I reaaaalllly would love to give this manga a 9 or 10, but i sadly can not do such a thing. I ll explain why:
I have two main reasons for reducing the rating of this manga. The 1st one being:
The Art. I have no idea how anyone can say that this autors works look good. After watching season 1 of oshi no ko, i was really thrilled to read the manga, but i actually stopped after a few chapters (and picked it up again after months) because the art is so over the top. I have read some chapters of kaguya and sadly the autor
...
didnt improve. Initially the characters look fine, nothing crazy good but not ass either, but their conversations are soooo disgusting to read. There are action lines (idk how to call the action/inensity lines when someone screams and stuff) every 3rd panel for no reason at all. They are talking and for some reason it s supposed to look intense or thrilling. Reading this feels like watching brainrot tiktok because people start screaming for litually 0 reason and stop again. A one punch man fight to the death has less action lines than some oshi no ko character talking about their favourite food.
After reading like 30 chapters i stopped caring and seeing it, but it made me drop the manga for some time. so -1,5 stars
The second reason for reducing rthe rating isssssss.... i hate to say it... THE ENDING
Ikik it s only a fraction of the manga, but sadly the end is what you remember the most.
1st of all, having a psycho as the villain is the MOST BORING AND LAZY WORLD CREATION POSSIBLE. I want to understand the villain or even root for him. But instead you get a boring, unpredictable character because he is supposed to be unpredictable. There was an attempt to explain the villain through aquas movie, but all it does is explaining his tragic backstory. I feel sorry for him and understand that he has serious trauma and stuff, but from my point of view him going crazy and trying to kill ruby, his daughter, with the reson of doing so is...... him being crazy???? is just a lazy way to end the manga. His motives are not understandable at all. The people he manipulated are actually good characters. You understand why ai s former comrade does stuff. But the main villain being this plain really ruins a lot of the manga for me. Having a plain, not relatable psycho as the main villain ruins every story.
And additionally killing aqual, who is supposed to be a big brain thinker the way the author did was just forced. He could ve made up some master plan or whatever, but aqua simply killing himself out of character only so ruby and the reader can be sad is bullshit. -1.5 stars again
Thats it. I kow most of it is a personal opinion, but i hope you can at least understand my thought process behind giving such a good manga only a 7

Better than Fullmetal Alchemist (real)
Now i need some text to publish this review, so here we have the Bee movie script:
Shrek, a grouchy, mean, selfish yet insecure green ogre that has always enjoyed living in peaceful solitude in his swamp, finds his life disrupted when numerous fairy-tale beings, including Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, and Donkey, are forced into the swamp by order of the obsessive, perfectionist, fairy-tale despising Lord Farquaad. Shrek leaves the swamp to ask Farquaad for the return of his privacy, with his new friend Donkey happily tagging along.
Meanwhile, Farquaad tortures the Gingerbread Man into revealing the whereabouts of the remaining
...
fairy-tale creatures until his guards rush in with an object Farquaad has been searching for: the Magic Mirror. The Mirror tells him that Farquaad can only become a real king by marrying a princess (completely disregarding his original question regarding if his kingdom was the fairest of them all).
The Mirror gives him three princesses to choose from (in a parody of The Dating Game): Cinderella, Snow White, and Princess Fiona. Farquaad chooses Fiona and silences the Mirror before he can mention "the little thing that happens at night" (which is later revealed to be a curse). Shrek and Donkey arrive at Farquaad's palace in Duloc, where they find themselves in the midst of a tournament. The winner will have the "privilege" of attempting to rescue Fiona from a castle surrounded by lava and protected by a fire-breathing dragon so that Farquaad may marry her. Shrek (with some help from Donkey) easily beats the other knights in a fashion that resembles a wrestling match and Farquaad agrees to remove the fairy-tale creatures from the swamp if Shrek rescues Fiona.
Shrek and Donkey travel to the castle and split up to find Fiona. Donkey encounters the dragon and sweet-talks the beast to save himself before discovering that the dragon is female. Dragon takes a liking to Donkey and carries him to her chambers. When Shrek finds Fiona, she is appalled at his lack of romanticism. As they are leaving, Shrek manages to save Donkey, caught in Dragon's tender clutches, and causing her to become irate, chasing Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey out of the castle. At first, Fiona is thrilled to be rescued but quickly becomes disappointed when Shrek takes his helmet off and she realizes that he is an ogre.
The three make their return journey to Farquaad's palace, with Shrek and Fiona finding that they have more in common with each other along the way and falling in love. However, at night, Fiona refuses to camp with them, taking shelter in a nearby cave until morning. Shrek and Donkey stay awake and watch the stars while Shrek informs Donkey that he plans to build a 10-foot wall around his swamp when he returns. When Donkey persistently asks Shrek why he is doing this, Shrek sadly confesses to him that everyone judges him before they get to know him. Therefore, he feels he is better off alone, despite Donkey's admittance that he did not immediately judge him when they first met. Fiona hears this and decides to be kinder to Shrek the next day.
The next night, Fiona takes shelter in a nearby windmill. When Donkey hears strange noises coming from the windmill, he finds Fiona has turned into an ogress. Fiona explains she was cursed as a child and turns into an ogress every night, which is why she was locked away in the castle, and that only a kiss from her true love will return her to her "love's true form". Shrek, about to confess his feelings for Fiona, overhears part of their conversation, and is heartbroken as he misinterprets her disgust at her transformation into an "ugly beast" as being disgusted with him. Fiona makes Donkey promise not to tell Shrek about the spell, vowing to do it herself, but when the next morning comes, Shrek has brought Lord Farquaad to Fiona. The two return to the castle, while a hurt Shrek returns to the now-vacated swamp, not long after breaking off his friendship with Donkey, out of anger.
Shrek finds that, despite his privacy, he is miserable and misses Fiona. Donkey comes to the swamp, angry at Shrek and Shrek reveals that he overheard their conversation. Donkey keeps his promise to Fiona and tells Shrek that she was talking about someone else. He then tells him that Fiona will be getting married shortly, urging Shrek into action to gain Fiona's true love. They are able to travel to Duloc quickly, thanks to Dragon, who had escaped her confines and followed Donkey.
They interrupt the wedding before Farquaad can kiss Fiona, but not before the sun sets, which causes Fiona to turn into an ogress in front of everyone. While her transformation causes Shrek to fully understand what he overheard at the windmill, Farquaad, disgusted over the change, orders Shrek killed and Fiona imprisoned, but Shrek whistles for Dragon, who bursts in and devours Farquaad. Shrek and Fiona admit their love for each other and share a kiss; Fiona is bathed in light as her curse is broken but is surprised to find that she has remained an ogress, as she thought she was supposed to become beautiful, to which Shrek replies that she is beautiful. The two of them get married in the swamp and depart on their honeymoon while the rest celebrate by singing "I'm a Believer".
Taht s not the Bee movie script sorry

This isnt an actual review but the pov of someone who doesnt like this manga
1st of all - I have NOT read the entire manga. I gave it some shots, but was still disappointed. So, why is that?
1 - The jokes are hit or miss. My main genre is comedy and i reeeeeaally love a good romace show, but especially in the beginning, most jokes just didnt hit. I mean, there is an underwear misunderstanding joke that s somehow not funny???? like how??? I dont understand how some of the jokes are even supposed to be funny, even if humor differs form person to person.
...
BUT, if the jokes hit, they are good. It gets better later on, but then i dropped it for other reasons...
2 - The reason is kaguya. I hate this character. She has like 0 good aspects... She keeps lying to herself that she doesnt like shirogane, is arrogant af, has no respect for human lives (asks her maid to go out with shirogane, embarresses her, still loses to her... honestly i think Hayasaka and Shirogane would be a better couple) or lives of animals (puts cat in engine of running car like dafuq???) or property (idk how often she destroyed the poor car at this point...) I dont know her background yet, all i know is that she has some random family issues. It better be the most tragic shit possible for her character to be this bad.
3 - plot edging. Guess what.... Kaguya is the problem. She is so obviously in love with shirogane it hurts, what isnt a bad thing over all. There are so many good opportunities, but NOTHING HAPPENS FOR 80 CHAPTERS. Shirogane fulfills her wish to see the fireworks, they sit together in the car and she looks at him and realizes that she loves him. One of the most moving moments in the manga, at least within the first 80 ch. NOTHING HAPPENS AFTERWARDS it s frustrating... Like, she cant love him more at this point, how can anyone keep reading like "yeah, it s fine that she does nothing with her feelings and it s obviously normal that she questions these feelings like 3 chapters later, ok"
So that s basically why i dropped it. I wont complain about the art, it s bad in the beginning but whatever.
A smaller point is that just like in oshi no ko, some dialogues have visually too much action, like ppl sweating and being embarrassed for 0 reason, but it s something i put in the cathegory "bad art". But i still think that is worth mentioning seperatly
Anyways, shirogane is actually a cool lead, chika is funny but somewhat flat as a character, the suicide boy is funny af.
If i didnt despise kaguya or at least had an actually propper explenation for her shitty personality aside from "probably sad background, bear with it", i would keep reading. But as it is now, i have no idea how this manga was popular enaugh to go on past chapter 80, it s just somewhat funny but... this little plot for 8 Volumes?
It may become better, but i just am demotivated to read again (cause seeing kaguya s face gives me anger issues) so i will never find out
