad and satisfactory at the same time and brings the very same vibe as Shinkai Makoto's works. Sad but not depressing, very subtle. I like the fact that I won't get obsessed over the story, but the message of how beautiful life is that the anime carries will definitely linger in my mind for a while.

If anything I think this is a safe debut for Ioundraw as a director as the concept of the story ... isn't new at all so I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

Highly recommend if you want a short ride of emotion.

Mixed feeling. Overall the manga delivers a good worldbuilding yet it is still incomplete here and there. 90% of the characters are very attractive but their potential is never exploited to the fullest, some have a very poor ending. During the climax everything is so difficult to keep track as it is all wall of text. I gave up trying to understand at some point and just looked at the pictures. Not to mention the characters look so alike as to make things worse. The ending is a lit bit sudden and seems rushed. AND WHY TF IS THERE NOT A FLASH FORWARD. An ending ... is not an ending without a flash f***ing forward. Where is my flash forward?

I would call my experience throughout the progress of the manga weird and unusual but not necessarily in a bad way.

Breaking down all the aspects of the manga, every single one of them is satisfactory in my belief, from the art, the characters, the story and so on. I did very enjoy reading. But put them all together, I find it hard to give it better than a 7. Because of all the imperfections that are apparently seen and reviewed by other readers: the rushed ending, the ambuguity of the main couple in the end, etc. Altho the reasons behind those flaws are all ... explained in the exit interview after the last page of the last chapter, I still wish it could have had another ending, less rushed and more complete.

Put aside the ridiculous background story of a 30 year old gal hanging out with a high schooler, I would say the story overall is decent. It is light-hearted, easy to understand, maybe lacks a little bit of drama and cuddling scenes and is hilarious here and there. The jokes are not that funny but just enough to make me laugh once in a while, I personally do not like the jokes about "commoners", just feel it way too disrespectful sometimes.

Art is not impressive, pretty decent, I wish it were more memorable. Characters are not developed well either. Except for the footballer boy the ... rest of the buddies are forgettable, having little to no background story or arc to provide an insight about them. Focusing too much on the male character's family is not something I appreciate cuz they are not that interesting either. There are a lot of stories about this family that have an open but without an end and that is why I say this manga lacks a little drama.

And as someone who is always too rational (somewhat a bad habit) I kinda feel irritated with the main couple having a triplet in the epilogue, cuz seriously how rare it is to conceive a triplet?

I can sum up this review with 1 word: decent. Defintely not an outstanding manga with a timeless impact but just makes the cut to be a good entertainer. Tho I believe it could have been improved on so many aspects. At least the ending is satisfactory.
