Disappointing show to say the least. A fairly interesting concept about a millionaire who solves everything with money and has loads of high-end technology at his disposal. There are tons of possibilities of where this could go, but the show wastes time with smaller crimes and even a filler arc when it's 11 episodes only. There are also many unnecessary scenes that don't contribute anything, not something neeeded in the show's short run time. There's not enough time for details to be established and for the audience to feel connected to the characters. There are not enough constraints such that the show feels too open-ended
...
and anything can happen. It goes from a typical crime mystery setup to absurd flashy fights only with a few characters. As for the characters, they are bland and stereotypical with nothing much to them and that's partially due to the length of the show and maybe the adaption. The source material is a novel series, so this might be a case of poor adaptation perhaps. Some of the poor writing in the show also affects the emotional impact certain scenes are supposed to have and makes it hard to understand the logic behind them.
As for the positives, I did like the opening and ending as well as the setup of the show.
Overall, I think it's understandable why no one talks about this because there is nothing to talk about. Characters are surface level and the plot fails to be as strong as it needed to be.
4/10.

A relaxing slice of life story focusing on a wagashi sweets shop and peoples' relationships. Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets usually served with Japanese tea and the story shows how they can bring a bit of joy to people's lives. It also uses wagashi as a medium to show the importance of interpersonal relationships specifically in a family and between parents and children. The main part of the story focuses on the unintentional relationship that develops between Nagomu and Itsuka. Nagomu comes back from the big city to help out his family and to supposed to succeed in his family's business only to discover this
...
girl, Itsuka is to be the successor and learns to take a father figure role in her life.
Story:
Left at Nagomu's family wagashi sweet shop by her father, Itsuka forces herself to be more independent and responsible compared to other children her age so she won't rely on anyone else. She has a hard time enjoying life by letting go of her responsibility of working in the wagashi shop. When Nagomu arrives at the shop, he shows her that she can let go of some of her responsibilities
and it's alright to rely on others. Other topics like responsible parenting, following your passion, and living a traditional versus unconventional way of life are also talked about. The story may be lighthearted most of the time, but it doesn't hesitate in tackling important themes with emotional maturity.
Characters:
Characters are lovable and are presented in a light-hearted yet mature way. Characters face struggles most people will face in their lifetimes. Some character traits can be stereotypical, but nothing too extreme.
Art:
The art of the scenery is calm, relaxing, and nicely drawn, it is definitely one of the highlights of the show. Watching the anime also reminds me of being in watercolor painting because of the mellow colors blended in. Seeing the process of making wagashi and the different types of sweets are also a treat on the eyes and it does this without being flashy or attention-demanding.
Music:
Relaxing music, nothing much else to say.
Overall, a nice relaxing show that teaches you about various wagashi and the importance of family and interpersonal relationships. 7/10.

Relaxing slice of life story about a girl who moves from the country to a city to become a student-athlete all while
becoming a manager of a teenage boy idol group.
Plot: Nothing too special, the main character learns what it's like to live alone and how to manage school alongside her
manager job which includes dealing with idols, fans, and school. They talk about the struggles teenagers and idols face.
Characters: Likeable characters who have their own backstories and aren't overly dramatic. One of the characters in a later arc
could have been handled better because her characterization was inconsistent.
Art: Nothing Special, opening and ending had some
...
cute animations. CGI is used for idol dance performances but does not take away from the viewing experience.
Sound: The anime is based on a Vocaloid song and the idols perform various songs. The opening and ending had catchy songs.
Enjoyment: Chill slice of life anime that has an optimistic take on school life. Type of anime that can be played in the background while doing something else.

Sakugan is another anime with wasted potential. I was excited to see what they could do with something that was a combination of Made in Abyss and Gurren Lagann, but it's disappointing. Characters are very anime-esque meaning that they don't feel human at all and have very typical characteristics. Plenty of characters are introduced that don't get any development or get surface level development. The worldbuilding is not very good and it seems the main plot still hasn't been talked about even though it's already on the 6 episode. There are moments where it focuses on real character moments, but then is immediately
...
neutralized by the ridiculous ways conflicts are solved and dumb character motivations.

Since the author is coming out with a new manga, it was the perfect time to read this manga which is also done by them. Hooo boy, this manga is such a shitshow... get ready folks. Garbage plot, garbage characters, decent/ok art. 3/10.
---------------Contains Spoilers---------------------------------------------------------------------
The plot is about Kyo who leaves his hometown in the countryside to go to school in Tokyo. He maintains a long distanced relationship with his girlfriend. He ends up cheating on his girlfriend with a married woman (who also cheats on her husband).
This manga explores the complexities of loving someone and how people have different ideas of what it's like
...
to love based on their experiences. How you can still love someone even though they all have their misgivings and faults. How love is more complex than what's apparent at the surface. What does it truly mean to love someone?
Every major character sucks in this story. Kyo sucks because he thinks it's fine to cheat on his girlfriend then lie to her face while thinking it's fine to have sex with the woman because they don't have feelings for each other. The married woman sucks because she does everything she does to see if her husband actually loves her, yes she cheats because of this reason. Sa-chan dates Kyo in order to get him to fall in love with her aka she's trying to fix him and to no one's surprise she gets hurt herself. The husband of the woman privately invades her life and has her under surveillance to keep track of what she's doing. None of the characters are able to make sane decisions that will strengthen and fix their relationships. Every assumption they make continues to spiral downwards. It never occurred to them that communication is an option, that they could just discuss what they are feeling with their partner. The author does manage to give a backstory to each character to flesh them out and make us understand their motivations for their actions.
The only characters that are decent are Isesaki, Sa-chan's classmate who likes her, and Kyo's high school classmate who has an unrequited love for him. They have a normal idea of what love is like. But I guess the author wanted to write a story with more complex, broken characters.
As we progress throughout the story, characters do go through development. Kyo learns what it's like to truly love someone, Sa-chan learns that there's a limit to how long you can delude yourself thinking that you're truly happy in a relationship and how long you can keep forcing yourself to think everything's fine. The woman and her husband finally communicate after all their nonsensical reasoning and realize that they both love each other.
The development of the characters is great, but the ending completely ruins the story. We get a time skip of Kyo who is now a middle-aged salaryman, he ends up going on this date with this girl. It is revealed that the girl is the daughter of the Kunikidas who is the married couple in this story. So Kyo cheated with the wife and is now going to date the daughter? The ending is left ambiguous as he does find out her identity and the father did tell him a few years ago not to go after the daughter since she looks very similar to the mother. So we can't assume he will go on to marry the daughter. The last chapter should not have been added as it doesn't contribute to the story at all. The only purpose the last chapter serves was to give a consequence to the wife cheating on her husband and the punishment is that Kyo could potentially be ruining the family again by starting a relationship with their daughter. Would have been a 5/10 if it wasn't for the ending.
The art is decent but inconsistent at some parts. It manages to have a beautiful feel and eyes especially are well-drawn. The art does add to the atmosphere of scenes and expressions can be well done. It also manages to have a distinct style as well if we compare it to other romance mangas.
Overall, this story is short but is completely ruined by a garbage ending saying that people don't really change and by sending a bitter message to the audience. As well as having characters that are selfish and only think for themselves.

I think I read enough of this to get a general idea of what this story is like. Want to read a typical shoujo story with a questionable foundation? Well, this is the read for you!
Defying Kursosaki-Kun is about Yuu who likes Shirakawa, but ends up pissing off Kurosaki, his best friend by causing trouble at the dorms. Kurosaki decides that he wants to discipline Yu by kissing her and the story progresses from there.
A typical story where a girl falls in love with an asshole guy who is constantly kissing her when she doesn't want to. She falls in love with him because she
...
sees that he isn't as bad as she thought he was. The plot pushes this narrative of having a girl fall in love with a guy who has no respect for her boundaries. But it's ok because he has a somewhat sad backstory and he gets character development? Seriously speaking, it's a pretty weak start to a romance story that gets drawn out by other characters that don't add too much to the story.
Let's talk about the characters starting with Yu. She's your average high school girl, not a crybaby but not a super-strong character either. She claims she likes Shirakawa, but she also doesn't hate it when Kurosaki forces himself on her? There should be no reason why she falls in love with Kurosaki considering all he does is wanting to torment her. In other words, she doesn't hate the fact that he is taking an interest in him.
Kurosaki-Kun is your typical bad boy character who develops an interest in Yu after their first encounter. He claims that he's keeping her in check with all his actions and enjoys making her cry. He is extremely possessive of her even though he claims he doesn't like her.
Shirakawa is a character that appears to be nice to other people, but in fact, acts for his own interests. He dates Yu not because he likes her, but because he wants to not change the relationship between him and Kurosaki. He uses people for his own benefit.
If you can ignore the problematic aspects of each character in the beginning then you get a typical shoujo story. The characters do go through development as the story goes on.
The art is fine and suitable for the story. It does improve as the story progresses which is always nice. Nothing about the art really stands out like with most shoujo/romance stories, just that it's pretty and is able to show emotions well.
Overall, this is a typical shoujo that appeals to certain types of readers to get a fantasy that they want. There are better romance stories out there and the story feels too drawn out for what it is. If you do decide to read it, don't set your expectations high because you will be disappointed. This is a 5/10 for me.
Would I continue reading it? No.
Do I recommend it? Only if you like possessive ML/tsundere guys.

Honestly, this show never caught my eye because it involves a sport I wasn't interested in. I only watched it because I was recommended it. Turns out it wasn't a bad experience at all.
Like most sports anime stories the goal for the team is to make it to nationals. Pretty standard story formula. However, this anime focuses more on the characters rather than the plot itself. It explores the reasons why each character is doing artistic gymnastics and their motivations for working so hard. It focuses more on Shoutarou and the ace prodigy, Misato than the rest of the team.
The scope of the plot is
...
relatively small considering Shoutarou is literally a beginner in rhythmic gymnastics. I had concerns about how the anime was going to pace itself when the main character was a complete beginner but to my surprise, the show manages to do a lot with 12 episodes. Part of the reason why it was able to work with the concept of having a beginner was because it focuses on the characters. The rival team that was introduced definitely was able to flesh out the dynamic of the characters and add different interactions for the characters. Unfortunately, most of the characters on the other team are only slightly developed and don’t add too much to the story. The important ones being the captain of the other team and more importantly the ace, Mashiro serving stronger roles.
The atmosphere of the story can be described as lighthearted yet perfectly captures important moments where characters can really feel the weight that they carry.
Characters
This is where the story really shines, it manages to explore and flesh out each character from the team. We learn about their goals and motivation for doing rhythmic gymnastics. We find out that most characters were inspired by other people doing rhythmic gymnastics, making them want to start the sport. While the characters are likable, they don’t differ too much from characters we have already seen before like a dense simple-minded captain, a quiet nerd that is good at studying, a guy that just goes with the flow, and a loud guy. Not to mention that they also have their own individual interests to flesh them out as well. I really liked the dynamic of the character interactions between Shoutarou, Misato, and Mashiro. With Shoutarou and Mashiro being total opposites in terms of experience and Shoutarou and Misato being the opposite in terms of personality.
I also want to say that food definitely played a big part in this story. The idea of food bringing people together isn’t adding anything new, but it just adds to the sense of bonding as a team and spending time together. Not only can we see them spending time together in practice, but they also spend time outside of practice getting to know each other. This is able to bring them closer as a team and be more realistic.
The art and animation are nothing special and at times the art can be a bit subpar especially if the characters are further back in a scene. CGI is used for rhythmic gymnastic dance routines because otherwise, that would be too costly to draw by hand. Honestly, I don’t dislike it when the routines were done with CGI. I had to admit that I was drawn in when there was a dance routine on the screen. The CGI does stand out slightly meaning that you can definitely tell that it’s CGI that breaks the immersion of watching the anime.
The sound doesn’t really stand out in any way and I’m also not the type of person to pay too much attention to soundtracks or opening and endings. The opening was average and nothing too memorable and the same thing could be said about the ending. One thing about the sound that I did notice was when they were doing a dance routine, each time that they landed or tumbled it did add to the experience of watching them dance.
I also appreciated that the show didn’t rush the story to be a stand-alone series because that would have been a mess. Glad that they're creating a movie to wrap up the ending of the story.
A big part of enjoying sports anime is having an interest in the sport that it focuses on. I personally wasn’t going to watch this and I was going to drop it after 3 episodes, but I’m glad I gave it a chance and finished it. It turned out to be a very enjoyable watch that didn't try to achieve too much. Solid 7/10.
